She looks like more of a Hollywood actress than the fifth. I have a question, if the fifht shoud have black hair, or brown hair, you would think that she's a Barbie? Having blonde hair doesn't mean to be a Barbie.
This is Barbie- officially brought to you by Matel- in my opinion, blonde shep looks alot like her.
This is black Barbie ~ Also brought to you by Mattel...
Beautiful, right? Just like black femshep....
I'm a blonde female, I voted for the Shep I felt most connected to ~ shoot me... and frankly I think all the ridiculous comments on FB about men *voting for Barbie* is a real insult to them and the daftest assumption ever... If one of the others had won, I really woudn't have lost any sleep since, you know - create your own Shepard.. LMAO..

If it were me and the default FemShep face was going to be the deciding factor of buying the game or whether I play a male or female character, I wouldn't buy the game.
The mistake was putting it on Facebook, anyone could vote then!
I also believe they should have just went with Black hair for all 6 because it's a neutral color. I would have also given them all the same hairstyle, shaved head, so that we wouldn't know what the hair looked like and we'd vote based purely on the look of the face.
Other than the fact that I don't like blonde hair OR blue eyes and certainly not together.
I also fail to see the problem with number 4. She looks tough, confident, and like she could kick my ass.

If Barbie was in fact an iconic ginger and all of these valley girl stereotypes and 'dumb blonde' jokes were instead directed at people with ginger hair, then it wouldn't make a difference in that case--people would still be complaining about #5 if she just so happened to be a redhead as she would look 'barbie-ish'.
It's just a colour,guys.

It's a color that a lot of people seem to take as an inherent indicator of superiority. I think that's the reason for the prejudice--the fact that actual prejudice tends to be leveled against the rest of the world, not blondes, who are "more fun" and "preferred by gentlemen" and all of that good stuff.Lady Catastrophe wrote...

Redheads, on the other hand, do get teased a lot for the color of their hair as children, as opposed to blondes. Jews and people of African descent have been oppressed and killed. I don't think the world has completely recovered from that, and in that vein a bit of resentment is inevitable.
I don't mind that she's blonde so much as it's obvious she dyes her hair regularly, yet didn't even bother to fix her eyebrows.

Otherwise, I can't really say much about the 5th design. I'm not crazy about the hair for its impracticality but meh.
I'd much rather let Jennifer Hale choose which one she liked herself and be done with it [she chose the red haired
one].

Since most of them have the same face that would have basically brought the vote down to white Shep or black Shep. Yeah I can see how that would have caused less crying.....

I don't really have a problem with any of them, they all share those qualities. I just like #5 more. The level of /wrists over the whole thing is quite comical though.

#4 looks like she spends too much time in front of the mirror before heading out of a door. there's nothing confident about her looks, I would deem it the quite opposite given how artificial she looks.
#6 isn't as bad as #4 in this regard, but she too looks fake. Just another area of 'I spend lots of time on myself to look like this' area of fake. Just like Goth girls are just guilty of being fake as 'obvious clubgirls' are.
#5 is the only of the femsheps that looks natural while maintaining a strong sense of her feminity while she kicks arse.

Blonde is not cliched, society (American specifically) turned it into a cliche though. Dudes can come in here and say how they don't personally like blondes and that's stereotyping, and I respect that, but blonde has become the "ultimate beauty" in America. That's why so many women dye their hair blonde and that's why Barbie is blonde, It cannot really be argued. That's where the bitter comes from.
That said, I kind of like Shep being blonde because it takes a little away from that bitter, if you let it. Blonde does not just equal "that mean girl that thought she was hot **** in highschool", but also can equal a badass hero of the galaxy. Try to see it that way and you might not be so angry anymore. Just remember: Discrimination is bad no matter what and you can make your own Shep.

Natural? Bleach blonde with black eyebrows is natural to you? Sorry, but calling #5 more natural than 4 or 6 is just silly. Maybe the style itself is more natural, but certainly not the color.SalsaDMA wrote...

The only thing that still truly bothers me is those pesky dark brows. I wouldn't like FemShep to have black hair with blonde eyebrows, either. It just looks fake and unattractive to me. I think she would look better and more eye-catching with bright red hair, but I could accept the blonde if only they'd fix the brows (and preferably make the color not so platinum-esque, maybe more dirty; it would look more real.) Make her like Kahlee Sanders, one of the few natural blondes left; it suits Shepard better than a hair-bleaching regimen. She doesn't have the time to waste on maintaining bleached roots.
She's called Samus Aran and she was one of the first female video game characters ever. Also, Nina Williams from Death by Degrees, the main from Parasite Eve I & II,Therefore_I_Am wrote...

I don't recall anything about a main character, just a character. Truth be told, it doesn't matter to me. The appearance of the chosen femshep is an overused archetype, to me.

Samus Aran is, though she sports full armor. You're right; it's pretty rare for main characters. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Faith (Mirror's Edge), Jade (Beyond Good and Evil), Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark), Rayne (Bloodrayne), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Cate Archer (No One Lives Forever), and April Ryan (The Longest Journey) are some of the other female main characters in video games that immediately come to my mind, and there's not a blonde in the bunch to my recollection.

Especially the 80's generation... I think that's where this whole overdose of blonde came from. He-Man, Guile from Street fighter, the whole number of 80's bands with blonde singers, and barbie herself. When barbie started out she was strictly blonde and had no diversity... and this was before everything was politically correct.
It sort of ruined the whole image, but the video game industry is the one place where it rarely happens.

The idea is laughable.
Also, hair color and the color of the facial hair can differ. It doesn't have to be a sign of dyed hair. Different genes are responsible for that.
