So... Blonde FemShep for the win. Huh.

I have nothing against you personally, but I would ask that you judge FemShep by the content of her character, which is quite bad-ass so far, instead of making a snap-judgement based on the color of her hair.

Get over it, seriously, and lay off the sexism while you are at it. Sadly it seems to be some of the female commentators who are the worst.
P.S. Not aiming this at anyone in this thread, more the media commentary.

Anyway I find most of this blonde hate unwarranted. Half of my plays in ME2 we with a blonde female Shepard who was just as capable and awesome as any other Shepard. Thinking that her hairstyle or colour will suddenly affect her personality or ability to command is really naive and silly.

The fans were given six alternatives, and a winner was picked. I don't see what more there is to discuss on the matter.

I personally don't mind the blonde, the issue I have is them looking a tad younger than I thought. I did have my heart set on red haired defualt shepard but oh well. Just as long as I can have that hair without it being blonde (my canon is raven haired).
I just think the voting was also done wrong, half the people probably couldn't care less and as Captain Crash posted, it turned into a beauty contest not who would depict shepard the best, and that annoys me deeply.

Well I would have fixed eyes if I could without making her again from scratch.

Who gives a **** what Shepard won (I was for #5 anyways, **** yeah!)
You don't like it? Create your own shepard ingame and stop whining about it.
Sheesh, people like you probably have IRL issues or something.

Also, from a glance at the Facebook comments I'd say over half the people who voted her also suggested a change of hair color. She won solely because she's a blond "barbie", indeed...

I didn't hate the looks of the character, (Here's the selection, for anyone who hasn't already seen it.) and I thought it was pretty cool that Bioware let the fans help pick the design, but I can't help feeling just a tad disappointed in us, the community. Really guys?* They offered us one Combat Barbie amid 6 women (all of whom seemed to look a lot younger than shep's 29-31 yrs depending on how you view the timeline, but hey, that's Hollywood baby) and we went with the Barbie? Granted, the tousled hairdo was cool and seemed to fit the Shep persona, and most of us femShepers will probably continue using our custom designs anyway, but it's still a small blow to see a gaming company struggling to make strides in acceptance and inclusiveness feature a typical and cliched version of feminine strength and heroism. Thanks for trying Bioware, but apparantly, we're not ready for that kind of responsibility yet. Maybe you should've started us off with a goldfish, saw how we did with that, and went from there.
Then again... maybe I'm just bitter that my choice was shot down...
*guys is being used here to encompass all genders, fyi
Stop being discriminating, please. And saying that blonde "barbie" can't be strong is you taking strenght away from female gender. Ever thought about that? So it's you being sexist for not accepting blonde female as Commander Shepard.

From what I saw of the results, the Failbook poll was even more skewed than the one here.
Just saw this and I had to comment since I had a similar argument with someone about Metacritic user reviews of Dragon Age 2 yesterday. Now bear with me for a second.
I did the math based on total number of meta-critic user reviews versus the estimated number of sales of Dragon Age 2. Know what I found?
.0039% of people who bought Dragon Age 2 took the time to review it on meta-critic.
What's the point you ask? The point is that the kind of people who write reviews on meta-critic are the same kinds of people who post here.
Facebook isn't skewed. This forum is. Deal with it
