I seem to be at an impasse.

When I begin the DLC, I start off in an empty room.  I've searched and investigated every nook and cranny there that could possibly be had, but I can't find any door, passage way or secret entrance  or any way to leave it.  I've basically exhausted all of my chances, and have decided to just ask about this strange little corner in the deep roads.

Has anyone else found this starting room to be... odd?  A way out would be great.

Thanks.

The passages are sometimes hard to see on tactical, but there is one way that isn't blocked by the weird color force fields. I am assuming you are refering to when you first enter the actual ruins of Amgarak, and not the deep roads before it?

I think that it's set for "Nightmare". I haven't came across any force fields yet, only a big square room with a few torches and walls. None of them are invisible since I've tried to walk through each one.

You should start off in a Deep Roads passage talking to a dwarf who gives you a little bit of backstory on where you are going and why. After that, you will enter a "room" of sorts in the Deep Roads that is filled with mist (after running down a few passages). You must find the hidden stash and note in the first open section of the room before the mist will allow you into the next part of the room where you find more information and so on until you are finally allowed out of that area.

If you are not starting off there, then you are clearly experiencing a bug and should probably check in the tech forum for your version.

Maybe it is a "starting" bug. I can't see how it could be anything else. Almost looks like a "blue" room. Sometimes designers use blue rooms to store stuff that they end up utilizing during their games, however wish to place it out of sight for the player. A lone barrel that cannot be interacted with, with a few torches and some walls; statues and minor decorations. This seems to be the case. Now I just have to figure out how to fix it and what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks, but no, that's not the room I'm speaking of.

I've come to realize that this is some sort of bug at the very beginning of the game. Other people were having problems (after searching) however I haven't found a solution for it.

Here's basically what it is, you setup your character (stats, talents, feats, etc...) and then it loads right into an empty room with no way out. There is a barrel sitting directly behind you that you cannot interact with. It's a small, four cornered room. What's supposed to happen is it loads to a "movie" where a dwarf talks about his company that ventured into the deep roads, so he calls on a Grey Warden to help. This is all known of course.

But, the game sends me right into a small, blocked room. The level is not loading properly. I do have it activated, and I've tried reinstalling it. I have a feeling unless someone has had the exact the same error, and was able to traverse through it, I'm not going to be able to play this mod for awhile.

Looking up your information, I see you are playing the PC version of the game.
Have you installed the latest patch after Awakening has installed?
Have you disabled all your mods you might have running that may be conflicting it?
Have you tried creating a fresh character in golems and seeing if it loads properly.

I tried disabling mods via trial and error and I eventually found the culprit. It was a mod called "class and Specializations" that was mocking it up. Thank you very much for your help. I'm glad that I was able to finally resolve this issue and I wouldn't have been able too without your help.
