Sad very sad days for female gamers
but oh well it was pretty clear that bw and ea think about money and nothing else.
What are they supposed to think about then? Bioware is a for profit business. They exist to make profits. Implementing femshep at all has apparently already cost them some profit, but they're sticking with it because they think they should. You might want to be a bit nicer to them considering that.
I hope they turn Sheploo into Edward Cullen so you would know how it feels like
In which case I'd just use a customized Shepard. By the way, you are aware that default maleshep's face is based on a clothing model, right?

BW deciding to promote their female lead, finally making a custom high quality image of that female lead comparable to the promo image of the male lead, promoting said female lead on the CE box, creating a trailer featuring said female lead, and allowing the community to participate in what the female lead will look like, and your response is "Sad very sad days for female gamers"? Seriously?
Where's Gaider with one of his "quit acting so entitled" rants when you need him?

Just an FYI, the pictures are of 5 and 6, not 4 and 6. FemShep 4 was my personal choice.
Peple can make mistakes when writing. It was a typo. FYI.
You're just mad at me because your choice lost. Deal with it.
I don't recall being upset by the vote or the choice. I don't recall stating I was angry because my choice didn't take pole position. Me thinks you may be reading more into my statement than is actually there.

So, the standard definition of western beauty that's been crammed down our throats for as long as I can remember won the competition. Why am I not surprised?
Yeah, "blonde" isn't really a part of that definition, which has to do with facial features and body shape. That ideal is also more mutable than is commonly believed.

Also, lol @ people who say blonde hair and blue eyes, one of the more rare things to find on a human, is boring and generic, and how Shepard should be more "diverse". (read: not white) Maybe consider what the word diverse means.
Take solace that you can still make Kumbaya Shepard as "diverse" as you want while you secretly seethe in your hilariously ironic racism.
You know, I don't see many people saying that. Also, before you start calling racism, you should leave out statements like "Kumbaya Shepard." Because that's REALLY ironic.<_<

I'm still hoping for the option of editing her in the game.
She looks great already but I'd prefer the skin to be darker and the hair to be black.

A large percentageof the people voting for the blonde femshep stated that they were voting more for the hair style and less for the actual color.
Link / source or that didn't happen.
I like your percentages taken out from nowhere. Oh you asked every person and did the percentage? Doubt it.
Also:
http://social.biowar...9/polls/22889/`
I actually read through a number of the responses left by people who voted for femshep 5.
http://www.facebook....11091644&type=1
First, people can comment there without voting.
And second, I actually read some of the most voted/liked comments there too:
"Get over it if you don't like the color of something, this is just going to be the base model and the one they use to advertise with we all know you all are going to customize it no matter who they pick."
"I like this! As a natural blonde I hate how everyone has this image of air headed bimbo. Femshep is the woman I want to represent that stereotypes are retarded and we are badasses. And we look good being badasses damn it. (:"
"This is funny because Jennifer Hale voiced Samus Aran"
"Sweet! Over 30 000! This version of female Shepard is a sure win. I, for one, am glad this one wins because there are not many blonde heroines who can kick **** nowadays. And long hair makes her look classy, like a space valkyrie. ^w^"
"Though I'am bit disappointed that few people have some disagreements with it. Nonsense like the hair is too long or hair color. But I'm comforted to know that the overflowing votes will wash away all the negative remarks"
"What is wrong with blonde hair? Thanks Hitler for making blonde hair so unpopular now >.> this is now, get over it."
"This is what my paragon femshep looks like in game, and she is badass and epic. If you haven't played a blonde femshep with longer hair, you can't really say "I can't picture this femshep as a serious solider" or "Blonde femshep might break a nail!" because you have never played it. Femshep can kick your ass no matter if she has
blonde hair or black hair!!!!"
"Some people really need to chill out. If this changes how you play or view the game or the female Shepherd in general, then you really have other things to worry about than what the gal on your game case looks like"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are some of the comments. There's comments of people saying otherwise, yes, but see? People have different opinions.
Also I could say you chose whatever was your choice (#4?) just because of her "unique" and stand-out hair style and/or skin tone.
See? How easy is generalizing.

I honestly fail to see what your issue is with my statement that many of those responding stated that they voted for the hair style more than the color. Yes, I'm sure many people voted for #5 because "she is hawt". So what. It doesn't invalidate my observation. I am now going to stop responding to you as you appear to be trolling.

Besides it's just your opinion, not a fact.
31.000 people voted for her and disagree she looks like a boy. That's what matters. No one cares if you think it looks like a boy, and no one asked for your expert opinion on her looks. <_<

Not when he/she is insulting her it and saying it looks like a boy. Explain me how a woman can look like a boy?
I respect everyone's opinions, but I don't go around telling the ones I consider look like a "boy", or that I don't like because of that and that. That's disrespectful towards other people.
(S)He has right to say her opinion. And I have the same right to tell him/her to shut up, since his/her opinion and the way it was expressed was offensive.
I wouldn't have a problem If (s)he said (s)he didn't like #5. Saying it looks like a boy is being offensive.

1) I don't play femshep.
2) If I did, I can change how she looks.
I fail to see the reason for the vitriol. This thread was asking what people though of the winning selection. His and my opinion differ from yours and you carry on as if it was a personal attack.
Opinions differ, take your own tagline advice and deal with it.

There are females that have an androgynous look, and males that have an androgynous look. He/she thinks that femshep number 5 has an androgynous look. I don't agree with him, but I don't think is that offensive. Clearly you disagree with him, and you can said to him, but you should be more composed in your reaction.

This choice shows that not only fans, but also Bioware, want to break stereotypical barriers. When someone new picks up the game and plays as default FemShep, the character will exceed expectations that were established from her looks. And that is what Shepard does: exceed expectations.
