Now that I think about it, a little bit of both.  He's got Wrex's cynicism and badassery, and Samara's mystique and harsh, unshakable code of beliefs and values.  Meanwhile, he's all set to charge right into the heat of battle and raise biotic hell.

My Adept will probably be taking Biotic Focus as a bonus power.  Helloooo, win button.

It's definitely good that Prothy's a strong biotic; the ME3 team is otherwise a little weak in that area, outside of Liara.

Yeah, people who didn't save Kaidan, didn't roll a biotic class, and don't like Liara would be a bit screwed.  They're still screwed if they don't have the CE.

I may have to role Garrus and Prothy as my go to squad this time around. Prothy is without a doubt gonna be my favorite new squadmate. Hmmmm this squad I'm gonna have to mix and match groups...more than the other games... but the majority of the game will be Garrus/Tali, Garrus/Liara, and Garrus/Prothy

Ha, you have it easy!  I want to use James and Ashley just as much, and I'll even give the other new squadmate I don't like much a go just to see how she handles in combat.

As much as Tali and Liara are my soul sisters, they will be doing a lot of waiting on the ship.  Which is a bit sad, since they were my go-to team back in ME1 (rolling soldier for first run, as is tradition).

Or I could just play around with each squadmate for a few missions right after I recruit them, then move on to the next one as soon as they're available.

Any guesses as to when we pick up Prothy?  I know the first few missions are a bit railroady as to whom you can drag along with you, but I hope we get him early-ish.

I have no idea when we get Prothy, but from what I've been hearing, him and Tali may be the last two recruited, which irks me to no end.

Anyway, if we're talking about how much we're going to use everybody, I anticipate the amount I use each character in my first playthrough to go something like this (from most to least):
Tali
Garrus
Prothy
Liara
Vega
*spoiler* (I assume everyone here knows it, but you can't be too sure)
Kaidan

And Kaidan got dead, sadface.

I'll probably wind up using Liara more often than I'd like to admit because she's so damn useful, and Ash and James less than I'd like since, you know, I'm a soldier.

I say you should play around with each squady and get a feeling for each then decide from there. But for me Garrus is a must have on every mission. He has been with on every mission since his recruitment in both games and who am I to mess with tradition? 

as for when we get prothy, I've heard we get him from everywhere from early game to mid game so I'm guessing somewhere in between there

There could be people who know about Prothy but not the other one; it doesn't hurt to be careful.

As much as I hate to admit it, SPOILER and Vega are probably going to be on my squad along with Prothy more than I would like. I hate the two of them immensely, but their builds are too good for me to be picky with. Vega gets Carnage and Frags, while SPOILER fills Mordin's niche nicely as the anti organic techie. Also, if Prothy isn't the DLCmate, I will probably use whoever it is just because I have no earthly idea who it might be, and I find that exciting.
