i fully support prothy and this thread, i would like the idea of the "extinction" of the protheans to come full circle as one of the last(or the last) prothean helps all the galactic civilizations come together to beat the reapers (side note) i want one of those prothy squadmate banners so bad!!

 why? it makes sense with the way they left the plot points on eletania, and the firewalker dlc(forgot the planet) openfor ME3

Just because a species is believed to be extinct doesn't mean they are,especially when that species spanned the whooe galaxy.

On a serious note, I am hearing incredibly clear echoes from the pre-ME2 times with Legion when people speculated he could be a squadmember. Or is the key to an ancient weapon etc etc." Like I said I find the idea quite interesting, but I'd love that particular story (if the Prothean is in there) to deal with that character dealing with the fact they are the last, that they a awake to find the universe in the state it was when they cryoed (just about), and they're totally helpless to do anything about it and totally alone.  That kind of story, that kind of rising above themselves in the most dire of situations would be really interesting and go well with Shep's rag tag bunch of allies from all over the galaxy.

I'd be fine with a Prothean squadmate. Despite the Reapers being the highlight of Mass Effect, I am curious about the Protheans and if this guy/girl could give us some insight into them I'd welcome it.

Plus, if he/she is the last, not like they Protheans will be making a racial comeback. He/she just gets to live to see the end of the very creatures that caused his/her species end....possibly.

This is exactly what I want. Exactly. I want Prothy's focus to be on his emotions and experiences of returning to a galaxy he/she has known but which has radically changed, and how he/she emerges out of the hideout only to find that the cataclysmical invasion that destroyed his/her life all those millennia ago is now repeating itself like some kind of cruel joke.

What I want with Prothy is an insight into the prothean species and their tragedy. But I also want resolve, this kind of indomitable character trait that basically tells us that this guy/gal and his/her compatriots held out for thousands of years after the end of their civilization, and that now - even in face of another seemingly unstoppable invasion - they will not be bent or broken.

I think that would be amazing.
