Oh, how I've wanted to say a lot.

Kaiden: You're seriously one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. You're so humble about your abilities and you have a deep understanding for the greater good. Just do me a favor and don't let Ashley's.. Alliance Fever get to you. Think for yourself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ashley: You're an exceptional fighter, no doubt. However, your diplomatic and political ties are a tad bit highstrung. Free your mind and don't let the Alliance use you. You're young and you've still got time, so don't mature to fast on me. Also, back on Horizon.. yeah. Don't ever jump to conclusions when dealing with the man who just saved the galaxy. I know where my mind is at. Oh, and congrats on the Spectre status.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wrex: Without a doubt, you're the strong Krogan I've ever met, if not the strongest warrior I've met. Sorry about the detontation of the genophage cure back on Virmire, but you of all people should understand what my duties were and what Saren's purposes were. Love you, Wrex, no doubt, and go beat up on Grunt a little. He's still a baby.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Garrus: Archangel? What the 'eff happened to you over the past two years..? Look, you're like my protege.. so I can't have you behaving the way you do. Although you've become more of a badass, you could have found something better to do with your time.. such as going through your calibrations. You had TWO years two work on those, but now you choose to work on them when we have an actual mission on our hands. Love ya', G.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Liara: You're an all-around badass. Thanks for doing the right thing while I was dead. Now look.. I've taken a liking to Miranda and it seems you love this Feron guy. So.. make some Feron babies, yeah? Image IPB

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miranda: Like Jack said.. yes, you were an official Cerberus ****. Recognized and all. However, you've become.. more sympathetic through this journey and the suicide mission changed you for the better. Thanks for saying 'eff you to the Illusive Man and I meant it when I said that I love you. No matter what, we will survive this Reaper onslaught. Just watch. And never forget.. just because you great because you were created that way, doesn't mean that the greatness of your actions came from your genes. They're great because of your choice to make those actions. Stay gold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jacob: There's just something about you that annoys me, man. It really seems as if you're trying to be someone you aren't. You act a certain way, but I really don't know where your ties are. Are they with the Alliance or Cerberus.. or me? You don't respect Thane, yet you work with Cerberus? Sir, you're a confused man.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mordin: Back on Earth.. we had Einstein and Newton. In space, they have you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Grunt: If I hadn't met Wrex, you'd be the most badass Krogan. But you're out of luck.. because I did meet Wrex. And you're still a baby, bro. You shouldn't be staying up past 10PM on Saturday nights.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack: You're childhood was horrible. I understand that. However.. I died, and you can't understand that. Not everybody dies and comes back to life. Matter of fact, I might be the only being in the entire universe that has died and come back to life. We both have reason to be angry.. it's just that my reason is a bit deeper than yours to be exact. Oh, and remind me to take you to Earth one of these days. We have these things called malls and they sell.. clothes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thane: I'd have to say that you're the realest member of my ship. You're so calm and you've got your head in the the right place, while on your way to death. You saved your son, yet you barely knew him. You're traditional and a genius at what you do. And to top it all off.. you actually had me on the brink of tears when you said that I was the only friend you've ever really had. Someone like you deserves a friend, and I'm lucky it's me. You're my best friend, Thane. Let's keep it that way.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Samara: You're so used to fighting injustice, right? Well.. why don't you head into dark space and fight Harbinger and its bunch? Yeah.. I didn't think so. Oh, and I dare you to follow the Code and fight me next year. You tried fighting Nihlus and that failed. So I highly doubt you'll defeat a professional Reaper Slayer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tali: I respect you, but you need to realize the depth of you and your peoples' actions. You did the Geth wrong.. out of fear. You can't play God when you aren't a god.. things just don't work out that way, hun. Oh, and if you ever point a gun at Legion again, I'll send you a one -way ticket off my ship.. and then you won't have anywhere to go, because you're already exiled from the Fleet. Behave.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zaeed: You're a crazy bastard, but a ruthless won. You're all about getting the job done, I like that. Just have some sympathy. It doesn't hurt. You aren't Sasuke.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kasumi: Ugh.. what do you see in Taylor? Oh, I get it.. with your room being RIGHT NEXT to the lounge, you've consumed enough alcoholic beverages, therefore seeing something that isn't there in Taylor. Haha, gotcha'.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Legion: With what you just told me, you can really swing the universe in your favor, especially since I'm on your side. You deserve better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Joker: YOU'RE THE MOST BADASS PILOT EVER ! The way you zipped and dodged through the Omega-4.. that was mindblowing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EDI: If you were a live being, I'd marry you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Illusive Man: 'Eff you and your methods. Money isn't everything, scum. Do something about those eyes.. and quit smoking. You've already got it bad enough.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harbinger: I'm waiting.
Shepard: "Garrus, knock it off with all the damn calibrations; the Normandy's guns cannot possibly be optimized any further. Tali, I cherish our friendship, but I've recently discovered files that put you in the "creepy stalker" zone. Legion, why the hell do you have a piece of my original armor attached to your body? Liara, I appreciate the lengths you went to recover my body, but I have noticed that you have some sort of...obsession with me, which is odd, as I only briefly talked to you once pre-death. Not only that, but you have a piece of my chestplate, have pictures that respond only to my genetic code and you risked your life on the assumption that my "corpse" may be successfully revived by a terrorist organisation that tried to kill us...three times. Now that I think about about it, the amount of stalkers on this ship is unsettling".
Shepard (cont.): "Miranda, I get that you are beautiful, but do you really have to prance around the battlefield in a catsuit? Speaking of catsuits, I have no idea what you are even wearing Jacob. In fact, I'm quite positive that I am lucky you are even wearing a shirt at this point. Zaeed, your rambling again. Yes, you've told me about the time you killed a krogan and took his helmet as a trophy; you tell me the story every time I bump into you. Samara you are a horrible tease - you reject me, yet continue to stride around the ship with your cleavage exposed just to spite me".
Shepard (cont.): "Mordin, I appreciate you keeping me updated, but I do not need to know that crew member A has diseases X,Y, and Z; especially whatever Kelly has. Grunt, please stop purchasing all these...tacky items from the extranet; we are stationed on a military vessel and your "action figures" are starting to embarrass me. Kasumi, you are not allowed to cloak on my ship. I have nothing against you personally, but I can't help being paranoid considering the amount of "stalking" that goes on in this ship. No Thane, we can't turn the temperature down any higher or the Normandy will become a sauna. And Jack - just get the **** off my ship".
Shepard: "Crew dismissed".
Kaidan & Carth sharing the same voice actor (nevermind different performance and pitch) = ZOMG it's the same character!!! No, Kaidan and Carth share more similarities...  both are whiny and b***hy and never STFU about right/wrong crap.
Article comparing Mass Effect and KOTOR:
"Some will certainly recognize the dulcet tones of Raphael Sbarge voicing the indomitable Kaidan Alenko. Sbarge once again demonstrates his mastery of script and role changes, bringing the same voice that I loved hearing in KOTOR and slamming it down amidst a brand new body and personality. However, the voice is the only thing that the character's have in common. Where Carth was snarky, and downright confrontational at times, Lieutenant Alenko is a far more by the book soldier, unchallenging of Commander Shepard. Where Carth's motivations ranged from revenge to 'Doing what's right', Kaidan has a thought provoking backstory that makes him a very real person amidst the fantastic squad of aliens. He and Carth share a tendency to moralise, but the logic and general outlook on life is very different. Kaidan is an individual character, and while he is clearly fangirl bait, the baiting is done very subtly. Only a fool would mistake Carth for Kaidan and vice versa."
to my ME1 Shepard: "Hi Shepard, I'm your conscience..
You've travelled very far from home...
Do you remember how your long and winding journey began with someone pounding on your door?
It was Smelly, the brattiest kid in your entire colony, who knocked on your door that fateful night.
On your way you have soldiered on. Through all this, you never lost your will to keep going. You have grown steadily stronger, though you have experienced the pain of a profound loss time and time again like on Akuze.
You are no longer alone in your adventure, Ashley, who is loyal, steadfast and even pretty, is always at your side. Wrex is with you as well. Though brutal in his dealings, he came from a distant land to help you.
Shepard, as you certainly know by now, you are not another faceless Alliance commando...
....You have an awesome destiny to fulfill.
The journey from will be long and will be more painful than anything you've ever undergone at this point. Yet I know you will be alright.
When the inner turmoil of good and evil rages on inside of us all, who do believe will prevail? Do you have faith that good in people will triumph?
One thing that we must never lose is courage. If you believe in what you strive for, you will be courageous.
There are many difficult times ahead, but you must keep your sense of humor, work through the tough times and enjoy yourself.
I wish you luck..."
I wish my conscience gave me a good pep talk every once in a while...
To Lumen11's ME2 Shepard:
"Like a great tapestry, vertical and horizontal threads have met and become intertwined creating a far-reaching and bleak future.
You may have cursed this never-ending journey. You have known loss and heart-ache, but you have sojourned on to reach this place.
Believe in your friends, as they believe in you, Shepard. Have you considered how much you've achieved?
Your decisions both past and present have shaped the things to come.  As you certainly know, you cannot turn back.
The Reapers are out there, and they are growing frightened of your power. They are desperately searching for ways to end you.
From here, the challenges grows and a great biotic wind will drive you to frightening precipices. You are drawing nearer to the Reapers, and they are coming for you.
But remember, when you are suffering these hardships, your enemies are also struggling.
Your destiny tugs at you even harder, will you choose the right path?
Believe in yourself, and press forward."
Now how can anyone be cynical after a response like this. Ever. Again.:)
I always really liked Kaiden Onasi. Oh sh*t....
Just kidding though. It's interesting that they choose the same voice actor for 2 characters in 2 different games with very similar roles and yet they managed to make them feel very different.
Obvious one is showing several people some of the post mission emails, like giving Garrus the messages from a squadmate's widow and Dr Michel, or showing Tali the impressively worded fatherly threat that Rael sends.
To Ashley (Horizon)
"So that's it? That's all you've got to say? You were there when the Normandy burned, when the pods were retrieved, you were at the funeral. You know I died. You helped us mutiny and steal the Normandy when they tried to start burying everything we'd done, so we could stop Saren, because it was what needed to be done. You've been there to see them sweep everything they did under the rug, seal it eyes only and forget about it. You know that something's going on, that the Citadel wants to pretend its just another human problem, and the Alliance is too busy playing politics to care. And now I ride in here, save these people, and you, with Garrus by my side, and I don't even get a chance to explain WHY I'm here? Instead I just get this traitor BS? I thought we knew each other better than that. I thought there was enough trust there that I could at least get that. Guess I was wrong. Have a nice life Ash." <leaves>
To Garrus
"I'm human. I can't pretend to fully understand how Turians process guilt; I have some idea about your notions of responsibility, but I'm coming at this ultimately as a human. And I want you to at least try to understand this fact. You made a difference. You put that team together, and in the biggest cesspit in the galaxy this side of Detroit, you made a difference. You hurt the three biggest coalitions of bastards in that place so bad that they actually had to work together to even attempt to bring you down, and you still managed to spit in their faces and hurt them. Don't ever forget about that, or the lives you saved, or the nameless that you found some measure of justice for. And if you ever feel the need to talk, come find me and I'll introduce you to more human booze."
To Miranda (after loyalty crisis with Jack)
"Get. The. Hell. Off. My. Ship. It was bad enough on Freedom's Progress when you tried to tell me to haul off Veetor, or justify what your precious coalition of terrorists and madmen did when they attacked the Quarians, but now, attempting to justify what happened at Teltin? I don't need morally bankrupt, two faced, apologists for Cerberus on this mission. Zaeed at least doesn't pretend to be anything other than what he is. Now get the hell off my ship before I use the airlocks to throw you off!"
To Tali (in the hours before the suicide mission)
"I guess it worked out well that the admiralty changed your ship name. You're a part of this crew, a part of this ship, a part of my life. There's so much I need to thank you for, for coming on this latest bit of madness, in spite of who built this ship and plastered their logo everywhere they could; for trusting me enough to step away from the fleet; for being here with Garrus, Joker and Helen to keep me sane. And for trusting me enough to share yourself with me like this. You are Tali'Zorah vas Normandy nar Ryya, This is your ship, your home, and I love you."
I agree on Garrus and Ash/Kaidan. Not on Tali,and definitely not on Miranda.
Jokes aside,what I really want is a chance to say "I love you" to my Shepard's LI. Those exact words,and in the way that he/she really means it,in the right moment.
I agree that this guy is pretty harsh on Miranda....Guess we all have our fan favorites though. He just fell for the mystery that is Tali. an "i love you moment" would be nice, specifically before some heroic last stand or before a big sacrifice. Id like to have a Bruce Willis: Armageddon moment.
I'll just come out and say it: I don't understand what there is to like about Miranda other than looks. I've tried, but I always get stuck on the part where she supports an organisation like Cerberus, who by all rights, I should be doing everything in my power to eradicate.
Will have more things later.
I find her fascinating for more reasons than one.
She's strong, self confident and extremely ruthless...at least on the surface. Underneath, she doubts herself (thus feeling the constant need to prove herself).
She's also an example of what happens when a person cuts themself off from interpersonal relationships. She's alone and thinks that she likes it that way. Convincing her otherwise is a very charming subplot to the game, regardless of whether you romance her.
But how would you know? You've clear been spending too much time down in engineering with the charming (but otherwise quite bland) Tali'Zorah.
 Wrex: You are the most badass being in the universe. From the start, I knew we would be the best team there is. It was awesome seeing you again as leader of clan Urdnot. Of all the krogans in the universe, I think you are the only one that can save them. I wish I could have helped on Virmire, but the mission came first that day. If I'm going to hell and back I want you by my side.
Kaidan: Admittedly, I hated you in the beginning. Everything about you annoyed me. I'm glad I gave you the chance though. You're actually a pretty good guy. I feel like I can really trust you. You're a good fighter and a good man.
Ashley: You came across as young, and even a little bit naive. But you had fire in your eyes and you turned out to be a damn good soldier. I understand your xenophobia, I may not agree with it but I understand. You're so real, I'm lucky to have you on my squad. You may have doubted me on Horizon, but I know you will come around. Maybe we'll never get our Alliance relationship back, but I want you as a friend.
Liara: I've never seen someone do such a 180. You used to be this young, innocent, beautiful girl. Now, well I'm not so sure who you are. That isn't a bad thing. You loyalty to me is an honor. I would'nt be alive without you. I trust you to always be there, just don't let this SHadow Broker thing consume you.
Garrus: Where would I be without my sarcastic turian bro. You've also changed over the years. But it doesn't suprise me. You always held onto this anger, this badassery. Archangel brought that out in you. Together we can kick some major Reaper ass.
Tali: Ah, little Tali. You really enchanted me at first. The brain, the pesonality, and I figure you're cute. Albeit a bit naive. I can't help but smile when you get excited over engines. I've watched you mature, and you've always been a great friend, and trusted ally. This thing with the Geth, try looking at it from an outside perspective. It's going to be difficult. I'm sorry you don't have a house on the homeworld, but you can't blame the geth for doing what they were created for. Somehow we will make this right, so think about making peace with the geth.
Miranda: We didn't exactly get along in the beginning. You were Cerberus, and I still held onto my Alliance training. But you brought me back to life. You saved me. I know you're father engineered you, and you'll never feel like enough. But you're amazing. You're beautiful, smart, and a good shot. I wish you'd give yourself a chance.
Jacob: I still don't know who you are. But it doesn't matter. We're friends, let's leave it at that. We took it to the Collectors and succeded. I think we can part ways now and if I see you in the future let's go have a beer.
Mordin: If I were to try salarians, I'd try you too buddy. Keep up the genius work, but it wouldn't hurt to have some second thoughts about the genophage. If anyone can make this right it's you.
Thane: I will always be your siha. If you ever need a friend, someone to talk to, someone to fight with, I'll be there.
Samara: I know your life is defined by the Code. But would it hurt to be happy for once.
Jack: You were not pathetic, you were a kid. I love you. You're beautiful, strong, and I wish I could help you release the past. You can be a hardass with me if you want, but I sure as hell don't want to hurt you.
Grunt: I, as your battlemaster, think you are awesome.
Legion: You may be geth, but I trust you. I feel like you respect me, and I respect you. It's pretty cool that you repaire yourself with my N7 armor.
Kasumi: Good luck with Jacob. I will gladly come an drink in your room while listening to your gossip.
Joker: I do not blame you for my death. I've loved you since the beginning, and I hope you feel the same way.
She is strong, confident, passionate, selfless, mature, pragmatic, completely devoted to the cause she believes in and the people she loves. Her backstory is extremely interesting and some peole really enjoy the "Defrosting the Ice Queen" romance she has going on.
But you could just take a look at the OP of the Miranda fan thread. It's much better explained there.
I've tried, but I always get stuck on the part where she supports an organisation like Cerberus, who by all rights, I should be doing everything in my power to eradicate.
True but there is "supporting" and there is "supporting".
Miranda believes in the preservation and advancement of humanity. There's absolutely nothing wrong with these goals. And so, she follows Cerberus who sheltered when she needed the most.
She is ruthless, yes, but only in the sense that she will always put the mission before the people. However, she still has a coscience. She was against enslaving the Rachni, she calls what happened at Pragia a mistake (and Cerberus was only indirectly responsible for what happened there anyway hence what she said to Jack), is against keeping the Collector Base. Also, she does not hates Aliens at all, despite being on Cerberus.
You hate Cerberus so, you should be happy to know that it is possible for Miranda to disobey an order from The Illusive Man and resign from the organization if you take her with you to the final battle and choose to destroy the Base.
Miranda is a "Paul Grayson" and not a "Kai Leng". She believes in what Cerberus wants to accomplish but, in the end, she will do what is rigth.
She uspports Cerberus because they protected her form her father when she couldn't do it herslef. wouldn't you believe in thepeople who protected you and do your best to advance their goals? She's incredibly intelligent, great in combat, and knows how to lead soldiers successfully. She's arguably the most successful personin Cerberus. That's what people like about her beyond her looks.
Cerberus brought me back to life and gave me a ship, but I'm still not a big enough idiot to believe their organization is anything but evil. The way Miranda constantly defends Cerberus (she either thinks their actions were justified or gives excuses, like with Pragia) makes me dislike her. If she wasn't, as Jack put it, a Cerberus ****, I would have a different opinion of her. I do like, however, when she agrees with me to blow the Collector's Base to hell. Perhaps there is hope for her yet.
^Anytime a character begins to talk about how crappy their life is...^
Camera zooms to a pair of sunglasses in Shepard's hands then jumps back to the conversation.  Renegade interupt begins flashing...
*Renegade Interupt*
Shepad puts the glasses on, crosses his arms and says. "I just have one thing to say.  Deal with it."
On the flip side a paragon interrupt to console the character would be nice for those of us that play that sort.
Miranda: Honey, you're 35 years old. Deal with your daddy issues already and open your eyes.
Joker: If we ever have to abandon the Normandy, get in the damn pod!
Miranda: You quit woman, quit sending TIM reports!
Kaidan: Quit trying to hump my leg just because I talk to you. Down boy!
Jacob: I am so very sorry for sounding like a perv when I try to talk to you. I think they programed some stalker program that activates at your voice or something.
Oh, and if I don't get to punch the Turian ambassador or at least make him eat his words, Bioware will have failed me.
 Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Samara, Thane, front and center!"
You are all confined to the ship until you have proper armor fitted and fabricated for you.  That includes, proper fastenings and medigel dispenses in place.  I'm looking at you, Samara.  This is a dangerous mission we're on people.  Looking cool can get oyu killed.  I know you wanna look unique and express your personalities, but armor can be personal too."
"Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed, front and center!"
You're armor is adequate, but incomplete.  I want you to replace missing pieces and repair damaged components.  I know krogans are tough, Grunt, but you're getting sleeves, so stop whining. You too, Zaeed."
"Next up:  I've ordered a shipment of helmets, they should be arriving by next week.  If you don't have one now, you will be issued one.  You're all very pretty, but if it's all the same to you, I'd like you to stay pretty, so wear these when we're in toxic enviroments, okay?"
