Seriously? You really think the character creator is going away and that blond shep will be mandatory?
Or am I reading that wrong?

I can't tell if you're being ironic or not... your profile picture is of blondy. Did you maybe not notice the similarity? Or is having her as your profile pic somehow a strange way of protesting?

Deal with it by being a whiny baby who can't handle things not going your way... HURRAY FOR YOU!
Yea your right their going to scrap the character creator AND the save import feature and MAKE you play as blonde shep. They even made a new class called Barbie where she fusses with her hair. HAHA I'm joking but I have this sick feeling that you honestly believe that.

This is quite incorrect. The new face will just be one of the presets (and all of the voted-on faces will be available as presets as well). The only reason to vote for your favorite is so that Bioware knows which face to put in the trailer and which to put on the box. That's it.

Again, I don't understand. I'm handling it my way, by fighting. Why is that unreasonable?

I don't. I guess I didn't make myself clear; I meant that the hoe will probably have a more detailed face and better hair model, like DA2's Hawke, that won't be available otherwise. And that Bioware will not bother upgrading the others.

Of course your sig is showing, but so is your profile picture. Thus the attempt at irony on your part.
I guess I don't understand why you would object to an official face that looks exactly like the face you created for your Shep. You don't like that the face you created is popular?

An admirable defense, but Mesina and I have a hate-hate relationship, so he dosen't need your help.
I once used a translator to help a newbie out on a forum I frequent, I don't make a habit of insulting others for their birth language. Mesina has better grammer/sentence structure skills than that, so I laughed at him for it.

Thanks for trying to be a diplomat, but my shep is quite inferior. That is why I'm against the wannabe, because she is like mine, only better. I spent years refining her appearance, only to have Bioware step in and say "LUL what that? HeRe is good femshep". I had such attachment to this character, but now I'd be stupid not to switch.
... nice shep, btw.

It's just a backlash from all the pro-blonde mentalities out there; if you got these people in a room with an actual nice blonde person, they would 99% of the time not act like bastards to them. It's just the fact that FemShep is a figure who's in the media, in a trailer and on the game box, which sort of sends the message "this is how it should be, this is the canon FemShep." But the article the OP linked to says it better:slimgrin wrote...
If we actually get a blonde femshep, I'll be amazed, given the crazy anti blonde rage. And there is no lack of blonde haters on this site. I mean, there's a kind of fervent burn-in-hell anti blonde hate. It scares me.
There is a less vocal group of people saying that blondes aren’t
usually depicted as heroes, that they are usually are depicted as bimbos
or damsels in distress, which is also true, Metroid‘s Samus
aside. But then there’s also a greater group of cultures that aren’t
depicted at all, or when they are, they are also only ‘eye candy’.
Recall the last time you saw a strong, independent Asian, Hispanic,
Native American or woman of color in a video game. This contest was a
way to help get a minority out there, depicted in a positive light, and
instead lost to a classic example of “beauty”, who just by being born
blonde has often had an easier time in life on average than other women
(just look how easily her type won over the votes!)
It breaks my heart along with some of my fellow fans that though we
won the battle, we won’t win the war to get a unique, diverse,
respectable female character like the world has never seen before out
there. In the eyes of many, our victory to even get FemShep represented
has been marred by the fact that people will choose the standard of what
a woman “should look like”, over something different every time.
Holly Conrad's suggestion is also a lovely what-might-have-been:
Since each Shep has a story, why not have fans submit a photo of their
Shep and a story? Boil down who their Shep is, why she's awesome. It
would both create fan engagement, as well as show the loyalty of the
fans. Then have people vote on that. It creates a story about Shepard,
not an image we just click on.
I've seen fan-made Shepards of all hair colors which I liked better than any of the posters, though I guess that would be too much trouble.
I don't think they're going to change the blonde hair despite the strong reactions. Sadly, I don't even expect they'll change her eyebrows or make her look the right age or give her a bit of extra muscle. I think #5 and indeed all the FemSheps would be less controversial/more appealing if they would go that route. She would look a lot less like the common Hollywood standard of beauty if she looked a bit more like a soldier in terms of body type. I know I'd feel a lot prouder to be a FemShep fan if the final version looked age-appropriate and strong enough to beat me in an arm-wrestling match, whatever her coloring.

I can kind of understand where this person is coming from but whoever wrote this seems to have miss part of the point of the contest. The contest was to market Fem shep which a minority seemed to want. By saying its a loss because Shepard isn't a woman of color or isn't Asian is saddening to me really. A female shepard is a minority in itself. Female shepard is already strong, intelligent and beautiful woman usually no matter how you play the game. It may seem shallow for people to vote for some to vote #5 but its equally shallow to see a blonde female shepard as not good enough to market the character.
The problem with that is that most would chose their own shepard and the one who may get the most votes may even be assumed to be a canon fem shep. Why not assume that? Basically that shep has been given a specific back story which could be construed as canon. Even Male shep didn't get that much attention.Holly Conrad's suggestion is also a lovely what-might-have-been:

I'm sorry but I just don't agree entirely with this especially with the hollywood standard for beauty. The body most fem sheps have is pretty average. Its nice to look at but in general fem sheps body looks kind of average and it seems she has some lean muscle even but I don't see her as a hollywood standard for beauty. Even her voice throws it off. I picked #3 since she looked similar to my shep and seems a bit more aggressive than the others. The blonde shepard appears that she could kick some ass and the only thing throwing others off is the fact that she is blonde. Even the face isn't to different from the others.

I'm hesitant to explain the meme here, since linking to the 'deal with it' meme led to a sarcastic response. But since people keep seemingly complimenting me on a shep that I didn't create (though her face does look pretty similar to the one I make, I just use shorter hair. Also unfortunate that you can't add glasses in the game), I feel that it is my duty: Hipster Mass Effect.

I used women of color in general to represent all minorities in Western nations (Since thats what assume the poster was referring to when mentioning diversity). I said Asians, native americans etc. to just be specific.
