So I made it to the fight against Corypheus with relative ease, but now I'm stuck. When he does the twin walls of fire, is there a way to save your companions from it on Xbox? Unlike the PC version, I can't give specific movement orders to keep them out of the fire, but is there some way to save them? Or is Hawke (or whoever I'm controlling) on her own?

yeah, you should be able to tank at least getting flamed once (on nightmare) by drinking a health potion as it goes pass. I have the glassiest party ever and they mostly survived that. a heal/barrier/stonewall could also work in that same way.
you can actually do specific movement orders via move-to-position but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a pain in the arse and doesn't help all that much.
the best way to do it is do simply kill the two shades off fast then keep running until it's a safe distance away and repeat. This means that the companions use their pathfinding to follow you (instead of attacking enemies) and they should mostly keep up and not get flamed.
in the event that the fire catches up to you/you can't be bothered running away you can tank the fire and start running with a full head start but due to cooldowns you'll only be able to do that once or twice.

i had the same exact problem. took me oer 20 tries to get it right (im on the ps3 version so it should not be TOO different). ill try to explain it the best i can. when he ports to the middle and yells "Dumat grant me your power" immediately make your way to the fire monument. you will see the ground turn black almost. this means the fire is getting ready. stand just out of the way of it (without entering the room) and he will start roatting the fire. immediately run into the fire room when the fire is out of the way. on the first phase, you can easily hit the fire monument, kill the guardians and run out. catch back up to the fire that is moving away from you unttil you are close to it (your companions should follow). when ur close, follow it closely until you can pop into a room, hit the monument, kill the guardians, and run out. do this all four times.
Now, attack him again. its almost the same thing here but now he has some fireball attack you dont have to worry about cause its weak. when he ports to the middle again things will get a little different. now a bunch of rocks spawn that you have to go around, and on the console companions LOVE to get stuck and lag behind. stand in the same spot as the first time, right near the fire monument. when the fire moves away, hit the monument and kill the guardians. This time, however, your going to back your whole party in the furthest corner in this "off room". when the fire passes you will take less damage then if you are directly in it. stay until it just passes you, and follow it out. SLOWLY menuver around the rocks to keep your party caight up. dont go to fast. Do the same thing in the next room. the guardians actually give you health when you kill them. so use that to your advantage to counter the fire damage you take. once all four are done, another attack phase starts. just attack him more.
you basicly do the same thing for the next phase, only this time some passages are blocked off by lightning. you can either eat the lightning damage and go through, or find an alternate route. The phase after that, he does random ice damage around that shows up as a "frost patch" just before the damage hits, so just be careful about that.
Sorry, im not good at explaining things, i did my best. if you have questions just ask ill try to explain more

I really hate this final boss, it's a lot harder than all other bosses (Even Arishok), with arishok at least I can run around. My party members just stuck in fire and get burned out. First time through I got lucky, second time, they won't last halfway through. I don't know what I'm going to do. As long as I can keep the party members out of that stupid rotating fire wall, I should be fine.

Did the first run thru on Normal mainly because I had no clue what to expect then watching Anders, Merrill, and Varric get BBQ into extra crispy just made me
Second time around once I figured out what not to do and what I was supposed to do battle was a lot easier. Will admit this was a blast in Hard using Duos my Archer Rogue and just love how you need to keep a eye on the entire field while tryin to take out the objectives made the adrenline really flow on those. Got to give Bioware a cookie for finally giving us a battle we haven't seen in either DA:O and DA2 ( unless you count the random battle in the Deep Roads in Cairidin's Fortress with the Golems and Poisen Traps and the Mini Boss inside ) Got to try this battle with Blood/Force, SnS Serk/Temp, and Rogue classes can't wait to give this a try with my Spirit Healer Mage and Nightmare

I love this fight. If you're having trouble, I suggest ignoring your companions and just focus on maneuvering yourself through the maze in phase 2.
Once you can maneuver yourself without dying, then decide on how you want to deal with the shades:
If you're a rogue Hawke (or have high burst dps) only click a statue if you're right on the leading flame edge when it passes. That will give you enough time to burst down the shades and move on before the trailing flame hits (remember nature damage is your friend).
If you'd prefer to play more conservatively, don't kill the shades after clicking the statues. Just run to keep up with the flames and only kill shades that happen to cross your path.
Dog is great in this fight since he's immune to fire.

I think that a lot of people are over thinking this fight, and I was too until it clicked for me.
As long as you are not hit by the initial fire blast (I did this by going to one of the pillars either to the left or right of the fire pillar, basically so you are not opposite the fire pillar) the damage you take next to the pillar when the fire washes by is very minimal.
From there killing the shades heals your entire party. so just kill them one at a time, and then follow as close to the fire as you can. Focus fire the shades at each pillar and you will be fully healed.
Don't worry about the move to point commands or hold position. As long as you are focusing down the shades your party will be at full health, and as there are no enemies around they will follow you with no trouble.
I think you will see how easy the fight becomes once moving between the pillars makes sense. Its actually a really fun fight once you learn the trick of it, probably my favourite of the game.

If you are having trouble with the fight, I'd say you haven't played WoW
I finished it on Hard, and it was challenging and fun. Took me two tries, once to learn and then a second to defeat. It required awareness and reaction to your environments. You just need to focus and keep your eyes open. I used select all button to control all my party at once and move them together. That way, I was able to avoid the spells easily.

After multiple times fighting Corypheus and resetting, I find it to be much easier if you stayed right next to the pillar/statues that the shades spawn near. You take A LOT less damage from the fire waves.

This fight was trivial (but long) on hard with my spirit healer , but just about impossible with my rogue (Anders had taken a hike). I'm tempted to get a mod and change Beth or Merril to a spirit healer.
So if you have a healer, just control him and keep him alive. Healing aura should negate most of the environmental damage, kill the shades whenever, rez your idiot party members when it's back to phase 1.

This fight was easy, even for my party of Hawke (Bloodmage/Forcemage), Varric, Carter, Merril (using Bloodmagic-lite) so no dedicated healer on Hard.
Just make sure you have a few Mythal's Favors (Or whatever the respawn grenade is called). Try to stay ahead of the flame and worry more about keeping Carver and Hawke alive. The one time all three companions died is because they were too dumb to go around the rocks, I used one Mythal's Holy Hand Grenade and got all 3 rezzed and ready to fight. Corypheus himself is a push over (Arishok is a much harder fight) the only reason the fight lasts more than a minute is because he becomes a flame thrower for 3 rounds and he himself is immune to damage at that time.

I keep getting the ending bug. I'm on console (xbox). First time, I ran out of pillars to attack and no more enemies, and the boss kept spinning in the center indefinitely.
Second time, I attacked the pillars once and killed the enemies, and got the boss down to an infinite zero. He won't die. Spent half an hour hammering on him. Nothing.
And yes, my companions have a hard time doing what they're told.
Such a pity, I was really enjoying Legacy...till I hit these issues. There is no guarantee if I reload that I will avoid them again. Some seem to play it smoothly with no issue, and some seem to have to replay it multiple times.
Gonna go to New Vegas for a while before I go back to the boss fight.

soo it took me 7 minutes on normal, then I replayed it on nightmare and it took a long time. I was a rogue archer on lvl 28, had bethany, merrill and varric in my party. Anyhow he died and got owned neat by my well organized 400 hp party ;p

I cringe to think of playing any DA games on console again, played DaO on it, later got it for PC and the improvement in player/party controll was like night and day.
Well, everything about the game is improved really.
Good luck in future content consoling it though, but if you are at all able, I would recommend getting the PC version.

X-Box version? Cake like the entire game. My Rogue Hawke slaughtered everything almost by himself, very little damage, although Bethany bit it on one playthrough at LEVEL 50!!! I think she was screaming "Help, I am BBBBurning!!!" but I thought it was a family barb-b-que. This should have not delayed the game's release, I think it's as good as Deep Roads, the game now seems tiny without Legacy. I still can do an alternate playthrough, but having crushed the game 5 times- I think it's time to retire and wait for Skyrim.
