The top sword is the Longsword 1 variation, which appears to scale to roughly 52in in total length. You can now really see how absurdly massive the game's stock weapons are. To compare are two versions of the new Cousland Family Sword. The arming sword variant is roughly 40in in total length, while the longsword is approximately 50in. Both have blades approximately 2in wide and .5in in cross-section at the hilts.

Thanks a lot, but to be honest I'm just about at the point of saying "screw it." For whatever reason I just CAN NOT get the changes to the weapons to work properly in the game.
If all else fails we could still make use of the models to override the default models in game. Not exactly the best solution but a lot better than not seeing those beautiful swords in game...

Much of the most prominent weathering is on the hilt, specifically the grip. There's a few scratches and dings, however many games significantly overdo such details. Notched and chipped blades were regularly ground out, or outright replaced, and after two years of sword-on-sword practice, my own waster doesn't show much in the way of damage at all, with most of the wear being on the blade (aluminum). There's some tiny nicks along the top edge of the guard, but not much else.
This will be carried over to all the swords (except perhaps the Darkspawn weapons). Simply put: a sword was one of a medieval warrior's most prized possessions. They were INCREDIBLY expensive and time-consuming to produce. These weapons were VERY well taken care of.

The game has 6 classes of melee weapons. I'm already expanding this by 3-4. That means upwards of SEVENTY new models for melee weapons. This doesn't even include the bows yet, and if I end up adding polearms as well.
Are there any modelers out there looking for work?

I own 3 Albion swords (Sempach, Squire/Greatsword and Maestro/Meyer), so I'm looking at your work with the greatest interest. I've been very disappointed with the vanilla sword design, especially the "greatswords" (take Ageless, for instance, one of the most useful swords in the game, which, alas, looks like a train door attached to a small shaft; and not to forget the 1h model - ie. Keening - which seems will get stuck in your opponent, should you be ever able to do much that making him laugh at your weapon!
So, all-in-one, thank you for your initiative! I love swords (I even practice WMA, German Longsword school), so it truly pained me to see those ugly vanilla models (the armour is not as bad).
Cheers,
PKR.
PS: what you said about the Albion swords being a bit heavy: I wouldn't say that... The Squire Line Greatsword is certainly a heavy sword, meant for cleaving through your opponent's mail, but Sempach is quite nimble by comparison, a sword meant mostly for thrusting, but also for cutting. Handles like a sword should, by all means. I must add I could use it also with one hand, but that's not exactly the point of its design (would use it 1H only for certain techniques, mostly grappling, etc.).

Charge - The warrior rushes his opponent, allowing him to close the distance at a much greater rate, and makes an attack with a damage bonus when he reaches his target.
Recover (Passive) - The warrior has learned to control a fall in combat. If he is struck by a successful knockdown effect, he rolls back to his feet without a delay (check based?)
Draw Cut - The warrior delivers a drawing cut that opens a blood vessel. The target will loose health over the duration of the effect (say, 5-10 sec?)
Last Stand - If the warrior is below 15% health he can convert all his stamina to health (possible script to impose limitations? Say, automatic 2min cooldown for all talents?).

I'm considering adding a third tier to the Warrior talent set. Thoughts on these:
Charge - The warrior rushes his opponent, allowing him to close the distance at a much greater rate, and makes an attack with a damage bonus when he reaches his target.
Recover (Passive) - The warrior has learned to control a fall in combat. If he is struck by a successful knockdown effect, he rolls back to his feet without a delay (check based?)

Last Stand - If the warrior is below 15% health he can convert all his stamina to health (possible script to impose limitations? Say, automatic 2min cooldown for all talents?).
Those would be great, especially "Charge" for those pesky mages.

Heck, I could even modify one of the shield talents so that instead of a weapon attack, the charge ends in a shield bash with a knockdown effect if the warrior has learned that ability.
LOTS of possibilities, there.

Fine Dwarven Arming Sword.
This sword is based on a Scottish design. There was something about the combination of the hilt design and the stout blade that just LOOKED like Dwarven craftsmanship.

Updated comparison of the three variations of the Cousland Family Sword: Greatsword, longsword and arming sword from top to bottom.
I'll still be doing a Claymore, but I'll be using that mesh for one of the other weapons instead.

Like the Cousland sword, there will be three versions of Starfang, compared in this image. From top to bottom are the Arming Sword, Longsword and Greatsword variations.

The Qunari Greatsword.
And to give you an idea of just how FLIPPIN' MASSIVE this thing is:

The longsword measures just shy of 4.5ft in length. The Qunari sword will essentially be a test of the feasibility of polearms.
