Yes, I remember listening to a similar recoding of Harbringer's lines (One directly after the other without pauses, etc). And it was very different from how he sounded in the game. So I'm still not ready to judge, even though the initial feel of the voice distortion is kinda disappointing. Like some people said, Drell-ish, but... Weird. I guess it'll work better in context.

A head-mounted piece of heavy artillery.

Headcanon, on the other hand, is (from urbandictionary):

An idea, belief, or aspect of a story that is not mentioned in the media itself, but is accepted by either the reader themselves or the fandom in general. If it is confirmed by the author of the story, it becomes canon

So if you had a super clear picture of what Protheans were like in your head, that was your headcanon. If Prothy turns out to be too different from your canon, you will have to "adjust it", so to speak. 

I personally didn't have "a headcanon" of Prothy's voice, what I had were expectations. And the leaked audio does not fit those expectations, so after an intense period of "wtf is this", I started to like it. And each time I listen to it, I like it more and more.

Can't wait to find out the context for "That spares us two bullets"

I didn't think it suited him either, but that's because the accent has connotations for me. And, I guess, for you too. But it's important to learn to get past that.

Also, because I had in mind something like Harbinger's voice, and couldn't get Keith Szarabajka's voice out of my head when I imagined him talking.

But right now I'm getting used to the accent, associating it with his face and concluding that he does sound badass, and if there's something Prothy should be first and foremost, is sexy badass. Since he appears to have that covered, we shouldn't be that worried... Right?
