First, computer loadout.

1. What is the nature of the problem you are seeing?
I've got that z fighting issue, the one where weapons, eyes and hair models flicker in certain areas.

2. When did the problem start occurring?
It's been occurring for as long as I've played.  I've got the problem in ME 1 as well.

3. Where does your problem occur?
During lair of the SB, at liara's condo notably.

4. What are the steps in replicating the problem?
Play through the area.;)

5. Have you modified your game in any way?

Forced 4x SSAA, but I had the problem before that, and I tried without it, but it didn't work.

I was wondering if a fix had been discovered for this annoyance.  I searched, but couldn't find anything on google or here, soo here I am.

Thanks for looking. =]

I had this problem on the Presidium and Tuchanka. That's back when I used an Nvidia GPU. I used to think this affected everyone but some people claimed to have never had this problem on PC (or maybe they just didn't notice because of lower quality standards). I never found a fix.

I currently don't have ME2 installed so I can't check whether my new AMD GPU has the same problem I had before, but I'll install and replay ME2 soon and then I'll share my results. In any case, I haven't experienced z-fighting in ME1 on Nvidia and AMD GPUs.

Eye flickering Ive had with certain face models (Including Udina's on occasion), but I cant recall hair or weapons flickering.

One thing I do find interesting is the reported VRAM on your GPU. Thats the first time Ive ever seen the config util misrepresent it.
Also, whats the revision of the catclyst driver you are running, what is anisotropic filtering set at, and have you overclocked your GPU at all?

I saw the same glitch recently in a screenshot on this forum but with Intel HD hardware.

Real VRAM is 2 gigs, don't know about that config report. :?

Catclyst version is 11.6

MaxAnisotropy was manually set to 16 in the .ini files for ME1 and 2.

GPU is factory overclocked, and it's new.  I recently upgraded from a Nvidia, had the problem with that one too.:(  Probably should've mentioned that. /woops
Old one was stock, and/but I didn't upgrade because of this problem.

Curious that you had zfighting in ME2 but not 1...  If you don't mind my asking, what OS do you have?

Tanks for teh responces.

You could try knocking the anisotropic filtering back a notch or two and testing it out.
Do you have any special settings being loaded for the Catalyst Control Centre for ME2, apart from the AA?

I played both games on: Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows 7 32-bit and now Windows 7 64-bit. No z-fighting in ME1, but I get the issue in ME2 on very specific places. Not all the time. I had the same issue on both a Geforce 9600 GT and an AMD Radeon HD 6870 so i'm quite sure my problems are not related to yours but are instead the game's fault.

Not working yet, but I wanted to say thanks.  I think I just have to accept it.
And besides, a visual anomaly can distract from a story anomaly, which would annoy me more.;)

I'd install the new 11.7 Catalyst drivers, the 11.6s gave alot of pple issues with BSODs and other bugs so I'd update to the new drivers. I also have had this issue and I'm pretty sure it's shadow related *though I think we all knew that ? lol* something to do with the Z buffering I think it was ?
