BALLS

Does he have them?  Does he play?  Will he dance at the?  Does he crush them in high heels because he crossdresses?

Sillyness aside, I still can't wait to see how they do this character.  He's going to be interesting in the begining, and poignant as things go on.

"How do we get the universal translator to understand him?" to "This is the **** sandwich you can expect to eat when the Reapers start winning son, as it was in my cycle."

Is it strange that, not too long ago, I would've thought Prothy was the dumbest idea ever?

Now he's the character I look forward to meeting the most.

Also, how DID they get the translator to understand him?

I guess Liara had a Prothean - English textbook somewhere.

So much for that problem.

I can't wait to know what he looks like, though.

We're going to have such a odd bunch of squadmates on the team. :P

Was there no clues to how he looked in the script?

(Haven't read it)

None other than he looks like statues of certain gods and certain angels in certain religions on a certain planet(that we have yet to see).

Well, there are only comments from the squadmates, which seems to imply that he has the traits of a Collector (multiple eyes, looks like a bug, etc) but I don't think there's any indication to if a Prothean actually looks like those Cthulhu-man statues on Ilos or more like a Collector.

Prothy's probably going to end up as calamari gumbo if Gardner's not paying attention.

I know I keep repeating myself on this, but before ME2 people thought Legion was the dumbest idea ever. Then after ME2 was released, he became wildly popular, and nowadays very few people question the legitimacy of his status as a "good" geth or a squadmate *coughcerberusfanscough*.

You'll see, the future will vindicate Prothy. 4 months from now, we'll all be laughing over his venomous, Sten-like wit and badassedness, and shedding manly tears over his somber stories of the last cycle and how his people and empire crumbled before him.

It will be glorious. And sad. But mostly glorious.

Serious theories:

1. Vigil download translation to Shepard and one of his/hers squadmates translators.

2. EDI analyzed Prothean language and with help of Prothy, quickly translate that to everyone.

3. Protheans knew every/most human language already which helped in quick translation.

Shepard understands Prothean through the Cipher acquired on Feros. That's a very valuable ability for any expert in matters Prothean, like Liara. She took Shepard for a few sessions of recording in the time between ME1 and ME2. Since then, knowledge of the Prothean language has proliferated through the scientific community. From there, programming their translators is a simple step.

They didn't. Protheans were the ones who created the English language.

"He is not real", they said.

I would laugh at their ignorance if my situation was not so overwhelmingly negative.

Major flaw that blows this threads theory out of the water

we already know that the illusive man is Indoctrinated(the eyes) - we already Know that in ME3 Cerebus is gunning for Shepherd and his team

there is NO WAY a 'prothy' coudl emerge or be found on MArs and not be scooped up by Cerebus immediately. - more likely killed immediately given the Illusive mans indoctrination.

I have read the leaks, and this part is not true. The Illusive Man is 100% himself in ME3.

Not sure what that has to do with anything.

If you had read the OP, you'd have seen that this was my point. I surmised that Cerberus found the prothean and are holding it contained, and whoopdie-f***ing-do, that's exactly what's stated in the script. The only difference is that the planet isn't Mars as I initially believed.

Cool baseless assumptions, bro.

Prothy is happening regardless of what you think. And that isn't a theory, it's fact - straight outta the leaks.

Don't like it? Deal with it.

I'll admit, I'm liking the prospect of Prothy.

My own thoughts on it were far more... drunken, at the time.

I can't wait to bring him out on a mission and then catch a Reaper's attention.

Shepard: Excuse me... Mr. Reaper?

Reaper: *Deep booming voice* I'm a lady.

Shepard: Sorry ma'am...

Reaper: Don't worry about it - it's easy to make a mistake like that. What is it Shepard - I've got worlds to devastate!

Shepard: You missed one.

Reaper: What? I missed...

Shepard: *points at Prothy*

Reaper: OH... c'mere you little morsel... *reaches out for Prothy*

Prothy: Shepard... you bastard! *is gobbled up*

Shepard: Survival of the fittest chap... *goes off to wreck some more Reaper ass*

Seriously, though, I love picking fights with my squadmates.  And with Prothy, I hope Shepard's example proves that the "weak" are worth more than he thinks.

But if the weak are not simply weak, then they have strength. If they have strength, and are strong enough to succede, that's what Prothy respects.

You wouldn't be disproving his philosophy... only that he underestimated some groups in particular. Which would only further validate him.

Or he could just stay a douchehole.  Which is fine.  Doucheholes are fun.

I can see the image macro now...  Every time someone says/does something too paragon-y on the forums, someone posts a picture of Prothy scowling: "Weakness."

If I could figure out how to post pictures, rather than just link to them...

Fortunately it's extinction of the weak, rather than pathetically petty.

I simply believe that every man (being in this case) should be exposed to the most extreme resolution of their own personal philosophy.

So - if Prothy survives my play through - he'll indeed be fit.

===

Oh, no need to resort to name calling Dean.

If you say so.

The truth is I won't even both with him - I'll talk to him, disagree with him, and have him sit in whatever hole he decides to crawl into on my ship...

Wait... actually, I won't even be getting him - he's the Collector bonus right? *shrugs* Hardly a thought then.
