Maybe the collector thing is a flashback he has to the past, or maybe they had some hidden somewhere. Maybe reapers brought some with them after all, they can after all carry things inside them.

Who knows. It would be nice to fight collectors again, a blast from the past...

It looks like a Prothean version of the Collector Particle beam from ME2, I hope thats the bonus weapon for the DLC.
