I tried a bunch of spells out on them and they seem completely immune to freeze, petrify, misdirection hex, etc.?

Anyone else notice this?

I've only done legacy as a rogue but when attacking them head on, yes. The shield offers a fair bit of protection, go for their back they drop quick enough.

Spirit hits them like a truck though.

At lvl 25 i was hitting them with basic staff attack (spirit staff) for over 1k.

I noticed the shield blocks attacks, even magical. Though Lightning and fireball work fine. Allso get them to turn there back and pretty much any one can shread through them fast. I done all three playthroughs with my Mage and Rogue being brand new games in first act (warrrior was in act II). I found if you get it's attention the rest of the party will shread it from the rear.

Yep, Spirit bolt in their back does huge damage. I'm running a mod atm that increases armour on enemies, which while nice normally makes the genlock alphas *really* annoying lol.

If you're a two handed warrior the Celebrant sword does over 2k and sometimes over 4k damage to their back. I was having trouble with them until I switched over to that sword and wow, massacre.

I realize this may not be an option for some, but you really want a melee rogue for those if you are having trouble maneuvering around them.

The first time I played Legacy I brought my mage Hawke, Carver (story reasons), Anders (heals and story), and Varric (Bianca is awesome, and need a lockpick). The alphas gave me a fair bit of trouble, especially in tight places.

The second time I played Legacy I was a rogue, and WOW was the difference astounding. Vendetta, assassinate, dead. No problem whatsoever.
