Just finished a full convo with her again this play through and I have to say I found myself completely charmed. having 2 soldier as parents a krogan and an asari was a nice touch ( gotta love the shadow broker video where she headbutts a krogan unconscious) shes one of those rare stand out asari like aria i think

There's even more to Aethyta than meets the eye. Have you played through LotSB? She's definitely an interesting character.

Alright cool, I didn't wanna spoil anything without checking, lol...

Turns out Aethyta is (very probably) Liara's "father". It'll be interesting to see if the two ever meet in ME3.

Aethyta is surprisingly well fleshed out and likable for such an insignificant character. I wish I could hire her as the bartender on the Normandy. :D

Well if she is truly Liara's father, that may very well be a possibility.

I'm actually rather found of that option - Liara needs at last one cool parent :D
I remember that she sad both her parents are Asari, but I can't recall what else she sad about her "father"... Anyone who played ME1 recently? Refresh my memory please?

If I recall correctly, she said she didn't know who her father was, just that it was another Asari.

"Benezia rarely spoke of her partner. Though I do know my father, if you want to call it that, was another asari. [...] Whatever it was, it caused her too much pain to speak of it."

I'm quite curious to find out why Aethyta (assuming she is Liara's dad) wasn't around when Liara was growing up. I'm guessing she had a major falling out with Benezia but I wonder what it was about.

She was publicly disgraced for her ideas that they start making mass relays themselves. She mentions all this if you ask her why she's a Matriarch and only serving as a bartender instead of an advisor.

Aethyta essentially humiliated herself on Thessia when she proposed they build Mass Relays themselves. I'm guessing Aethyta's beliefs weren't that popular even before and so the political fallout from the "crazy notion to build mass relays" broke the her and Benezia apart since Benezia probably had to distance herself from the crazy Aethyta as a political move.

Until Lotsb, evidence (if you want to call it that) was largely circumstancial. Liara claims to not know her father other than that she's another Asari and that Benezia never spoke of her partner, supposedly because they broke up on less than friendly terms.

Aethyta says she has a pureblood daughter but it didn't work out. When Aethyta speaks about Benezia she says "Screw up with Saren". Indicating that they knew eachother rather well for Aethyta to have such an outspoken opinion of her.

Then of course came the Lotsb vid where Aethyta quitely watches a moving picture of Liara...Coincidence?

It isn't like Benezia and Aethyta just broke up though, Benezia wouldn't even tell Liara who her father was, isn't that overkill?

I never understood what was wrong with making Mass Relays for themselves. Athyta had the right idea. The Asari's are a stupid race.

They are the first to find the mass relays and citadel. And instead of exploiting their find and depriving and overlording other races.
Like humans would if the found the citidel first. The decide to share it to other races.

When some one objects to a lifestyle that involves less stripping and killing.
And more research, advancement, learning and developement. She is laughed at.

WHAT THE F*CK Athyta deserved better than that.

Thanks :) No wonder I could not recall much - not much to recall to begin with... But it does open up possibilities :) I remember being curious about Liaras second parent, I hope well get to the bottom of her and Athytas story in ME3 :)

Not to mention how she argued over getting their Daughters working earlier coincides with the fact that Liara was only 50 when she began working around Prothean dig sites while any other Asari her age would either still be living with their parents or travelling around the galaxy as a Mercenary or Stripper and how Athyeta's old lover used to ''put the old commando leathers on for special nights'' (Sorry about the Marks, I just feel like I was reading bad fan-fiction when I looked over that bit) and Last I checked Benezia was, and some point in her life, an Asari Commando.

If it was planned in any way, then choosing to work at the bar closest to your daughter's workplace is actually not that bad of an idea in terms of checking up on her.

You're misremembering Athyeta's conversation. She is talking about her parents, her mother was an Asari Commando and her father was a Krogan. Then she says that her mother used to put on the commando leathers for special nights with her dad, and "goddess was that embarassing."

Can't believe she was made Liara's "dad" just because someone had a stupid idea.

Who's all for having Aethyta for a teammate? She's the only one other than Shepard who headbutted a krogan and deflated a volus!

I don't know if she should be a teammate but she should become a prominent figure in fighting the reapers. She was the only one who had the right ideas or really good approach to what the Asari should have been doing.
