All qunari mages do Lightning Damage
All emmisarries do Fire damage
All spiders do Nature Damage
All Desire Deamons do Spirit damage
All Rage Demons do Fire Damage
All Abominations do Spirit Damage
Pride deamons use fire and physical damage
All Dragons use Fire Damage
All Arcane Horrors, including Frost, use Spirit Damage
All Rock Wraiths do Lightning Damage
All Varterral do Spirit Damage
pretty sure that is it.
the only absolutely necessary wards you should worry about are fire, lightning, and spirit. Even then only fire is truly necessary for the High Dragon. Lightning can be avoided/neutralized about 90% of the time, 10% might cause a reload. Spirit is, if you have trouble with interrupting mages or if you are going to be using Walking Bomb.
I am fairly certain there is not one enemy that uses cold damage in the game.

I ask because I am on my 6th nightmare play through as a 2h dps/tank warrior and so i obviously know what kind of enemies I'm about to be up against and was trying to stay current with my resistance to the elements.
A few enemies were throwing me off however, Specifically the blood mages and their life tap/drain life abilities. Being attacked by the High Dragon's Fire Spit with 90% fire resist does far less damage then the blood mages attacking my 90% Spirit Resistant Hawke with either of the 2 above mentioned attacks. Was thinkin maybe 1 of those abbilities had some ort ignore armor enemy

Is the commander's grenade cold damage? I know if it hits it slows your movement.
I think that one is more akin to the Tar Bomb.

I could not think of an enemy either that did cold damage either (unless u consider when u accidentally Step in the path of Anders Cone of Cold attack).

Spirit damage cuts magic resistance and damage resistance by 50%
This does not affect spirit resistance, which is applied before anything else to the damage being delt.

All mages do Spirit Damage through spells and Fire through their auto-attack (DLC is an exception)

Nice write up SB! Have you been able to figure out what element the Rage Demon's backstab is? It must be physical right?
Also, strange that the Frost Horror would do spirit damage lol.

From all indications Rage Daemon's backstab is either a fire damage attack that ignores resistances or pure physical. I am leaning toward physical damage at this point as I believe it is the exact same ability Assassin's have.
Double checking to make sure I didn't miss an enemy type that does elemental.
Xebenkeck doesn't do anything outside of normal Desire Deamon attacks which are buffed up, correct?
Should I start a new thread in hopes of a sticky?
