This thread is dedicated to Javik the Prothean, the Enkindler Who Lived - the Vengeance of the prothean people, who in Mass Effect 3 will join Shepard in his/her fight against the Reapers which now, just like they did in Javik's time, threatens all life in the galaxy.

Check out Javik's Twitter page, and ask him anything you like on his tumblr.

I want to highlight these youtube videos by user gamermd83, which touch upon the subject in this thread (prothean squaddie) and protheans in general:

Facts about Prothy
Big spoilers ahead. So be cautious.

1: Perm Squaddie
2: Not 100% that will look like the statues on Illos
3: Is a warrior type 'o guy
4: Will give insights into Prothean History
5: Is a biotic.
6: Is renegade-ish with anti-AI tendencies.
7: Hates Cerberus with a passion despite being mostly renegade
8: He is most likely a Vanguard or Sentinel. Less likely a Sentinel given his soldiering nature.
9: Not especially fond of Liara, or the Asari in general
10: The concept of different gendered bathrooms eludes him
11: He can obtain information off of matter
12: Had to kill his entire squad after they were indoctrinated
13: Was designated as "The Vengance" of the Protheans, and was to survive to the current cycle to rebuild the Prothean Empire as to build up a force strong enough to defeat the Reapers.
14. Goes to wrong bathrooms.
15. Possibly only naked squadmate.( lol?)
16: Possibly included in the main game
17. Kinda teases paragon shephard for being too soft.
18.Located on Eden Prime?
19. He's first squadmate that is a bug. Cool.
20. He's a Prothean.( yeah, yeah, Captain Obvious)
21: Prothy is Insectoid looking. (whatever that means)
22: Prothy has more than 2 eyes. most propably - 4.

My theory though: Prothy was moved to the vanilla game.

The wall of text is mostly there to get some discussion going. I would lie if I said I didn't expect it to get a cold welcome.

I read all of that. O.O Good job! It sounds very plausible. I hope his name is Steve the prothean though.

Well it certainly deserves a bump every now and then.

Originally I meant to add the shorter version in the end of original post. You didn't have to delete all your work :-)

Protheans will likely play a big role in ME3. Visiting Mars is confirmed - maybe there we'll have the use of the trinket vision, since Mars was for sure the Prothean outpost for human study.

Also, Shepard is capable of communicating with Protheans (he knows the Cipher), so a Prothean (even if he is no squadmember) icharacter s quite possible.

Lets assume for a while, that 'Prothy' will be a squadmember. How do you imagine him?

Oh, don't worry, I still have it saved. I also made a blog out of the original post, so nothing has really gone to waste. ^_^

Yeah, exactly.

Yeah, and since asari can transfer information between minds through melding, Liara could give Prothy knowledge of modern languages.

Oh, well... something like this:

EDIT: Credit to Comoglio for making it. I think he goes by the name NCC Frosty here on BSN.

Question for OP:
Do you really want a prothean in the squad?

Haha, I'll draw him myself when I get home.

Well, I don't quite remember if Biotics existed before the Asari or is it the next' organics generation invention, but I'd rather think of possible Prothean squadmember as a biotic, since he'd certainly need to spend a lot of time learning to handle weapons or omni-tools (again, I don't fully remember it, but using the Omni-tool required some kind of implants).

A Prothean combat speciallist would be anti-climatic for me unless he uses prothean technology only.

Looking at your avatar and signature, it looks like you are obsessed with prothy. Well there is a small chance of getting to see a live prothean. As a squad mate?

Someone has to represent the new guy.

What speaks in favor of a prothean as a squadmate from a game perspective is that they can use the human animation skeleton for combat animations, much like turians, krogan, salarians, vorcha and batarians do. And the Collectors, of course.

From a story perspective? Hard to say, since we know next to nothing about ME3's story.

Well, Arcian seems not half as obsessed with Prothean squadmate as some of the users are with Kaidans anus.

I think Prothean squadmate is quite impossible and could be a little bit silly; No being would be in a shape and condition to fight after (presumably) spending millenia in cryo-stasis. However, he would be awesome and climatic member of ME3 Normandy crew, something like an expert on the whole Reaper situation.

Agree. I didn't mean obsessed thing in a bad way. But living protheans are anti-climatic for the story line because one of the main plot points is the total destruction of the protheans by the reapers.

That's so true that it's sad.

Cryo-stasis preserves the body as it is, so you don't lose muscle mass or overall vitality during sleep. Also, because of energy, the protheans have to awaken now and then every couple of centuries to restock on helium3 for their reactor and perform maintenance on the machinery, so they haven't been in cryo-stasis for millennia.
