So... Blonde FemShep for the win. Huh.

Yep!
From the looks of things Bioware have no intention of altering any appearances. What you see is what you will get. If you want redhaired shep to win then you will have to vote for redhaired shep #2.

Bioware can not get it 100% right for everyone. I look up and already people are saying "I prefer this version of #5". They could be tweaking her forever if they take everyones opinions into consideration. There is no middle ground when you ask for tiny tweaks like this. They had to take a stand. Be grateful you had the choice to begin with I say instead of having a default thrust upon you that potentially only a slim number of people liked.

Blond hair people is almost extinct in ME world, makes sense that the biggest badass in the galaxy have something distinctive from the rest
Personally i would like that she looks more like this:
But nobody can get what they will wish for, so deal with it
Oh yeah, that's actually pretty good.
I'm less annoyed that she's blonde (though I think blonde is boring) than I am annoyed at the hair style. The one you've presented is better, but I prefer no hair in the face. The universe's greatest badass needs to be able to see her targets, please.

Why you do not ignore these complaints ? You are afraid that they do change their minds ?

I was only interested in rejecting the idea that "democracy" reduced to its most base form is automatically good and desirable. As for the content and topic of the thread, I already said earlier Shep5 doesn't bother me. It's much better than that stupid Rihana Shep with her hair all in her eyes. Though my preference was for Shep6.Pulletlamer wrote...

I'm sorry but that's how the system works. The minority is not usually represented. That's why there's a votation so the majority wins. You can call it how you want. It may be not be the perfect system but it's what we have.
Making a thread to complain about who's winning doesn't help, though. Don't you think?
Forums are here to discuss the game. That means what you like, and what you don't. OP is perfectly within their right to create the thread. If I don't like it, I don't have to read it. There are plenty of others to choose from.

Many people could have voted for the long hair. Why not be sure that it is because she is blonde that majority of votes are for her ?
Why to be so intransigent you the spokespersons of democracy ?

They cant tweak every single Shepard for everyones individual opinion.
Before you ask I voted for #2 by the way as I felt redhaired was more important then style of hair. Something you have to compromise on as David Silvermans tweet points out.

Because Bioware did a poll with specific candidates. What you vote is what you get. Simple. If you prefered another hair color, don't vote #5.
Oh, but I want #5 with balck hair, or red. They're not going to do it, because it will take forever to take all the suggestions into account and to change the winner. If we start making polls for if which color we prefer, then what makeup we prefer, then what nose shape we prefer, then what eye color we prefer, etc etc it will be a waste of time (and resources) and in the end everyone won't get what they voted for since there will be 1000 options and no one will be happy.
Everyone has their tastes and their opinion. But if you prefer redheaded people over blonde, don't vote #5 expecting that they'll change it.
To be fair asking for more polls seems another weak excuse for not saying you don't like the one is winning, nor can't accept it's the one the majority have voted for.

Yes, but platinum does not go with black. Real facial hair/head hair combos have a sense of subtlety; they're at least within a few shades, not bordering on being polar opposites to each other.Errol Dnamyx wrote...
Facial hair is often darker than the hair on the top of the head.
I think ancient history is beside the point. Recent history tells a different story, unless there's a blonde holocaust within the last hundred years you'd like to enlighten me about. I'd find that interesting, if extremely surprising.Errol Dnamyx wrote...

The idea is laughable.
There's actually no logical reason why this shouldn't have an influence. Entertainment has, however unwittingly, encouraged steroid use, plastic surgery, and all other manner of unhealthy things. Yes, there is such a thing as personal responsibility, and I'd hardly advocate forcing change as it is not only unethical but doesn't work, but it's just a bit too convenient to blame the victims, as if the entertainment industry was powerless to improve the state of affairs.
The subtle "blondes are better" mentality doesn't exactly make North America look progressive to the rest of the world. You can find plenty of exceptions, sure, but it's still there, an ugly undercurrent--and from both angles, since blondes are no dumber by nature than any other hair color either.
A courageous and unique option--which we didn't see presented--would've been a Middle Eastern-looking Shepard. Controversial, maybe, but it would have been a positive vision of the future after the wars between the nations of Earth ended and women all over the world were liberated, which showcases what makes the ME series different from others. It's too bad they didn't go that route.
When the selection isn't ideal, you go for the one you like best and ignore the flaws (or the things you don't care about, which probably represents the majority). There's no reason to believe that, considering the fact that roughly every 4 out of 5 comments on the facebook page for #5 said "this is awesome, but her hair should be red (or black)," blonde was actually preferred. Earlier polls (discussed on David Silverman's twitter) which were about nothing more than eyes and hair gave us a redhead with green eyes.Pulletlamer wrote...

I've studied statistics enough to know that the blonde Shepard winning doesn't necessarily mean that those who voted for her wanted her to be blonde. Particularly since there was only one blonde option, and a redhead who almost didn't look like a redhead at all. The choice they gave us seems... limited. It could have certainly been better.

^This.
I'm tired of the "femShep needs to have short hair or have it pulled back." I like long hair, and I like seeing it free.
The color of the hair didn't really matter to me although I would have prefered it to be brown.
The other pic that the OP wanted looks too emo. It's terrible and covers half her face.
