I guess murdering 99% of all the quarians existence isn't genocide if you don't finish off that last 1%.

Except the Geth were fighting for their survival, not the complete extinction of the Quarians. By definition, that wasn't Genocide.

No, but I they are guilty of mass genocide and thus must be punished and/or destroyed.

And how exactly are the geth guilty of mass genocide?

Genocide is killing people with the purpose to wipe out an entire race or species. The geth didn't do this.

Oh for the love of god use your head
Once the quarians had lost 50% of their entire population (not just soldiers. everyone) the war was lost and the quarians had no chance of winning

So what do the geth do?

They continue to systematically wipe out every man, woman and child on the basis of them being quarian until a total of 99% of the population is dead. (and to clarify they didn't stop at 90%, 1% just managed to get away)

That, is genocide.

However, the Krogan did commit genocide (well, the Salarians did, they simply used the Krogan as their tools to commit genocide on the rachni).

So, shouldn't we destroy the Krogan and/or the Salarians instead of the geth? Hmmm?

Even if I felt it necessary to punish those who commited genocide against the rachni I wouldn't.

Why?

They're pretty much all dead silly.

The Geth aren't too different from us. Organic life is little more than an assembly of parts driven by chemical reactions. The Geth are just driven by a different sort of reaction. Actually, there's probably a chemical component to their functionality too.

Son, killing 99% of a race is  genocide. The geth activetly hunted down and killed any quarian not fortunate enough to escape beyond the Perseus Veil. That is genocide.

That they didn't finish it does not mean it wasn't genocide. If no quarians had escaped from the Veil then all the quarians would have been killed.

The only reason the geth didn't pursue the rest of the Migrant Fleet was because they had no reason to and didn't want to provoke a war with the Council. When the uprising was finished the Council had ships waiting all along the Persues Veil incase the geth came out.

It's still genocide.

Once again, there came a point at which the quarians trapped on their worlds could not offer any resistence and yet the geth slaughtered them anyway. At that point it stops being self defense and transitions into murder.

Shouldn't the Rachni have been the first ones on that list since they began the entire run of "genocide" to begin with?

No Racnni means no Korgon means no Salarian Genophage.

This is the inevitable outcome of any topic about geth or quarians.

Exactly.
And for this very reason they must be punished.

Personally I think we might as well keep them useful and put Xen's idea into practice.

Surely we could find some new mud to sling at Mac Walters.

Yeah, maybe we should make you useful by brainwashing you so you can do my dirtly laundry and keep my house clean and do everything else that I don't like to do myself.

Xen is sick and so is everyone who agrees with her idea.

A practical mind is not sick, it is healty. It is something to be cherished. She offers the best solution for all parties. Victory without bloodshed.

I do think the sci-fi lore behind the geth is quite genius. It sounds quite realistic and it could possibly be real. In theory, if you want to create a true A.I., an artificial neural network is the way to go.

But of course an artificial neural network alone is not enough to create an A.I. in real-life and there are still many problems that prevents our real-life artificial neural networks from "waking up", but that doesn't mean it isn't possible in the future.

I believe that one day, we'll be able to make a true A.I. similar to the geth in real-life.

I agree, I don't understand why Daro'Xen thinks enslaving the Geth would work the second time around. It seems the Quarians aren't ones to learn from their past mistakes.

Xen actually does come off as somewhat ill, with the story about dissecting toys possible evidence of disturbed behavior.

I haven't commit any major war crimes.
Perhaps if I had that'd be a reasonable punishment but at the moment it is unnecessary.

Actually it's a sign of a genius mind. It shows that as a child she was extremely curious. Prodigy's often do destroy their toys in an effort to see how they're made.

Mind telling me why you feel this enmity against Walters? Is it because of ME2's plot holes (which we have all safely decided to save judgment until ME3) or is it because of those comics? :P

It doesn't say she did it to see how they were made. It just says she performed surgery on them. She could have been like Sid from Toy Story for all we know.

I'd say what Sid did was pretty impressive.
Successfully fusing one toy with another is no simple task.

Sid struck me as a very intelligent, curious, and creative child, who was neglected. I feel really bad for him.

Killing 11 million to 17 million people is impressive, but that doesn't mean the Holocaust was right.
