I was sincerely hoping that he would instead be Paragon-ish and be the nicest guy in the whole damn game, because I always got this feeling off of Protheans that they were like extra-kind.
Well, I guess I'll see for myself.

They were described as something like the Egyptians or Romans of space. Nothing in that description makes them magnanimous, but rather forceful. I'd imagine Prothy would have to do what most alien members do, and that's having some of the characteristics of their people. His dialogue makes him sound like a wise warrior, with an old soul. If I had to compare him with someone I'd compare him with Katsumoto from The Last Samurai. Respectful towards everyone, but firm and violent if crossed. At least that's the impression I got from the dialogue and his look.

I think what Bioware was trying to do was add a Prothean, but at the same time not take too much away from their mystery as a whole. Many people wanted a Prothean squadmate but at the same time many people didn't want their mystery spoiled.. I think Prothy is a compromise.MonkaCZ wrote...

They could have added a scientist (Liara type) with all the answers. But they add this seemingly plain old solider who knows basic details but by no means has all the knowledge.
I think he's just pissed off that all his people were killed. Being the last human wouldn't be very fun. I'm sure it would make most people "Renegadish" if not completely insane.

It's probably going to be the same as when you took Legion around public areas. The only time I can think of where someone made a comment about Shepard having a live Geth was the beginning of Overlord DLC.
That would be disappointing. The only time anyone other than Tali made a fuss about Legion was when he accompanied me on my visit to the Flotilla. Even then, I thought the Quarians underreacted.

Just like with Garrus, you can push him towards being paragon. It takes a lot longer than with Garrus, though.MonkaCZ wrote...

Has it been confirmed that Prothy is dlc? I ask this because while listening to his dialogue, squadmates are talking to him, and with Zaeed and Kasumi the only dialogue they had was with Shepard.
I think they sometimes reacted to what other squaddies said if you brought them on missions. Didn't Zaaed react to Grunt's 'Is anyone else hungry?' about the burning bodies on Mordin's recruitment mission

But Grunt doesn't talk to him. Kasumi did the same. Prothy's dialogue show's he's asked by Garrus, Liara, and someone else whether SurKesh is as beautiful as his home world, and he responds. Zaeed 's got nothing like that in the game. To be fair there's very few moments where party members talk to one another in ME2.

I really like the sound of that! As for him leaning more towards renegade-style morality, I really like that. After having the renegade-style characters in ME2 agreeing with renegade mostly just because they like killing things (Jack, Grunt, Zaeed, Morinth), it'd be nice to see someone who has different reasons for agreeing with that path. I guess there was Miranda and Garrus in ME2, but this description reminds me a little of how I always saw Wrex, and that certainly isn't a bad thing.
@Arcian, I don't think it will ever stick with Garrus though. You can encourage him to be paragon in ME1, but he goes back to renegade/renegon in ME2, and I think it will be exactly the same with the Sidonis decision, once we reach ME3.

Apparently *highlight below* [warning: Spoilers for Prothy's ending fate]
Prothy has two endings. One if he's friends with Liara (and paragon'd I assume) he lives and writes a biography, another is if he's renegaded (I guess) and not close to Liara he commits suicide
Yay. >_>

Paragon: Decides to find meaning and purpose beyond the war, to start over, to remember and cherish the past instead of letting loss embitter him.
Renegade: After fulfilling his purpose, decides to go off and finally rest alongside the brave men he left behind, recognizing that the galaxy belongs to the new races and handing it over freely.
Both are pretty decent and kind of philosophical and poetic, IMO. Either way, he gets the peace he deserves.

Spoilers below.
To be honest though I'd prefer if he died regardless. The circumstances simply differed depending on alignment. The autobiography tripe leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe if he did it on his own it wouldn't bother me so much but as it is...not liking it. That and TBH I'd prefer if Shepard wasn't able to change his alignment. He's a 50k year old being. Why on earth would he listen to some barely past 30 year old like Shepard when it comes to his life and his outlook? Respecting Shepard? Fine. Having Shepard change his world outlook though...meh.To me it's like being able to make Samara renegade or Wrex paragon. Just...no. The whole "give him a reason to live" thing is just...meh. I am heavily bias though as I love when the proud warrior dude dies in battle or after the job's done
IMO of course.

ME3 has a lot of death in it already, and there are parts where you can lose teammates on top of that. So Prothy could still wind up dead.
About the autobiography: I thought he was just going to help Liara write a book about the Protheans in general. The way he described it, I think she's just going to write about her own research and adventures, while he hovers over her shoulder and b*tches when she makes him look bad or gets details wrong. It's cute. And now I'm shipping them.
Damn my fandom!

I laughed when I first heard his voice, but it was just out of shock. I like his voice and I'm absolutely looking forward to talking to him. I really hope he's part of the main game, because he seems like the most plot-relevant member of the squad.

Shepard does stuff like that to everybody. Look at Wrex and all the loyalty missions. If it bugs you, don't lecture him.

Except Wrex alignment isn't changed at all. You talk him down from shooting you using some logic that Wrex if he hadn't been so quick to jump the gun would've realized. Shep can only change 3 characters alignment: the VS (if an LI or flirty), Miranda and Jack. That's it.
Other then that most (save Miranda) of the people Shep lectures are younger then him. (That and Miranda to me has the personality type that lends itself to being molded by people around her.)
Actually pretty sure you can't kill him if you don't take the first chance.
Bleh. No offense but bleh. I have finally found a ship that doesn't involve rape, incest or abuse that utterly repulses me. Didn't think I'd see the day. And yeah...I'd still rather he either died in both endings or lived in both of them. Not even going to get into the Liara bit. Renegade could just as easily be about survival and making sure the Reaper threat is exterminated completely (and remaining vigilant from new threats of the Reapers (or new synthetics like the Reapers) given that in certain endings this will defintely be a concern. Hi there control and destroy.) Instead of going job well done and kicking the bucket. And Paragon could be about helping organics rebuild (don't see what good a biography is going to do when some planets will be rubble. Far better to help people by with the rebuilding then writing some book. He can do that later.

Note that if you don't recruit him, you don't meet him in ME2.
As for the last part, hey, whatever floats your boat. Me? I'm a fan of redemption stories, of finding a reason to live in a dark universe with no real purpose, of finding a reason for hope in the face of inevitable death. It's part and parcel of the "optimistic atheist" thing I've got going--it's nice to see it reflected in a videogame.
I also like the odd couple, and in my headcanon, everyone on my squad will one day be best bros with everyone else.
Thankfully, you can totally do the other path and get the fate you want. That's the lovely thing about Mass Effect, and I must say your preferred ending is just as appealing.
EDIT: GOD DAMN IT WOMAN STOP EDITING YOUR POSTS I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH ALL THE NEW POINTS.
