im right handed but shoot left.
sometimes it doesnt matter, but other times it does, its more based on the gun, if you shoot left handed with a gun designed for right handed people you might be getting shells flying into your arms lol

old trick to figure out which you should shoot with is more based on your eyes. make a diamond with your index fingers and thumbs, put it over a distant object and slowly pull it back towards your face. you'll naturally pull it back to one of your eyes, thats the one you should shoot with.

I know, I've taken that into account.  My grandmother was one such person forced to use their right hand.  But you're right, I can't claim that 100% percent true.

handed people since they can take cover opposite a right handed person
on a wall or something and still be protected. 

Not true.  When I was in training, part of our training actually had us firing using our non-dominant side.

Yeah, "Part of". In case of emergency/your dominant being incapacitated. But when you have a natural lefty you don't to use a righty shotting with his/her weak side.

I really like that idea, when creating your character it would make it even more personal as it would aim/use items like you as well.

I can't believe you think the OP wasn't serious. Left handed people are epicwinsauce and under represented in the video game world. Even poor Link got turned into a righty in the Wii version of Twilight Princess. <_<

It's the same under appreatiation color-blind people get. Any real suggestion is "trolling" to those it doesn't benefite.
