It is nice you can get attached to something that isn't a human analogue.jreezy wrote...
Maybe. I enjoy her spherical shape though.Humanoid_Typhoon wrote...
I'm sure if not for Cortana they would have done it,then again it was probably done to save on animation, its choppy enough already.jreezy wrote...
Mass Effect doesn't need a Cortana.

I figured something like um....if ever seen that old show "Andromeda" you would probably know what I mean.
I don't know this Cortana.

But we already have Halo in your Mass Effect... see Avenia or just about any other VI interface in the game. So why should EDI be different?

Consistency. Avina was always a holographic humanoid. EDI is a blue sphere in ME2, "she" should stay a blue sphere in ME3. There's no reason to put her in a robot or a holographic humanoid interface besides creepy fanservice.

Agreed.. but that really wasn't your original argument. I am actually surprised they didn't use a body scan of Tricia Helfer to represent EDI from the get go. But then I guess they wanted to make EDI different.. maybe they didn't want the player to think Six when EDI showed up on screen.
Hey I didn't know Helfer did the voice for Kerrigan in SC.

Anyway I thought her utilitarian design reflected the fact she was made by the Illusive man.

True, it being similar to Halo wasn't my primary concern, but it would be the comparison people would draw (obviously), so that's why I made the reference. EDI being stuck in a hologram (especially if it's blue) would just smack of Cortana ripoff, and that would suck
But yeah, Tricia Helfer voiced Kerrigan in SC2, but not SC1... a fact that drew much ire from forumgoers over in Blizzard land, lol. Most hate Tricia and wanted the original lady back (I don't remember her name).

It's one of the things I enjoy about the Geth and other AI's, the disconnection between humanity and machine. So different, but yet so similar.

I don't see a purpose in this. EDI don't need a body. Her body is Normandy.
Maybe they should change the design of the Normandy.

The drive core is her heart...
Her heavy metal plates are her skin...
so i prefer her that she is the normandy now, plus i have pre ordered my collectors edition of ME3 so my little robotic dog will keep me satisfied....

Why did I know there would automatically be Halo hate on this thread? It's hard being a Halo fan on the interweb these days. Everyone hates you for no good reason.
Anyway OT:
No, I prefer EDI as she is. Gaming already has one Cortana and she does very nicely. Plus she's pretty much the only female character in the entire series who isn't sexualized in some way or another and I'd kind of like her to stay that way.
Besides plain spherical blue shapes seem to be as good a look as any for an AI.
