How so jreezy?

10% is quite a bit of the population.

Hmm...You may be right. Although the chance that there are a significant amount of left-handed gamers could be slim.

I'm not talking about Gamers.  I'm talking about Game Characters.  Sorry if I wasn't clear.

If statistics are to be a representation of reality (I know it's a video game, but you get my point), 5 - 10% of video game Characters would be left handed.

We both know that this is not the case.  I would simply like to add more Customization to an already Customizable Character.

If you're talking about game characters then...Yeah, you ended your own argument. Since right handed people are the majority then they'll be the ones that are more represented in media. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to have Shepard's dominant hand be switchable though.

But your argument doens't hold up, more gamers are hetero, so by your logic bioware shouldn't be wasting their time making s/s romance options.

?.....

Is it just me, or did you just contradict yourself?  Perhaps you should reclarify?

As long as it doesn't interfere with my Shepard's right-handedness, I'm cool. The last thing I need is to have all my pistol-whips retconned to have been the other hand.

No kidding, my immersion would totally be ruined!

Hi.

I'm left Handed.

I'm tired of us left handed people being unrepresented in games.

I would like a "Left Handed Shepard" option.

Kthxbai

We are represented in Games.  In Assassin's Creed, the main hidden blade is attached to the Left Hand.

Captian America holds his shield with his left hand.

Within The Mass Effect Universe, I believe Kasumi is left handed as she punches with that hand.  The Omni Tool (primary) is located on the left hand.

We are represented but i'd like to be able to click both control sticks (so it won't happen accidently) and be able to switch how we hold the gun.  I figure the only game I hated as a Lefty was Skate.  You can tweak the board with the right stick but i'd be able to tweak it easier on the left stick.  They never programed an option for that in 2 and I never bought a game past 2. . .

Wrong:

Altair : Crippled (Mutilated might be a better word) his left hand rather than his right.  Still does everything else with his right hand.  Not left handed.

Captain America: Shield is in left hand, because most melee attackers are right handed.  Therefore the shield is at a superior angle to block damage, Assuming they're right handed.  (Everyone has their shield in their left hand, please do not use this as an argument. )

Altair never "mutilated his hand" he simply cut off his ring finger.  It's a symbol of loyalty and lifelong commitment to the Fraternity.  When you use a melee attack he strikes with his left hand first.  All his weapons are left handed except throwing knifes, but if you don't have a dagger equiped he throws with his left hand.  When he jumps to a ledge, he grabs into it with his left hand.  The hidden Blade in Assassin's Creed I was the ONLY weapon you could use in Assassin's Creed I to assassinate targets. This was because many people are RIGHT handed warriors.  Wielding a weapon with your left hand was difficult to combat.  In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio uses the Hidden Gun and the Posion Blade.  Both are on the left hand.  In Brotherhood, Ezio signals his Assassins with his left hand.  Ezio didn't cut off his finger.  He burned the ring finger on the left hand.

Captian America is a valid option.  You said that left handers aren't represented in games.  Capt is in MUA 1 and 2 and in the New Captian America Movie Game.  He throws his shield with his left hand and his more "heavier attacks" are down with the shield in the left hand.

Um, yeah. That's pretty much the definition of mutilation.  His reasons for doing it are irrelevant.

But that doesn't prevent him from using his left hand and that was only for Altair.  Desmond, Lucy, Ezio, and pretty much every Assassin after 1191 never cut off their fingers.  Point is the hidden blade belongs to lefties.

Weren't you the one that said Altair never "mutilated" his finger? I said Ezio never cut off his finger, not Altair.

As a lefty I need to step in and say leftys are born with more god given talents than a righty could dream about. Look at baseball.

That being said, It would be a pain in the ass for devs. You cant just reverse animations. When I fire a rifle I have to either reach completely across the gun or take my finger off the trigger just to get to the bolt.

Also I know rightys are talented, I'm just being a smart ass.

Yes, I said Altair never mutilated his finger.  After looking at seperate definitions of Mutilation. . . realize i'm wrong:blush::o.  I also said that Ezio didn't cut off his finger as well.

Its not a contradiction I was taking the plight of the LGBT gamer wanting a character to be more like them and using it to say your argument for a left handed Shepard is just as valid as theirs. Just because the majority is one way doesn't mean that's the way it should be presented. Your desire for a left handed Shepard should be taken as seriously as a gay or lesbian gamer wanting a gay or lesbian Shepard.

Actually it shouldn't, not really. Show me some examples where left-handed people were discriminated against, demonized, killed on sight and/or denied the basic right to marriage and I'll be more inclined to take you seriously.

...Altair is right handed.  If he was left handed, he would have mutilated his weaker hand (his right) and fought with his sword as a leftie.

Being able to use his left hand in certain scenarios when he still prefers his right in most scenarios does not make him a leftie.

And as for Captain America - You ignored my argument, so I will ignore yours.

Ah, your one hole in your arugment is that I want Shepard to be left handed exclusively.

WHich I never said.

I merely want the option to have a left handed Shepard.  Others can pick what they want.

We're not talking about that, we're talking about representation in a video game. I am not comparing the plight of those people in real life to the plight of the left handed gamer.. I am comparing the plights of both gamers... key word.

And actually left handed people were ostrisized and thought to be possessed by the devil one time in history.. were do you think the term sinister came from.. its latin for sinistra.. meaning left handed. So I am pretty sure they didn't have a good time back in the middle ages either.
