Damn still no Bioware commentators/threats of punishment for hairpulling. We ARE more civil than the rest of the community. On another note anyone know anything about alternate armors for our biotic bug?

Interesting, are there any leaks in the demo?

And yes, We are more civil than the rest of the community, but this thread is moderated anyway (it used to contain ****loads of LS quotes).

P.S. - i tried to ask BW guys bout Prothy, but to no result

The prothean's textures are in the demo files. Does that mean he's in the main game?

Either that, or they cut him from the main game to make him DLC. The latter would actually be supported by the script, seeing as he was integral to the plot in the story draft file and then changed to non-integral in the dialogue file.

Well, the Prothean has two sets of files in the demo. Each of the file sets includes files for all squad members. The other squad members have far more files than the Prothean. This is the exact same situation that you see with the Zaeed files if you install ME2 without the Zaeed DLC. So I would say that unfortunately, Prothy is the DLC.

This makes me so happy! when i first got ME, I always thought: Oh, c'mon, protheans are smart, at least some large have had to survive. And they did! I'm gonna be so mad if it turns out we were wrong though :(

Dat Concept Art

Also, is anyone else disappointed that Prothy's second power is slam (as stated in the powers thread)? For someone who could presumably be the strongest biotic alive, slam is a pretty weak power (especially seeing how it's Miranda's exclusive power, no offence but she was never intended to be a strong biotic). I know the data is from the leak, and could of been changed. But seeing how every ME3 squadmate just has to have one of the ME2 powers, I doubt this is the case...

SPOILERS incoming for people who don't know the squad yet (which is none of you).

I see the following characters mentioned in the cooked files as "BioH_..."

Ashley
EDI
Garrus
Kaidan
Liara
Marine
Prothean

So this is clearly the squad, but who is marine?

Hes. The Prothean's name is indeed Javik*. It's in the TLK file from the demo (it wasn't in the leaked beta TLKs). Looks like the guy who posted about it was right.

Wait wait wait wait wait: Didn't that name have an "r" between the v and the i? Did you misstype, or was it wrong the first time around?

It's no big deal, but withour an "r", the name sounds very different to me.

Wow, how did I forget about Vega?

By the way, where exactly are the TLK files and how do you read them?

Edit: Found the files and the tlk tool.

The "r" was wrong. But the guy who posted the name also posted it once without the "r" so it seems like he himself wasn't exactly sure of spelling. One way or another, it's virtually impossible to guess someone's name just like that (with or without extra "r") so I definitely believe him

For some reason I found myself watching X-Men intros and it occurred to me... Why does Prothy not have Biotic eye lasers? x3

That'd be way cooler than Slam. x3

Oh. Ok.

I mean, both variants have that Russian name ring to them, but the "R"-less one is really close to a common name where I live (just by dropping the k, actually). In context, in the game, I'm sure it won't sound so weird to me. But right now, to my eyes it's like having an alien named "Jamesk", "Johnk" or "Thomask".

Well, it's not that uncommon some word/name means something in different language, or is very similar to. For example, Kaidan's name means this in Polish:

so yeah :P

That it's in the TLK files means nothing. ME2's TLK files suggested there was a mako mission, that there was an indoctrinatee monologue on the Derelict Reaper and that Samara came to earth in the 15th century, among a dozen other things. I'd lend more credibility to the art book, truth be told.

Of course, I could be wrong. We'll see on the 6th of march for sure.

I'd rather keep calling him Prothy for now. His TLK name sounds like this brand of bleach we have up in Canada.. (I really hope BW didn't name him after that lol)

If the the files are correct, then I have to say I quite like the name but I also liked it when it was spelt with the 'r' between the 'v' and 'i', as well. Of course he'll always be Prothy to me whether he has a name or not.

OT question; how do you cover spoilers? Do you just use a colour code?

I'm more curious as to how that individual is getting all his info on ME3 (a lot of which seems awfully correct)... :?

No one "called it". It was found in the old beta, presumably in the exact same TLK file.

Maybe he will be called Prothean by everyone and we can name him ourselves like the old days of RPG games lol so than we in this group can name him Prothy. I really do like that name, I just dont think any other name than that will make me happy at this time lol

If that's the case, I still wonder whether we will find out that name immediately, or whether he'll reveal it to Shepard later once her likes/respects/whatevers him/her enough. I haven't read anything from the leaked stuff, but Bioware's being so secretive about Prothy, it wouldn't surprise me if we find out his name more-or-less immediately once we actually play the game, even if it doesn't seem that way now.
