So it looks like we got 4 distinct Shepards:

1-3: White skin, only hair color/style varies.
4: "ethnic"
5: Only white Shepard with long hair. Note: If #5 had dark/red hair color, would she still have won? 
6: "ethnic"

So I believe there was racial diversity in the options, as only 3 distinct ethnicities were portrayed: white, black, and hispanic. Yes there were more options that were white, but the entire discussion becomes sort of silly when we take into account that #4 has the second most votes. 

Now, all this thing with "blonde" FemShep. Seriously, it is insulting. I'm not even blonde (brown hair, hispanic actually) but why is there all this talk of "bimbo" FemShep? It just baffles me that with the majority of FemShep fans being female, that so many are contributing to a hurtful stereotype against women. There's obviously no correlation between someone's hair color and her/his intelligence. I can think of one huge bimbo right now, and she is not blonde. (2 clues, S.P., republican)

Not to mention that excluding 4 and 6, all other options' faces look pretty much the same. Had, let's say, #2 won, would the "blonde bimbo" crowd be referring to her as the "ginger bimbo"? instead. I think not. I am Disappoint.

Agreed. (not about the diversity but I'm too tired to get into that and will be getting some sleep after this post) One of the most clever witty and most capable of kicking any guys ass ( I've seen it done, it was such a youtube moment) that I know is a blonde, with freckles.

Stereotypes are just childish and people perpetuating them on these forums doesn't make anyone sound witty or clever.

Diversity is overrated, I play a game because I want to have the experiences of its world not because my race is or isn't represented in it I don't cry because I don't have a black protagonist, I don't cry if I don't have a woman protagonist, I see the game I like the world it wants to set me in and I start playing .If you choose a game based off of what racial team or sex team is involved then you're in the wrong place the creators make a lead, they make a story, they make a world if you don't like it then don't play it.

And also banner peeps can anyone do a Joan of Earth one please?

Second: Get used to people having their own F@#$ing individuality and having you know, opinions. I think that option 6 is ethnically different from 1-3,5. I think she could be hispanic, she could be indian, or whatever. Why should I be attacked for expressing my opinion?

The ONLY reason that #5 won is because she has long hair! If #2 had #5 hairstyle, she would have probably won because we all love redheaded Jane Shepard! So no, #5 did not win because she is white, she won because she has pseudo-feminine messed up longer hair than all the other options. 

Want more proof? The option with the second most votes, the "non-white" as you call it...is the only other option with long hair!!!!! (6 does not count as it is pulled up)

By saying that 1,2, and 5 are basically white, that shows that 50% of the the "poll" were white options. The same can't be said about hispanic, Asian, or black options.

This thread would be around no matter who won it would just be titled something along the line of "whaaa...I didn't get what I want" and this is the jist of that would go on in it.... so basicly the same dang thing that goes on here. <_<

As someone who is multiracial, I find it a little weird that some people get so worked up about this. I think we have been increasingly well represented on tv and film - there's been plenty of progress over the years. I don't see why some people feel that diversity has to be forced down people's throats in this manner. I'm guessing that the artists came up with some designs they liked, and they included some vaguely minority options.

It wasn't 1:1:1, but I don't think artists should be required to fill some kind of racial quota when they're trying to come up with character designs. I'm half Chines, a quarter Hispanic (my grandmother was from Guatemala), and I'm a quarter Irish-Welsh. All I care about is having a default femshep that is of comparable quality to the maleShep, whether or not it's a white/black/latina/hapa Shep.

Which 2 white ethnicities (yes, there are differences)? And which two African ethnicities? Should we make a distinction between actual Africans and African-descended populations in the US, Carribean, and other regions? Which two Asian ones?   Now, hispanic, that's a tricky one:  did you know Spaniards are often considered to be included in "hispanic"? Many of them look just as white as anyone with more Northern European ancestry.  Hell, so do many Mexicans. And what about Middle Eastern choices?  Does the Indian subcontinent get its own category? Native Americans? Do we distinguish between Inuit, Aleuts and other arctic or near-arctic peoples (or do we just lump them into the "Asian" category, since many of them live there too), those from lower North American latitudes such as the Plains tribes, Central American groups such as the Zapotecs, and South American tribes? How many Polynesian peoples should be in there? Melanesians? Should we also include an aboriginal Australian?

That's funny way to shift goal posts. Your first assumption that 1,2,3,5 and 6 are all caucasian (even though their can be several different ethnic groups referred as caucasian). I disagreed with that assumption and said only half are basically white even though they could be mixed and its not noticeable aesthetically. The other half are of different ethnic groups.

You are putting too much focus in race and act like its the 1950s. Many races have been featured in media. Now I'm going to assume you are talking about  Western media and even here plenty of races are shown. Are they shown as much as caucasian Americans in the US? No you know why? Caucasians are the majority over here and simple reasoning shows that they will shown more simple as that.
