A batarian would probably be too much like Prothy though, in that he'd be the "badass" of the team. I can't really see it happening.
He'd be Prothy's b***h right from the start.
Oh and he is a DLC.
His mission has little connection with the main plot and he has nothing better to come with than being another squadmate to assign certain things to, like disabling AA guns.
Just because Zaeed and Kasumi were different in ME2 doesn't mean the Prothean is going to be the same.

I think he'll be a free DLC for new copies like Zaeed.

People DID criticize Zaeed & Kasumi for being "half-asses"/incomplete squadmates so frankly, it would only make sense to me the DLC character in ME3 would be far better integrated. BioWare DOES listen to alot of criticism and changes things based on it (when they can)
Well, I'm sure, that too much rage would emerge, if Prothy's interaction would resemble Kasumi's or Zaeed ones. Although I didn't mind Zaeed that much, cause his stories were cool. Kasumi is quite a fail charachter imho though.

I also still think Prothy is DLC, partly because I can't imagine who the DLC character could be if it wasn't him.
Okay, i have to use one of my ace arguements.
Uber Spoiler Alert.
DLC character - EDI. Robot Edi.
Spoiler unalert.
Add this to missions involving Prothy and we get.... Heh we get him in the main game.

Umm, isn't the Mars mission a main part of the game? I mean disabling the bot and uploading EDI into Eva (EDI, ai from the moon we fought in me1)

And on Mars we fight Fembot. (Script name) And we will meet her troughout the whole game. So hijacking her body at the start is imposssible

You did read this thread, right? (which is a paraphrase version of a Game Informer article on its writer playing the first 6 hours of the game, including the Mars mission)LTiberious wrote...

After that, you learn that Cerberus had one of its own on the research staff, a woman named Eva, and she's been using this time to grab the data and she starts transmitting it. There's a chase sequence and it turns out she's been cybernetically enhanced (and heavily so from the sound of it). You chase her and she makes it her shuttle, but Vega saves the day by smashing into it with some kind of vehicle (article doesn't specify). This has the side-effect of wrecking the comm gear she had on her. Unfortunately, it doesn't kill her, and she attacks Kaidan, nearly killing him. Shep takes her down for good, and it's off to the Citadel.

So what the writer of Game Informer saw and played through... his experience with the first 6 or so hours of the finished game (minus the EDI+Eva reveal, for obvious reasons).... isn't the "ultimate truth"?LTiberious wrote...
Fembot will be troughout the game (Thanks Scripty).

Well, lets say that there can be plot turns.
