hmmm when he talks calmly I love his voice....when he's yelling I hate it...hmm quite the conundrum he's still Prothy tho so I love him

edit: the more I listen the more I like it. This will be interesting soooooo excited for him!!

Phil LaMarr is a voice actor. You don't get far in the voice acting business without being able to make completely different voices as characters warrent. Even standard actors can't get away with that (or... shouldn't...)

The idea of a Prothean squadie sounds nice but from a story perspective it would really diminish the protheans role in my mind. The fact the last few on Ilos gave their lives so that the next people could fight was huge and really drove home the idea that without them the current races would have been doomed and have no hope. To suddenly have one on the squad after the rest of his race was killed or died helping the next group just makes him seem like coward who slept for 50,000 years when he could have been doing something useful like tell the council what happened so they could not just dismiss the reapers.

In all honesty I hope "prothy" is just a rumor BioWear is using to help drum up talk of the game.

I can quite assure you that this not just some rumor, this has been proven from the leaked script and the artbook (the Prothean even got 3 pages in the artbook, and thats 2 more than any of the other squadmates.) 

I hate to say it but the Prothean is in the game but is most likely DLC, if yo udon't want him don't buy him. simple as that.

Where are you people getting North African from? North Africans sound Arabic since that is what most of them speak nativly. The ascent in that vid is South or sub-saharan African.

Concerning the art book it is just concept art from what I understand and even detailed concepts are not official for certian. I also don't put much stock in anything with 'leaked' in its name. I can't and won't try to say that Prothy is not a cool idea but if true it just cheapens what the protheans are in the ME verse.

Dude, the Prothean's artwork in the MEU artbook IS his final design - they even show the finalized 3D model of his head.

He is a member of Shepard's squad, that is 100% certain.

I wouldn't take any notice to those comments. I've never once seen an intelligent discussion on a youtube video's comments. It's always dominated by ignorance, stupidity and cheap laughs.

Didnt that voice actor voice the rakata in kotor? Im guessing he was chosen for the nostalgia, since both rakata and protheans are Biowares inventions and ancient races with empires.

Okay, so after I posted "f*ck" my internet died, taking away my chance to elaborate. So it looks like I rage-quitted or something. But that's not what happened.


I was just... Disappointed. I didn't really think any kind of known accent would fit Prothy. But maybe it has something to do with me being a non-native english speaker. Or just the fact that I'm not used to it.


But not having the internet gave me a chance to think.


Why not? Why wouldn't Prothy sound like that? We already have eastern European Quarians, and it works amazingly well for them.


In fact, this reminds me of when I played Halo 2. You see, for some reason the Spanish dubbing on that game was southern american. I hated it immediately. You see, those accents reminded me of old Hanna Barbera cartoons, and a lot of other stereotypes and connotations. It was really, really weird hearing it on a sort-of military environment, and at first I thought it would be horrible to play the entire game.


But you know what happend? I loved it. Every single bit of it. And now I can't imagine the Arbiter's voice to sound any different from that.


So I'm still going to recruit Prothy as soon as possible, take him with me everywhere all the time, and love him till the end of time.
