From what I've read on here, I think so too. But I get to wondering when Bioware's being so shifty about saying anything about him. Considering he's DLC (presumably) and most people will want to know what they're paying for before they pay for it, combined with the fact he's in the artbook, I have to wonder why they don't just say "Hey, there's a Prothean on the team!" It could hardly be considered a huge spoiler, for the two reasons above, if nothing else.

I agree, I mean the majority who has read the spoilers/hung around the boards most likely know that he is a squad member so why not just say it? But I think it might be all hushy because Bioware want people to be all

Maybe, but the people on BSN, and the ones who got the CE are a minority, so the ones who have to pay for the DLC will presumably know (or want to know) who/what he is before buying him. It seems awkward and strange to attempt to make a DLC character a secret one.Broodypants wrote...

True. I suppose we'll just have to wait for news or when ME 3 is out to find out if he is the DLC or not. Hopefully not. Would prefer if he was in the vanilla game although I wouldn't object to him being a DLC, as long as I can have Prothy on my team I'll be happy.

The name Javik was discovered far prior to the release of the demo, meaning it was available somewhere in the old files but obviously not used in the actual script. My suspicion is that the demo's TLK file is based on an older build than that of the leaked beta, perhaps deliberately to cut down on the spoilers people can access. At this point your reply will obviously be "But they probably cut out the story information for the demo!". It doubt it works that way. I doubt it's even that easy. The easiest way to cull story information would be to load up one of the oldest TLK files available, with as little story info as possible, and then modify it to fit the gameplay info and text from the demo build. If they used a newer build, they'd either have to release it with even more story spoilers or they'd have to sit and sift through all the available information to see what to cut and what to leave in without breaking the game's text. I doubt they'd have the patience or time for the latter.
Plus, why wasn't his name in the leaked beta? If they bothered to cut out all the story information in the demo build (which they didn't, there's still some story info left in there), why did they add his name to it? Why, in the leaked script, isn't there even a single reference to his name? Why isn't there a single line of dialogue where someone asks him what his name is? Why does he sign the Citadel guy's autograph with a "P" instead of a "J"? Why wouldn't they have added his name to the art book? It's not exactly a bigger spoiler than the guy himself.
From my viewpoint, everything points to Javik being a WIP name that was abandoned somewhere along development. Names, after all, are used to distinguish people within a group. He is the only prothean there is left. He doesn't need a name to distinguish his identity - he's a prothean and only one left. For all intents and purposes, he IS his species. Therefore, THE Prothean is the best label for his identity, and I believe the likely change from Javik to The Prothean reflects this.
Of course, I could be horribly wrong. I sincerely hope I'm not. I kind of like calling him Prothy.

Ok, I'll elaborate further. After all, the Revenant is cool, but it's not my favorite.
I think submachine gun + shotgun would be an awesome combination for him. Like Thane, but with a short-range weapon instead of a sniper rifle.
But of course I don't actually know how the weapons assignation will work in ME3. Will we be able to give a Widow rifle to, say, Garrus? (If we can, I think I'm going to faint)

If the Mattock is still anywhere as good he'll rock that, and a shotgun. I want biotic killing machine! Liara will rock a SMG, heavy pistol combo.
