I actually believe that what we saw was their armor. Protheans seemingly had this organic technology thing going on with the beacons and what not. And from a lore perspective, Shepard's Collector Armor kind of partially supports it.

Could explain why there is a significant physical difference between Ilos protheans and the description of Prothy in the script.

So Protheans had organic armor too? That's cool.

Possibly. I could be wrong. I'm just interpreting what we've seen so far. The protheans seem to have a thing going about organic technology... not so surprising, considering what happened in the past with the you-know-what that nearly destroyed them.

In fact, what if the Collector Cruiser is actually a prothean vessel, retrofitted to serve the Reapers purpose? Think about it.

EDIT: Asked Mac about it. I'm totally expecting a "Can't tell you that 'cause of spoilers"-answer, but hey, at least I I've tried.

I was skeptical about the whole Prothy idea before, but at this point... color me impressed. Looking forward to it.

I think that's a bit of a leap.

It doesn't match any other Prothean technology we've come across. Could might as well be junk they've collected from the debris field around their base. Not to mention that it's ugly as sin.

I'll probably give him a Collector assault rifle if he's using those, though.

I'm also really curious about that *spoiler*memory crystal or whatever he has.*spoiler*

That would be something worth sharing.

Agreed, Prothean relics have an astheic to them that Collector technology does not.  I sincerely feel that the collector vessels and base are the work of the reapers.

That memory crystal is less important than what's in it and how it works, I think.  Still its a great plot device between Shepard and Prothy near the end of the story.

I'm 100% sure that the Prothean will be available for all version. His presence in ME3 isn't related to anyt choice you did in the previous games (other than the fact that it'll be dumb to make a squadmate available by a specific choice of a game that not all the players could do).

That is, unless you choose to kill him. Then he'll be affected by your previous choices.

Then again, it could just be a vial of water.

Protheans seems to get all wet (hoho) over that.

The Prothean.

You can make him believe that you're with the Reapers and that you're out to destroy him. He'll attack you, and then you'll have no choice but to kill him.

That's just what I need--more pseudoscience in my Mass Effect.

Oh well.  Space babes and psychic powers.  I tolerated that, I can handle this.

@Arcian - I had that same impression (about them being suits) from a picture someone posted of a Collector recently. Of course - I imagine that the Collectors are fused with those suits.

Yup. There are weirder things in Mass Effect.

The Protheans calls it evolution and I have no idea about how that works exactly, so I'll let that one fly.
