None as far as I can see.

They're just referring to him as "you" or "guest" or "the Prothean"

I'd guess that they haven't come up with a good name yet. It makes it pretty easy to know which character they're talking about in some cases, though.

Isn't Prothy important for ME3 main plot? Just yes or no, don't know any major spoiler outside of Geth/Quarian conflict ending.

That was my interpretation, but I keep hearing people say he's not important to the main plot, which kind of confuses me.

Anyway, regardless I'd rather have Prothy as a baseline squaddie and get a batarian or female turian as a DLC character instead.

He is not.  Spoiler follows:


You will lose out on a ton of information about the last Reaper invasion, but he is the first to remind you that he was born only for vengance in the midst of the extinction.  You will also not be able to access the Prothean VI, Vendetta, but there are other ways, like letting Kai Leng steal it, which allows Cerberus to crack it.  It just means you don't know what the Crucible does until Cerberus does.


At least, that's the way it seems to go in the leak.

By all means, correct me if I'm wrong or you saw something different in the script! 

I specifically remember (major spoilers for Prothy, as always may not be accurate now):

Shepard asks Prothy about the crucible plans, and if he has any idea what the weapon does or how to make it.  He only heard of it, but never saw anything about how to make it (he's a warrior, not a tech or scientist), his mission was to rebuild the Prothean Empire after the Reapers were done sacking it.  He would then prepare the next cycle to fight the Reapers, however he was betrayed by indoctrinated Protheans.  He is similarly clueless about Ilos, though he knows that it was doing something important.

Over all, I think killing him would be a shame and a waste, as he's got a whole bunch of cool dialogue from a very nasty perspective on your squad mates, and calls many of the Gary Stu/Mary Sue characters out on the carpet.
