6 hours in MS paint.
I suck.
But I had to make it for this thread, seriously.

Well, as the new dude to the BSN, I'd like to say hello to all of you.
So howdy.
But I've got to ask a question concerning the 'controversy from the Prothean's DLC.
WHY are people flipping out about it?
Well, after glancing at some of the responses from the 'From Ashes' thread, some are being 'civil' about it.Cthulhu42 wrote...

Ha well if you're referring to this video, I uploaded that. If not I can answer you anyway. Someone brought out an upgraded audio extraction tool that was basically the same thing used in Mass Effect 2, just with a few changes.Mr. Sandman2190 wrote...

Jeez.
But I digress.
After listening to the prothean's lines, I'm curious as to how it was extracted from the demo.
(The line in which he says 'enough to kill you' nearly sent shivers down my spine.)
EDIT:@Axis: I like that picture.

You pretty much load the data files into that and it will extract all of the audio. It's a tedious job shifting through all the audio files though.. I had to sit there listening to 6,000 + files to identify all the Prothy lines.. Even then I still missed a few (I went back later and found them, but saw no point in updating a video for a couple more lines).
Oh and welcome...
I have to say, this is one of the most peaceful topics I've seen on BSN. So enjoy your stay.

As for being able to find the prothean's lines in the demo.... that is pretty damned kick-ass.
Save for the tedious part--But being able to extract 6,000 lines from a snippet from the actual game?
To paraphrase Garrus--actually Thane, 'excellent' (I think Thane says it anyhoo.)
I get the impression that the Prothean is gonna be the team's most vicious member and something of a powerhouse.
And I do love me some powerhouses.

His "default" weapon loadout are Heavy Pistols and Shotguns, but while it's true that we can now give our squadmates any weapon class that we want in ME3, a lot of us in the Powers thread suspect that giving them weapon classes that aren't part of their "default loadout" will decrease their powers cooldown rates dramatically (meaning that while Liara could run around with a Revanant and a Widow if she wanted, her powers recharge speeds would increase through the roof and she couldn't use her powers nearly as much as just giving her a Pistol and an SMG)Mr. Sandman2190 wrote...
I wonder what his initial 'loadout' is---actually that may be somewhat ridicioulos to ask. Since we can give the squaddies any weapon in the game.

And thus, if I made the Porthean roll with a Assault/Shotgun combo, I am risking the possibility of slowing down his cooldown.AVPen wrote...

Since he seems to be a biotic, it would appear so.Mr. Sandman2190 wrote...
Also, from his 'default' slecetion, I'm getting the impression that the Prothean MAY be the team's Vanguard. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, however.
From what we've been able to piece together from both the previous leaked script and the files extracted from the demo, Javik is indeed a biotic who we believe gets Slam, Dark Channel (a new power similar to Reave or Warp, only that it slows down an enemy's movement in addition to damaging him), along with two other "regular" biotic powers like Pull, Throw, or Shockwave.Mr. Sandman2190 wrote...

@AVPen- Dark channel sounds interesting-Biotic focus even more so.
So it strengthens the powers of squadmates and allows to use powers over and over again?
Sounds like something extremely useful-if it's in the final game.
Also, I'm going to try and find this 'Powers' thread to see some more of the squadmates powers.
