Anyway, whether a bait thread or not, I support left-handed peeps!

Just because your left-handed doesn't necessarily mean that you would fire a weapon left-handed, my brother is a righty but shoots with his left.

That's because which hand you use to fire is more dependant on which eye is dominant.  You can't hit your target if you can't see it.

You can be right hand, but have left eye dominance.  Or left handed, but have right eye dominance.

It's not like having a "left-handed" toggle is an unprecedented thing in video games.

Ah. Yes. I forgot. Solidarity is a dirty word these days. Keep on being cool then.

It may not be, but most companies including Bioware seems to make a big deal about it.

10% is quite a bit of the population.

Hmm...You may be right. Although the chance that there are a significant amount of left-handed gamers could be slim.

As long as it doesn't interfere with my Shepard's right-handedness, I'm cool. The last thing I need is to have all my pistol-whips retconned to have been the other hand.

This idea has been brought up before and it got locked because countless ***holes posted ignorant comments. I would love the idea of a southpaw Shep....which is why I ONLY play with Sheva in Resident Evil 5.

I'm not talking about Gamers.  I'm talking about Game Characters.  Sorry if I wasn't clear.

If statistics are to be a representation of reality (I know it's a video game, but you get my point), 5 - 10% of video game Characters would be left handed.

We both know that this is not the case.  I would simply like to add more Customization to an already Customizable Character.

As a leftie, I would support an option for a left-handed Commander Shepard.

However, as far as priorities for this game go for me, it's way, way down there, falling slightly behind Purchasable automated fish food dispenser"

If you're talking about game characters then...Yeah, you ended your own argument. Since right handed people are the majority then they'll be the ones that are more represented in media. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to have Shepard's dominant hand be switchable though.

Hi.

I'm left Handed.

I'm tired of us left handed people being unrepresented in games.

I would like a "Left Handed Shepard" option.

Kthxbai

We are represented in Games.  In Assassin's Creed, the main hidden blade is attached to the Left Hand.

Captian America holds his shield with his left hand.

Within The Mass Effect Universe, I believe Kasumi is left handed as she punches with that hand.  The Omni Tool (primary) is located on the left hand.

We are represented but i'd like to be able to click both control sticks (so it won't happen accidently) and be able to switch how we hold the gun.  I figure the only game I hated as a Lefty was Skate.  You can tweak the board with the right stick but i'd be able to tweak it easier on the left stick.  They never programed an option for that in 2 and I never bought a game past 2. . .

...You're not listening.

My argument isn't whether or not Right Handed Characters should be portrayed more.  (they should be).

My argument is that left handed people are barely portrayed AT ALL .

But your argument doens't hold up, more gamers are hetero, so by your logic bioware shouldn't be wasting their time making s/s romance options. The OPs request to be represented in video games is just as valid as a LGBT gamer's request.

Do I want my Shep to be left handed, it doesn't really matter.. but what I would like for my Shep to do is use his weak hand to fire from behind cover when appropriate.

Wrong:

Altair : Crippled (Mutilated might be a better word) his left hand rather than his right.  Still does everything else with his right hand.  Not left handed.

Captain America: Shield is in left hand, because most melee attackers are right handed.  Therefore the shield is at a superior angle to block damage, Assuming they're right handed.  (Everyone has their shield in their left hand, please do not use this as an argument. )

I never said left-handed game characters shouldn't be represented in gaming, I only explained why I think they're not.

Good idea. But it should be optional. I don't think I would be very comfortable shooting with my left but it would be nice to have the option available.
