Well, one doesn't need to be DLC. They could both quite easily be in the base game (also, seeing as the other spoiler squadmate is also quite ingrained into the story, I would think it would be more liable to be in the base game than Prothy imo.) And besides, having both in the base game makes it so that Mesina will get that Batarian... Maybe, I actually have no idea.

You're most likely right but i haven't read the leaks so i can't base it if one is more important than the other.

I have, I can, and trust me. There is even dialogue hinting to spoiler 2 in a recent trailer. Definitely in the base game. The only question is wether Prothy is or isn't, and seeing as he has an entire art book page, I think he is also in the base game.

Um, I'd say -SNIP- being the DLC character is highly unlikely. If we're to assume the inclusion of their concept art within the art book means they're automatically non-DLC, then -SNIP- would be in the main game, much like Jack, Mr. P, Vega, Kaidan, Ashley, etc.

I came across something of interest that may shed some light on the identity of the DLC character. Over on page 60, I found a screenshot originally capped by fellow BSNer Caleb Dolan (cheers!). The said image comes from the unboxing of the Collector's Edition, btw. I turned it into a negative as doing so seemed to allow the silhouette of the character to *pop* out and appear a bit more recognisable in shape, though not by much. Also, I find if you look at the image from a few feet away it seems to take on a humanoid shape more than any other, at least to me. Think of this image as being part of one of those weird brain puzzles specifically designed to mess with your eyes. 

 

IMO, I see a guy in armour similar to what Benny's wearing in the debut trailer and he's holding what I believe to be an Incisor sniper rifle. Um, I think it's an Incisor... *studies the image a bit more* Ugh, now everything just smooshes together the longer I stare at it. 

If the image is indeed that of a human, I'd almost believe it to be Vega based on the shape, but he's already a known squadmate. So, if -SNIP- and Mr. P are disqualified as being DLC characters 'cos their concept art's in the art book, then this chap is someone entirely new.

Hm, you know, when I first saw the word "classified" stamped on the pic, the first thing to spring to my mind was a particular clue Bioware gave us before we knew ME3 was, well, ME3. I'm referring to a link which led us to the Secret Intelligence Service website. 

My final thoughts: I'd like to think the silhouette belongs to the Big Ben sniper. Perhaps Bioware realised how many fans the guy has and decided to change Mr. P's earlier DLC Only status to Main and put Benny in his place. *shrugs* No one can say for certain, at least until someone asks the real DLC character to please stand up.

Most of the Prothean concepts showed pretty bulky armour, particularly at the shoulders, and thats what this look like to me. He doesn't actually play an important role in the story, he simply adds to it. I reckon he still is the DLC character.

However, if it turns out to be the British sniper guy I'll still be pleased.

Nope. He's just called "The Prothean".

There were a rumor about him being called Javrik in the ability set list, but that's nowhere near confirmed.

Yeah, I could go with that name, too.  I can handle him just being called "Prothean" as well, for reasons already expanded upon (arrogant species, not eager to get "buddy-buddy" personal with the younger, lesser ones), though I can also see it being viewed as very...clinical.  Cold.  Probably even insulting.  Would be like calling any other squadmate by their species rather than their name.

I feel like his name will be unkown for a while and as he warms up to you he will tell you his name out of the blue, randomly. I love the concept of the Protheans being an arrogant race compared to this cycle because truthfully they really were superior to us in about every way.

I'd have preferred the Protheans to remain a dead race if I'm totally honest.If its well explained, guess it'll be acceptable If he is a base game squadmate though, I'm kinda of annoyed we are getting two new squadmates whilst ME2 characters are being sidelined. Just my opinion.

That would be awesome, and I agree.  If any species has a right to be (hilariously) arrogant, it would be the Protheans.  I can't wait to see his interactions with everyone play out in the game.  I have a feeling I'll be taking lots of recordings.
