Bad romance

so now I ask why diid Jack die? was it to make room for the shep/tali romance and make it easier to fit into the whole ashley /shep/tali triangle that's bound to blow up in ME3 or was it something else.
also did any of you ever cheat on you LI with Liara after the shadow broker mission? ( im not sure if you can but I kinda get the vibe you can drop anything and be with liara if you give into her in th cabin scene)
Am I wrong for going after Jack a second time through and being all paragon for her to get the LI thing to happen so shep and jack can actually be a couple in ME3 ( i feel kinda forced however since theres no real renegade approach to wooing Jack. )
what do you think will happen to people who were rejected by Jack in ME2 , pursued no other LI, and now come face to face with Jack in ME3 would things change maybe ?

Everyone does not need to be loyal. I've had Miranda unloyal and she didn't die. Just don't use any unloyal people for 2nd fire team leader, tech expert, boitic bubble maker, or escort the crew back to the Normandy.starwars5393 wrote...
She could have died because of who you chose to be the second team leader, tech expert or biotic. In order for everyone to survive everyone needs to be loyal and you need to choose the right team leaders and specialists. It has nothing to do with the double romance. But if you want to be in a couple with Jack in ME3 you need to do paragon romance.
If you pick the wrong 2nd fire team leader at the beginning, the tech in the vents dies with a rocket to the face.
If you pick the wrong person to escort the crew back, they die defending them.
If you pick the wrong 2nd fire team leader for the biotic bubble porttion, they get shot and die
If you pick the wrong biotic, one person from your squad dies.
If you don't have enough big bodies for the hold the line, random people die. Don't send Grunt, with the crew. That causes Mordin to die. That might be what happened to Jack.
When I did my insane run, I did not do all the loyality missions and no one died. I just did enough to make sure I had the right people loyal to do the right job. Make sure you upgrad the Normandy's shields, armor, cannon. That way no one dies before you get to the base. The other upgrades for the Normandy have nothing to do with the SM.

About Liara. If you do the LotSB after the SM and you were with someone else, Liara will be snippy about it on the third interrupt on the balcony after defeating Vasir. After you defeat the SB and don't do the kiss interrupt, she makes a comment when Shepard asks about their relastionship the she knows Shepard is with someone and maybe in the future they can be together. Shepard can then tell Liara they want to be with her. And she wants no problems or issues, bickering or anything like that. If you ask about Feron and her, and didn't do the interrupt kiss. Liara will say something along these lines, "Are you jealous, Commander? You might want to do something about that."ExiledTyrant wrote...
So I started out renegade shep first play through and took the casual sex option with jack only to find out she kinda hates your guts after the affair( wasnt listening to kelly a the time about hints towards Jack). Then Tali draws me in and I complete her full romance. Later somehow Jack dies during the suicide mission even though she's copletely loyal and I sided with her on every argument.
so now I ask why diid Jack die? was it to make room for the shep/tali romance and make it easier to fit into the whole ashley /shep/tali triangle that's bound to blow up in ME3 or was it something else.

Also, if you didn't do the interrupt kiss and didn't ask about their relastionship, it's over.
If you do the interrupt kiss after defeating the SB, Liara acts like Shepard is not with anyone else. (weird) Then everything is fine. And if you ask about Feron, she will just say they are friends and Shepard made it quite clear as you humans say taken.
Hope this clears things up for you.

Or if you pick the wrong one. You have to pick loyal people to do jobs and the right person for the job. My point was you do not need everyone loyal to get everyone to survive.Melrache wrote...
The tech in vents dies even if you have the right leader for the team. If the tech is unloyal that is.

guess I'll stick loyal jacob as the second squad leader next time. I thought Jack being so loyal would be enough for her to lead the squad while samara was able sheild us in. Zaed was a kickass 1st squad leader though

I believe you only need 4 loyal people (team leader, biotic, tech (at minimum) and an extra) for everyone to survive.

There's a thread on this, but...
...for zero deaths, acquire the thanix cannon, shield upgrade, and armor upgrade for the Normandy.
Only use loyal Miranda, Jacob, or Garrus for leadership positions.
Use loyal Kasumi, Tali, or Legion for the vents.
Use loyal Samara/Morinth or Jack for the biotic bubble.
Send loyal Tali or Mordin back with the crew.
And don't take Grunt, Zaeed, or Garrus with you to face the Reaper Larva.
There are other ways, but these basic guidelines will see you through. Using Zaeed as a squad leader will inevitably result in the death of your tech specialist.
Edit: Also, see this.
