Well put, that's what i was trying to say. There was a certain finality to the DAII story that made me feel not hungry for more, but indeifferent. I liked knowing that not everything was sunshine and rainbows after the Blight, and that some things were, but my Warden had a connection to it all in some way.TRSniper4 wrote...
I would like this feature back, too. It really made me feel like what I did mattered, since I could read exactly what occurred as a result of my actions. Just knowing that life continues beyond the final cut scene can mean a lot.

But that doesn't mean I'd object terribly to them returning.

I'd prefer to see the consequences of my actions than to read about them.
We saw a multitude of consequences in Origins, the epilogue was an extension of that, showing that your choices continued to make waves even after the war was over. In DAII, we didn;t get any of that.

No we didn't, what we got were cosmetic changes that had no bearing on the actual game.harkness72 wrote...

Kind of like what was done with *WARNING - MAJOR SPOILERS FOR* Mass Effect 2 here.
I think the whole key to the game from a story standpoint was supposed to be the friendship/rivalry mechanic, and who would be maxed out as friend or rival at the end (seemingly intended to be quite similar to Mass Effect 2's loyalty mechanic). Except that the friend/rival meters built up too slowly throughout the game, and the actual final fight didn't quite put friendship/rivalry on the line in stages like the way ME2 did based on your choices.
And even though I think knowing who could and could not take place in the final battle is interesting in its own way, I do think a more-specifically crafted epilogue, without slides/cards, would have made the final few minutes more interesting.

Is it just me who wants a real epilogue back? I loved reading about the locations, characters and events which I had influence over in Origins, a small round-up of what hasppened after the Blight. I know the reason for getting rid of this was supposedly becuase we'd be able to see things happend as they happen (by which they of course meant that the exact same thing would happen when it hapenned no matter what you did), but I infinately preferred reading about Anora and The Warden marrying, or talking to Wynne about going to Tevinter with Shale than hearing Varric give the exact same fate for every companion (excluding LI). Do you think there's any chance they'd bring the Origins style epilogue (cornation and then slides) back? How I pine for it...
I got the feeling that they probably wanted to make another Hawke story, if so that was likely why we didn’t get an epilogue: Varric could not get into details as his story was not complete.

Corny, I know, but it's what I like in stories. Also I think it would totally awesome to hear Varric say it.

No we didn't. All we got were different factions.
If I saved the mages, I don't even see that many mages in the Tower. I see 7 tops, when the cinematic shows dozens. Where were they? Were they in the basement? Did Godwin's armoire lead to Narnia? Why does it take them 2.5 years to clean up the Tower? The Abomination corpes exploded into fire, so they don't have to deal with them. Demons just dissolve into the ground. All they have to do is pick up books and burn the corpses that didn't burn themselves. And considering the Grand Cleric of Denerim sends more Templars to the Circle Tower, it shouldn't have taken them 2.5 years to clean up the Tower.
If I choose Bhelen, why can't I see a bunch of Casteless going out into the Deep Roads to fight any Darkspawn? Why isn't Bhelen actually doing these reforms? Why does he have to wait until the Blight is over to start making reforms, when he should be making reforms as soon as he took the throne? The best I hear are two casteless thugs saying Bhelen will use the Casteless, but that isn't showing. It's telling.
If I spare the Anvil, why can't I see more Golems in Orzammar? Or in the Anvil of the Void itself? Caridin took notes on what he was doing, and Branka was certainly able to master it eventually, but all I see are two Golems in Redcliffe that serve as statuary rather than as an actual way to defend Redcliffe when **** hits the fan. Granted, that's more showing of what happens with a choice than the others, but still. More was needed.
I actually always wondered why Redcliffe fell so easily. There were 3 Dwarves (7 total if you saved those 4 on the road), 4 soldiers, 1 Captain, 2 Golems, 3 Dalish, and 4 Mages, and not to mention the rest of Redcliffe's forces.

There is something to be said for the animated epilogue too. I really liked it. Maybe if it took in more of the other NPCs? Since DA2 didn't really wander far from home, the DAO slideshow probably wouldn't have worked.
