What exactly makes her "combat barbie" besides the fact that she has blonde hair?

Anything? No? Didn't think so.

What exactly is cliche about blonde chicks anyway? Name a blonde female video game main character.

Here are some big-time female characters and their hair color...

Lara Croft, Tomb Raider, brunette.
Sarah Kerrigan, StarCraft, redhead.
Alyx Vance, Half-Life 2, raven-haired.
Chell, Portal, raven-haired.
Bayonetta, raven(demon)-haired.
Chun-Li, Street Fighter, raven-haired.
Morrigan, Dragon Age, raven-haired.
Leiliana, Dragon Age, redhead.
Miranda Lawson, Mass Effect, raven-haired.
Ashley Williams, Mass Effect, raven-haired.

That's a lot of black haired chicks, actually. Maybe FemShep #4 is actually cliche'd.

I would have voted for #4 in a heart-beat, if her hair wasn't in her face. But seriously, #5 is cliche'd because she has blonde hair? Get back to me when she starts talking about shoes and pops her bubblegum. Until then, grow up.

Samus is Blonde, but I have trouble thinking of other major female characters.

Bitter much?

The fact that she has fair hair does not makes her a Barbie. Only people with a head full of clichees and stereotypes think that way.

I've studied statistics enough to know that the blonde Shepard winning doesn't necessarily mean that those who voted for her wanted her to be blonde. Particularly since there was only one blonde option, and a redhead who almost didn't look like a redhead at all. The choice they gave us seems... limited. It could have certainly been better.

If some those who voted for FemShep #5 didn't pick her because she's blonde, they wanted her to win for another reason. Same difference.

Hair style. If all the sheps had the same hair style as 5, but different hair colors, I bet number 5 would be on the bottom of the list.

An assumption, nothing more.

If you say so.. But consider the variables.

- Faces
- Eye color
- Skin color
- Hair color
- Hair style

The faces of 1, 2 and 5 are exactly the same, so nothing pushing number 5 there

Eye colors are barely noticable in those pictures (and are highgly dependent on skin and hair style to fit)

Skin color for 1, 2, 3 and 5 are exactly the same, again, nothing pushing number 5 there

Hair colors are all dark, except 2 and 5, where 2 is red, and 5 is blonde. I remember Casey Hudson saying somewhere in a recent presentation on BioWare Pulse that red hair has been the most popular hair color for femshep, so no blonde advantage there.

Then there's the hair style. This is the only thing that sets 5 apart. I guess people don't like the short hair styles, number 6 looks too cute, and number 4 is too emo, thus, they choose 5. What other conclusion can you draw, that the hair style is the sole reason that number 5 won? I'm pretty sure that people will vote for a different hair color if they get the chance, and that red will probably be on top.

I think thats part of the problem. The blonde haired, blue eyed Aryan poster child reminds people too much of what was once considered (and in certain circles, still considered) to be "racially pure".

I know I mentioned it earlier but I just had to point these dummies out.  These individuals seem to be implying that if you're okay with Blonde shep you're okay with Hitler too.  Godwin's law in practice.

Yes Bogsnot.  Blonde shep got the most votes because she's "racially pure"

Just reading these forums can give you an idea of just how weird the human mind is when it can't accept the opinions of the majority.

Why was ME2 so well-reviewed? EA/Bioware bought them out!

Why was blonde FemShep picked? It's because EVERYONE (except me) is stupid and wants a Barbie Shepard.

It never crossed their minds that it could be a personal choice and suits our imagination of FemShep and it's not some flaw in our intelligence or nature.

They have all a similar face structure. They have different nose shape, hair, skin color, makeup, eyebrows, jawline, lips, face shape (#3 is more elongated for example) and eye color on the closeups. Even if they do have similar features, that still makes them different and their face is still different. From the pictures of FB they all look the same but they're not. Just go BW TV and see the video for yourself. They (Silverman) show the closeups. It's the one they announce the fan art winners.

Still you're guessing and making assumptions. You can't know for sure. Maybe a lot of the people voted because they actually liked the face and the expression more. Like me.

I'm kind of apathetic about the whole thing, just because none of the femsheps they offerred up really made an impression on me, tbh. They all just look too young - younger than maleshep - which doesn't really work in my mind.

Rosa in FF4. Celes in FF6. Ashe in FF12 has dirty blonde hair. A few from various fighting games: Sonya Blade, Nina Williams, Cammy. Alexandra in Eternal Darkness (voiced by Jennifer Hale, in fact).  The Boss and Eva in MGS3.  All I got at the moment, and most aren't main characters (or even playable characters).

Default redhead shep wasn't a choice, so I didn't vote.

I don't see anything wrong in particular about the blond one. Aside from looking like a teenager.

A courageous and unique option--which we didn't see presented--would've been a Middle Eastern-looking Shepard.
Controversial, maybe, but it would have been a positive vision of the future after the wars between the nations of Earth ended and women all over the world were liberated, which showcases what makes the ME series different from others. It's too bad they didn't go that route.

That would have been awesome! I actually did try to make my Shephard with a ME look, not the least because I have Arab ancestry myself.

Do any of these blondes act like stupid ditzys?

If not, why are we complaining about this so-called stereotypical blond girl?

If so, what's wrong with Bioware breaking the commonly-assumed sterotype of blonde girls with a strong-willed female protagonist?

Why do we keep acting like FemShep's voice and nature will change if she's blonde? So who's stereotyping now?

I voted for blonde shep just because I liked her hair style best, The hair color mattered little to me. It could be black or red and I wouldn't care. I'm just wondering why started the poll in the first place. I thought default shep looked fine. But whatever I play as male anyway so it makes little difference

Sonya in Ninja Gaiden 2, but that is just, ehh... "oversexualized" we could say. The doctor chick form Vanquish, Jill valentine is dyed blonde in RE5 (which was stupid IMO, she looks better with brown hair), and we could say Lighting from XXIII (I got the number right?Sorry not a very FF fan myself) is blonde although she's more like "whitie".

Oh and also the police from Silent Hill.

Again, not main characters....

Funny how there's a vote, and when someone doesn't agree with the results, they complain about how the others are wrong and their opinions are invalid. But that's BSN for you...

I actually voted for #3, but I don't really mind that #5 won. Had #4 won instead, I would bet the same ****storm would have ensued.

Duncan was more half Spanish / half  British or Irish - His mother was from Rivaini which is inspired by Spain.

There are plenty of strong blonde female characters that aren't the "Barbie" stereotype btw. There's Samus, that chick from gears, and Miranda was original meant to be blonde but they changed it because brown hair went better with her uniform.
