I can only imagine how the concept meeting must have gone:AdmiralCheez wrote...
Skimming through a few of the spoilers, and I think I'm going to love Prothy.
Basically, "everything is expendable in war and I am magnificent."
Very warrior-philosopher. Like if Thane lost his religion and became more of a douchebag.
Also -spoilerlol- They handled him well.

I hope we can challenge his views. I do not necessarily disagree with him, but I think the weak deserves a chance to become strong before they are left to their fate, which is why I save so many in Mass Effect. Everyone deserves a chance, even if they might not use it well.

Also, I think you have the ability to kill him when you first meet him instead of recruiting him.

I'm going to go all Talimancer and say I don't really care how he will look since he sounds awesome. Or well, reads awesome... ly. I am positive he will sound awesome as well, provided they find a good voice actor and don't botch the voice filter*.hhh89 wrote...
I really like the Prothean. He seems a lot like Sten, as others said.
I'm eager to see how he looks. Considering that there are different species under the Prothean Empire (which philosophy resembles a lot the Qunari's, even their view on magic/machines), he could be different from the statues on Ilos.

I do too, but I personally love having squadmates that I idealogically disagree with. I don't believe in ends justifying the means (Garrus), I don't believe in god and I want to work with aliens (Ash), I like the geth and think the quarians should find a new world to colonize (Tali), I don't believe in souls and we should take responsibility for the bad things we do (Thane), the Code is bullsh*t (Samara), there's more to life than just killing things and being the strongest (Grunt), it's petty to devote your life to revenge (Zaeed), Cerberus are doucheholes (Miranda), it's important to have people in your life that you can trust (Jack), theft is a pretty lousy hobby (Kasumi), the genophage was necessary at the time but an abomination (Mordin), killing for pleasure is disgusting (Morinth), it's pretty dumb to go out and kill for money instead of focusing on rebuiding the krogan empire if that's what you think is killing your people (Wrex), and we don't go all psycho and become a crook to get back at someone (Liara).Medhia Nox wrote...
Hmmm - gotta say, if that's the Prothean motto - I might have one moment of "Renegade" that I won't be able to resist.
"The strong survive, the weak perish." - Prothean.
"I agree, say hello to history." *blam! blam! blam!* - My Shepard.
I despise that philosophy - and feel it should be used to its furthest outrageous conclusion on the people who believe in it.

Never found myself disagreeing much with Kaidan, Jacob, and Legion, but Legion is an almost strictly logical being and asks questions rather than jumping to conclusions, and Kaidan and Jacob are pretty low on my list of interesting characters.
Disagreement is fun for three reasons:
1. You feel accomplished when you see the character finally change their mind and grow a little.
2. It forces you to double-check your own conclusions and improve yourself.
3. The tension between you and your squadmates makes for more interesting conversations, because god damn it, what a bunch of boring sheep they'd be if all they ever did was agree with you.

Oh, I would love to see Liara's reaction to that.

This is one of the best post I've ever seen. Its funny cause Legion and Garrus are the only ones I agree with. Like you said Legion is logical and ask questions. I also kind of believe the ends justify the means for the most part. I can also see why Wrex became a mercenary. etc.

Well, he thinks of the geth as untrustworthy, soulless machines and at one point, he calls most races too primitive and that the salarians are nothing but lizards that used to eat flies back in his cycle.
And he's throwing half-insults at Liara, because there's a certain part with the asari that he apparently finds too comical to let go.
So, yeah. Bit of an assh*le, but he has his moments.

Yeah, if you say the wrong things, he'll think that you're with the Reapers or Cerberus and attack you.

Seriously, though, I love picking fights with my squadmates. And with Prothy, I hope Shepard's example proves that the "weak" are worth more than he thinks.
Or he could just stay a douchehole. Which is fine. Doucheholes are fun.
I can see the image macro now... Every time someone says/does something too paragon-y on the forums, someone posts a picture of Prothy scowling: "Weakness."
