So i was reading here in Gameinformer issue 217 Mass Effect 3 cover. page 60 a Sub-article tittled Beyond The Trilogy. This is what it says:
[My mood before reading article]<_<
"After mass Effect 3 is finished and the trilogy is complete,is that the end of the Mass Effect Universe? Not if bioware has anything to say about it. After building such an intricate setting, The developer would like to see it branch out into other  media. "Within video games a lot of people say they want to see an MMO," says exexutive producer Casey Hudson. "I think that kinda makes sense for this universe . . . part of what you're trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That's part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving . . . I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the reapers and win that, wouldn't it be amazing to live on the citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That Makes sense." "

 :mellow::):o I think that is a very good idea in my opinion. What do you guys think?

It would loose a lot especially since what's great about mass effect is dialogue and the choices you make. In MMO you can't make player choices since it would affect the whole universe.

Also character interaction would be leveled down to WOW levels. Where Npcs just give you quests and sell you items. No romances and character interaction? Another big feature of what Mass Effect is all about just lost.

I wouldn't like it too much, being honest.

LMAO XD. I understand where you are coming from. But although I don't want to pay the stupid fee. It is actually a cool idea. They are also planning on maybe a multi-player in the future. I am just happy that the ME series won't die with ME3.

And now that i think about it. It would be toned down...A LOT i guess. hmmm... now i am iffy.

I just hope that eventually we DO get another singleplayer more RPG driven series in the future and that it's not essential that EVERY game have multiplayer, because that would be abandoning it's roots, and that.. would suck.

I'd like to at least see some more trilogies in the future sometime.

I wouldn't mind. MMOs definitely aren't for everyone, and ME would be difficult due to the lack of classic 'tank' class in the current series (plus no healer?) but if they can get around that, it might be fun. Although how they're going to do tactics would be interesting...

Same here. I just don't want it to die with ME3. If they can work around some of the problems with toning it down all the way.It would be cool.

...are you following TOR at all?  Because like, the opposite of what you describe are being listed as features and frequently and repeatedly highlighted.

You know, choices and companion character interaction beyond WoW?  Including romances?

That said, these boards are pretty hostile to the idea of MMOs.  But I'd definitely try out a Mass Effect MMO for sure.

You should look at SWTOR, by BioWare. You still have morality, romances, choices, and heavy story/characters;  it's literally has everything from classic BioWare single player game in a MMO. I imagine a ME MMO which I doubt would happen anytime soon, would be very similar in that respect. Yes, your choices alone wouldn't effect the universe but who knows =)

And you cannot say you wouldn't like it knowing nothing at all about what it'd be or any details. I agree I wouldn't prefer a ME MMO, but I won't say I wouldn't like it until I'd know more and play it.

THe Mass Effect franchise won't die with ME 3.  This is just the final chapter in Shepard's story.  But there will be more games from the Mass Effect universe.

As for the MMO, well I hope not I am not a particular fan of MMO's and I never will be.  Hopefully the next Mass Effect game after 3 will be a strong single player experience.  Although I will say that ME 3 is likely to be the last single player ONLY Mass Effect.

Look at DC Universe Onlne. They have come a long way. It is an Action MMO and the so called "Quest-Givers" Actually fight and interact with you. They even help you by fighting with you. I mean look at how good these games are. I am they can find a way to make it interesting without loosing to much.

I would actually like to see more games. Non-shepard games. Some of which may take place during the Shepard story. Maybe other characters that rise to some prominence or manage key tactics in other places where shepard can't be everywhere at once realistically.  And I mean seriously... Fighting one Reaper could still be epic. Perhaps with somewhat different tactics. Specially going back to a character that doesn't really understand what the reapers are or what they were or if there really is a chance to beat them again from a fresh perspective.

Even somewhat smaller scope than saving the whole galaxy but maybe sets of people like certain planetary systems or something all inside the Mass Effect Universe...

Eventually maybe even eventually one game where we actually get to kind of do the exporatory thing and be one of the people that goes out through those many Mass Relays that havent' been gone to or found yet and has to deal with some of those situations. I can see some first Encounter situations turning somewhat epic all on their own.

Yes I see that now. Thats why I was happy. I agree on the single player thing but i would also try out an MMO although I am not a big fan.

Only interesting if it's a sandbox game in the style of pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies. Otherwise pass.

That wouldn't really work well unless they do kind of a pre-quel thing. Becouse remember how shepards choices effect the universe? although now that i think about it maybe if they do what they have done with the transfering choices from game to game.

No necessity to be so hostile. No I'm not following it in detail because I don't like MMO's at all, it's just my personal opinion and I have had bad experiences with them.

But choices as in Mass Effect don't tell me it's easy to implement in MMO.

That said I do know some stuff about the game, and I saw to the interviews on Bioware TV (and didn't hear repaetedly anything of what you said is in the game), but didn't know you could have romances in SWTOR. Still you have leave me impresed since I don't know how they're going to handle it.

I would like to see one that takes place right after humans discover the mass relay. before shepards story. I really want it to be open world sandboxish not a wow clone at all. Shooter based combat and roles that dont require combat abilities >_> i wanna be a Krogan bartender

I didn't know of an MMO with romances either so it is all good.  That would be pretty nteresting to see what they do with it.

oh... Another thought of a Story I'd like to see... Could be single player or even somewhat multi-player... A first contact scenario from the point of view of an emerging race that's found the stuff and then has to deal with somehow keeping the peace between their race and the races of the ME universe while bringing their race onto the galactic stage. Kind of been done a few times over the years but still a good story and it would be still rather unique to play in the ME universe.

The awesome part of SWG pre-NGE is that you could have characters that were entirely social roles. No bartenders sadly, but you could be dancer or musician. Even specialize in the ability to alter other characters' hairstyles and physical appearance, with special designs only available via the profession.

Your player organization could build a city and a cantina for you to provide your services, which were socially integrated with the other combat classes whom you could buff and heal certain types of debuffs, etc.

It was brilliant. Never been anything else much like it. And the crafting was amazing. Now that I think of it, there was a merchant class. And a food/drink crafting line. Given the free-form class building system, your character could have taken merchant and food crafting skills, and then run his own brewery selling your very own creations, out of a cantina built by your city's own architects.

SWG was too ahead of its time. It came out before social networking really exploded. I think the next big MMO will definitely draw heavily from SWG, and include very strong social/community aspects.

Well that's what I was thinking...  DA is supposed to keep changing the world based on your choices as the games progress. no reason ME can't do that a bit.  And while shepards choices are far reaching and Galaxy changing. I don't know that they'd hit everywhere at once. Since they are kind of epicentered around him/her.

But I could see a couple real WTF moments or something if say the side story type deal of another character was in a dire position against the reaper and because you saved them suddenly the Rachni are helping out out because they happen to be in that side of things too.
