Well what do you expect? This is the BSN right? People complain about everything...

On topic: Blondes... I like. Don't see the problem with having blonde Femshep on one side of the cover. Don't like it? Turn the ME3 case around to face the other way. Problem solved=]

I'm Commander Shepard and this is the STUPIDEST thread on the Social Network.

I've spent two games using my own Femshep and ignoring all the Sheploo PR and playthrough rubbish. Frankly whatever a canon Femshep looks like, unless they use 753.QQR.E1G.W84.7V1.G4M.648.A41.H16.375.233.616, she won't look anything like my Shepard.

Why the hell is anyone getting their panties in a bunch over what she looks like? Can't Femshep supporters just be glad that Femshep is finally getting any attention at all?!

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Fixed it for ya pal.

Anyway, I'm surprised that this thread is still alive. Is it that hard to deal with the design choice?

Well, seeing that they opened up new sexual choices, it sounds like the male shepard will already be getting the shaft in ME3 some of the time...

Why was there even a competition when theres a default female shepard in the first place? It just seems a bit...stupid. All this rioting for a female trailer is just pointless, and it makes people hate eachother. I don't care if they use the pedophile shepard model, reguardless if I feel my custom shep is the only one suitable. It's my opinion, and I will be importing him. Just be patient everyone. Besides... 9/10 female shepards are actually men....

I will disappear in the crowd but maybe there is a point to put down my 2 cents.

I voted for the blonde version, should now I feel bad? Despite what maybe all others think I didn't had the typical "bimbo" reasons to do that.
My Shep was the one on my avatar, see she was always blonde right from ME1. Not becouse they are more popular or beautiful, I actually have a knack for redheads (if there were a red version of the blonde's hairstyle, I'd voted for that immediately :D ), but becouse it was a close to natural (some colors were just awfully artificial) color and the black/brown versions tend to blend into the background. You can see it lot of youtube videos with black haired shepards... with a black armor, she seems like a floating face :D
So in my case gameplay, and aesthetic - as a whole gameplay and look as a unit with the armor (irl I don't really like that heavy make-up on girls) - reasons made Shepard as she is on my avatar and gameplay.

To tell the truth I think would have been a more interesting vote if the people were able to pick up the various elements like the eye of #2, the hairstile of #4 the color of #3 and make a variation. Maybe the the vote wouldn't be this one-sided.
But I can understand why was it the way it was and just be happy that we'll have a 'default Femshep' and she gets the recognition she deserves (most fans will create their own Shepard anyway).
:wizard:

By the way: we heard that by the statistics, only 20% of the players played as Femshep and 50% finished the game. I wonder what the finish ratio of the Femshep players (chances are that the same 50% but still :)  )

Why?  Because femShep has never had a custom high quality default face in the same vein as Sheploo.  Default femShep in 1 and 2 were just a slight alteration of one of the presets.

Why have a competition for it?  To let the fans get involved in it.  Fans are always asking to have more input into the game, I thought this was a pretty cool way to do it.  BW just didn't figure on the immaturity of the fanbase first, or maybe they did and just didn't care and did it for the folks that appreciate it.

Now the fact that folks complain about hair color instead of it taking 3 games before femShep got the same attention given to her as Sheploo is because people are just selfish, shallow, and mean spirited when in a large anonymous groups.  If half the people posting here pretending the complaining is done under the banner of not treating femShep like a Barbie actually cared about the portrayal of females in video games they would have been complanining about the later all along instead of the former now.

Television and movies empIoying actors in their late 20's and sometimes
early 30's to portray teens kind of makes it hard for a lot of people to
actually be able to recognize age, and I know it doesnt help that
Sheploo is modeled after a guy in his mid 40's to represent someone 31,
but that is the male model that is not accurate, not femSheps.

I am a thirty-one-year-old who is often mistaken for being ten years younger. She still looks significantly younger than me.

For me it isn't the fact that a "blonde" won, but moreso of the fact that out of 6 women, basically 5 of them were white (one having a tan) and only one "ethnic" female.

Where was the racial diversity? This isn't 1957 anymore....

I'm just back from the pub (it's 3.24am here) and it might as well be, we were having a discussion about the London and else where in England riots and it decended into a debacle about how it was all the "darkies" fault.

Darkies being a nickname for people with dark skin. This post wasn't written with the intent of offending anyone and if I did I apologise, just saying that people in Scotland and in the rest of the U.K. were pretty much racist till the mid 80's then everyone magically became tolerant.

It still exists and it's still pretty bad.

Edit: I have idiot sobering up fingers, fixing errors as I see them.

Of course racism exist but I am not implying that Bioware is racist, I am just saying that in terms of racial variety/representation in the 6 female Shepards, Bioware could have done a better job. Again like I said, basically 5 of the 6 where white and only one "non-white" female.

Again, in 2012 you sort of expect much more.

Personally I really like the way rhiannashep looks, so much more badass looking than the blonde one.

As to the poster (David McG) above, I agree, racism still exists in society, but in more subtler/overt ways, which is even worse than outright racism. It's also pretty extensive in media, especially the portrayals of certain ethnic groups and the roles they have in tv shows or movies.

I agree, I was pretty disappointed when I heard how I have been drinking with a pub full of racists for the last 4 years and didn't even know (pretty much an all white town I live in). I think bioware should have had more ethnicities to choose from, as there are plenty in the game as NPC's

never really noticed it too much but your right, theres a supprising lack of diversity in the options that were given.

#6 had light brown skin not just "a tan" with dark hair, and her facial structure could indicate some sort of hispanic or middle eastern descent.

#1-#3 looked exactly the same with different hair color. So basically 1,2, and 3 are the same "ethnically".

So it looks like we got 4 distinct Shepards:

1-3: White skin, only hair color/style varies.
4: "ethnic"
5: Only white Shepard with long hair. Note: If #5 had dark/red hair color, would she still have won?
6: "ethnic"

So I believe there was racial diversity in the options, as only 3 distinct ethnicities were portrayed: white, black, and hispanic. Yes there were more options that were white, but the entire discussion becomes sort of silly when we take into account that #4 has the second most votes.

Now, all this thing with "blonde" FemShep. Seriously, it is insulting. I'm not even blonde (brown hair, hispanic actually) but why is there all this talk of "bimbo" FemShep? It just baffles me that with the majority of FemShep fans being female, that so many are contributing to a hurtful stereotype against women. There's obviously no correlation between someone's hair color and her/his intelligence. I can think of one huge bimbo right now, and she is not blonde. (2 clues, S.P., republican)

Not to mention that excluding 4 and 6, all other options' faces look pretty much the same. Had, let's say, #2 won, would the "blonde bimbo" crowd be referring to her as the "ginger bimbo"? instead. I think not. I am Disappoint.

Agreed. (not about the diversity but I'm too tired to get into that and will be getting some sleep after this post) One of the most clever witty and most capable of kicking any guys ass ( I've seen it done, it was such a youtube moment) that I know is a blonde, with freckles.

Stereotypes are just childish and people perpetuating them on these forums doesn't make anyone sound witty or clever.

Don't give me that crap!

Shepards 1,2,3 and 5, 6 are ALL distinctly white. #6 has tan skin but she is obviously white/Caucasian

Shepard 4 is the only obviously non-white female

There was NO racial diversity in those 6 Shepards. The poll was obviously skewed in favor of the caucasian female.
