This is an idiotic thread.
Clearly every woman with blonde hair is a moron, and a barbie - right?
In fact, you would go so far as to say that blonde women (particularly those with long hair) should be automatically rejected instantly if they apply to join the army, right?
Oh and the feminist movement has been set back 40 years because women want to play as a character with long hair - right?
Options 1, 2, 3, and 5 essentially all had an identical face, and the only real thing to distinguish them was their hair. It would appear from comments posted with votes, that the vast majority who selected 5 did so because they liked that hair design the most (length + style), but not necessarily the colour.
So... Blonde FemShep for the win. Huh.

I mostly see a lot of hating from people who voted for #5 and are somehow offended by the tread starter observing that the result of the poll seems to conform to the stereotype (which may be old, but that doesn't make it any less true), which was done in a very mild way, I should add.Ultai wrote...
So much hate for us blondes, sheesh. I'm trying to think of some female lead characters with blonde hair, the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is Samus. There's already plenty of non-blonde leads in video games.
BTW
I don't think the issue is whether or not blonde=dumb (which is silly of course) but whether this choice is the result of mostly male voters going with the stereotype of beauty=blonde without paying much attention to anything else (features etc.). Not saying that's the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is either.
And please remember that all of you posting here are but a fraction of the total number of voters, which makes it rather silly to take this discussion personally.

I'll never end up playing default femshep because I have dozens of sheps to import and there's little to no incentive to play a 'fresh start' shep over an import shep.. so ultimately the new face matters very little to me.
Besides.. I've played Shep since 2007 with the same face... that same face is Commander Shepard as I know her... I can't play Shep with another face, it doesn't look or feel like her.. it's just a pretender in my eyes and I suspect many people feel the same way about their own Shep (or even vanilla default shep, if that's what they played).

There is no attraction there for me. She's pretty and all but theres more to shepard that beauty. It was more of the vibe I got about all the shepards. I just thought she fit her personality the best. However, if I were to choose her hair color I would probably choose a deep red.
Even still...it really is no big deal. Such a non-issue that people should REALLY get over. It's not like ME3 will be ruined.

I have very dark hair and most celebrities/models I find attractive have dark hair so it is not like I feel insulted by the hate. It is just bizarre how many hate #5 for the simple reason of blonde hair and form such a negative opinion on the simple fact of the blonde color. If it was about long hair then those people would complain more about #4 since her hair makes it so she can only see out of one eye which would be even worse for combat.

Are you basing this off anything official? I was under the impression you will be able to change an imported face and class just like in ME2. In fact I would go so far to say it is utterly pointless for Bioware to even design a new hi res femshep face if it will be unused by such a large percentage of the player base.

You fail to understand how important Cmr. Shepard has become to many people. This is a hugely personal issue, touching on such factors as idealisation of a character, hours/days/weeks of time investment, personal easthetics, etc. In fact, when I think about it, this is what ME is all about. This is THE issue that will make or brake it....lightsnow13 wrote...

know, I'm not trying to attack you or anything. I'm just wondering,
since I've seen several people say something like this, how does she
look like your Shepard? There is no hair style like this in the game
(whatever the colour). Also, the features of #1-6 are very similar and
specific and unlike anything i've been able to create ingame.

It's not the game that is important. It's the marketing. That is the point. Is Sheploo that important to the game? No. Is he important to the marketing? Hells. Yes. The fact that they are even making the femshep face gets mass effect out there.
The fact that people voted for the blonde? Eh. Not that important. But the fact that Femshep is getting ANY media attention is the issue here. And that is great.
Is blonde hair and blue eyes a stereotype for beauty? Could we branch our perception of what classifys as a beautiful woman outside of this stereotype? Hell yes.
In fact, I'm a bit disapointed we didn't have a DARK skinned Shep to pick from. Not a Beyonce/Rhianna light skinned black woman. As if that is the only kind of black woman that can be beautiful. Or even a Shep that isn't that pretty at all...
But that is all besides the point.
Why can't Shep be pretty? As pretty as Sheploo is? And why can't she be blonde? Are blonde people somehow lesser warriors? Lesser people?
No. And that is my final answer. There is plenty to talk about. But decying the woman's hair color is not one of them.

Actually I believe the hairstyle ot Femshep 5 is in the game. It has naturally been improved upon since ME 2 (and these appear to be artist drawings so a bit of artistic license was used as well) but the actual hair style is in ME 2.

For research purposes I looked at the 10 most beautiful women of 2011 according to FHM:
http://www.fhm.com/g...0-sexiest-women
Overall there seems to be a pretty nice spread of hair colours. That would suggest blonde isn't as singularly important in determining what is attractive to men as I may initially have thought. Then again, FHM probably suffers from political correctness as well...
And on that note I say goodnight to you all.

I would love someone from Bioware to comment on the above. Best marketing you can have is a good product. If they produce a new face and then don't let everyone use it, I can guarentee it is that sort of thing that will popup negatively in reviews all over the place.Shimmer_Gloom wrote...

Doubtful. Then we'd have another bunch of fans screaming about how maleShep only gets 1 pre-made and femShep gets 6.
More or less the only purpose of this entire exercise is to have one to put on the back of the CE box.

Pretty much this, not to mention the femshep trailer that is coming as well. I have no doubt that you will be able to "recreate" a good representation of the other femsheps in the Character Creator though. If you aren't any good with the CC then you can bet it won't be long before some one creates the other femsheps and releases the face code.Boiny Bunny wrote...

Anyway some guy said that femshep #5's hair style isn't in the game and I believe it is. This is the hair style of femshep 5 in ME 2 :-

Obviously Femshep 5 is an artist impression so it is a tad bit more "fancy" than the ME 2 version but I believe this is the hairstyle Femshep 5's look is based on.

Casey Hudson on his twitter account said we'll be able to make cosmetic changes to our imported shepard (hair, etc)... not completely rebuild the face... selecting default femshep for an import would constitute rebuilding the entire face... thus, that option is out for imports.
You want fancy new femshep? Gotta start a new shep, non import.

But wasn't it possible to import an ME1 character into ME2 and then switch from a Custom Shepard to Sheploo/JaneShep while still being the same character?
Pretty sure that was possible and will be possible in ME3.

Maybe it's because the ME novels have declared blonde to be a rare color and thus is elevated to a perceived highly prized status while the common brunette is unintentionally further degraded to a lowly, bucolic, forgettable impression?
I'll have no complaints about a blonde Femshep as representative so long as I also get that hairstyle in ME3 and I can change the color for my own character. Love how the stray strands fall naturally as if she had been in combat. Much of the hairstyles are too neat, too stiff-looking
