Putting up various ethnicities just for the sake of diversity has to be done at some point otherwise it will take what seems like forever to get there.

If you start doing that then that's not good at all. I'd rather the developers of any game make a character on how it fits the story best. Making Master Chief black or white really doesn't matter much to me since his character doesn't rely on ethnicity but if you got some Italian mobster as a main character and made him hispanic just because well that doesn't make sense.

It would be great if developers wrote stories that fit so long as they realize that certain depictions aren't solely reserved for particular ethnicities.  There's nothing that says a black, brown, red, or yellow individual cannot have the same upbringing a white individual has.  Nevermind that being black I am a bit of a cliche in that I do have a deadbeat father who I've never heard from I have a mother and step-father who took care of me and are still together.  I have family friends who enjoy/enjoyed a happy home life.  None of us live in the projects or know anything that goes on in the projects, but depictions of that sort are not readily available.

My issues stem from writers or their defenders saying that writers are writing about what they know and what they know (or choose to know) is very selective when it comes to lead characters.  Using myself, I primarily play Shepard as a female.  My being male doesn't stop me from getting involved in the story.  I can play the game as myself or I can imagine what kind of personality Shepard has and have her act accordingly so long as the game allows my input.  I mean, Chris L'Etoile wrote one of the most incredible women I've ever come across in gaming and Chris is male.  So why does it fall to a "writers write what they know" when it comes to ethnicity, but has no bearing when regarding gender?

Never played for femShep, but this one (blonde) is realy bad... It will spoil my CE backside (( Better Rihanna style than this... Also i fount her realy ugly for me and again more standart to other models. For example standart maleShep is realy original for other people models in game.
Well... so many topics about it, maby the biggest part of votes were made by men who even didnt play femShep just for fun on other side of fans? As for me, who played ME only with maleShep, this blonde looks not seriously. I think she better thinks about her nailes color or spa cream Stereotypes aren't casual...

Actually, I was mocking the general millieu of the thread, not anyone in particular herein (unless, of course, they ask/ed for it).  Are people worried that the story will be good?  Or the game mechanics, or anything pertinent to the actual game and it's future enjoyment?
