...Were we reading the same quote? I think that it was painfully obvious that he was masking his opinion because Shepard didn't want him crushing Liara's spirit, and still thinks extremely low f the Asari.

Yeah he must be mighty pissed about the Asari. They were supposed to lead the galaxy against the next reaper invasion, but they instead became lazy and stagnated on both the protheans and reapers technology and only wanted to maintain their high position in the galactic society. They offered themselves and the rest of the civilizations to the reapers on a silver platter. If Shepard hadnt been in right place at a right time, all that the previous cycles did to stop the cycles would have been in naught.

Our cycle almost screwed everything up with their lazyness and incompetence to see the big picture.

This thread needs to get its butt back on the first page. My goodness, this took so long to type up that this thread is back on the first page already!

So let's talk about possible Prothy-related shenanigans with the rest of the squad! We know how things turn out with Liara, but what about Garrus? EDI? James? Tali? Kaidan or Ashley?

(Possible massive spoilers in the following rant, so watch out.)

I am already friendshipping him with EDI in my headcanon. See, he's all world-weary and cynical, and he hates synthetics. He has devoted himself to one sole purpose, to the point where he denies himself all else in life. EDI, on the other hand, is a goddamn ray of sunshine--she's smart, she's funny, and she's eager to learn more about the universe. She's a synthetic that cares about organics and even (so it is rumored) falls in love with one. And she has all this freedom she doesn't quite understand since she's become unshackled.

They are complete opposites in every way, and yet have a lot of things in common. Prothy's the last surviving member of a species that should have died out thousands of years ago, and his prothean mind means he processes things on a level others couldn't possibly understand (without the Cipher). EDI's the first in a new breed of artificial intelligence, one created through dubious means, and her mind operates in shockingly fast and often unpredictable ways. They are united in how alone they are, how apart from everything else they stand, how neither of them are supposed to exist. And both, despite how much they'll probably hate each other, despite how vastly different they are, will stop at nothing to put an end to the Reaper threat once and for all.

I think, at some point, a genuine friendship can blossom from that. If Prothy is the embodiment of vengeance, an avatar of a past cruelly stripped of its glory, a past out for blood, then EDI is the embodiment of hope, a glimpse of a future beyond the war, a future where nothing is certain but anything is possible. Both are needed to prevail in the coming conflict. They're smart enough to realize that, and I think they'll come together in the end, grudgingly at first, then finally with all the pride, wisdom, and camaraderie that comes from walking through hell together and making it to the other side.

And if this doesn't happen in the game, say hello to my headcanon, fellas.

Then again, who wouldn't get all warm and friendly towards everyone if they knew they had participated in ending the most destructive threat the galaxy has ever faced?

In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't just take her below deck and embrace her eternity during the celebratory festivities on the Normandy after the final battle.

That is, unless Cheez gets her claws on him first. Which she will.
