Hi, I have the Japanese version of Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox 360. The DLC Kasumi's Stolen Memory was just released for the Japanese version today. I have downloaded it but everytime I try to start the game with the DLC installed it just crashes my Xbox 360. I have tried clearing my cache and re-downloading the DLC but this does not work.
What happens is when I load my saved game it crashes on the loading screen. I have tried moving my saved game off the Xbox 360 and then start a new game. The game will start but once I finish the first mission and hit a load screen the game crashes. When I delete the DLC the game works perfectly so this is definitely an issue with the DLC.

Can someone at Bioware look in to this please.

There is very little (if any) official support on these boards. Occasionally an official employee may see the issue, though from experience it is usually a PC problem they do address directly. So your request, such as it is, is probably best directed to EA support for obvious reasons; they should (hopefully) have the resources and knowledge to assist you with your problem.

More practically have you considered redownloading the dlc in case your download was corrupted? Might be worth a try at least.

Hi, yeah I didn't think it was likely to attract someone from Bioware, but I thought it would be worth a shot. I have tried the EA support live chat, but to be honest they weren't any help. No matter how many times I tried to explain that the issue was relating to the Xbox 360 the support agent would keep suggesting things related to Nvidia Cards and other PC solutions. Then eventually posted some of Microsoft terms saying that they are responsible for content and that EA don't offer refunds for that platform and to contact Microsoft for a refund. I wasn't even looking for a refund, I just want to be able to play the DLC.
And I have redownloaded the DLC but it just simply doesn't work. Annoying.

On the refund issue (not that it's relevant) even XBox Live marketplace in the UK here has a blurb stating that once purchased that is the end of the matter. Not sure how well that would stand if the download is faulty, though I doubt anyone has managed to raise too big a fuss about it.

There's another thing concerning support though, and I'm not sure how it will effect different territories but I have a suspicion that you will need to contact the Japanese side of things to see if it's a known problem their end. Sometimes these big companies divide things up and don't give the necessary support for purchases in other territories. Some will even deny support. Any clues as to how you could perhaps access support from the manual (seeing you have a Japanese version)?

I really have no clue on who to contact at the Japanese side of things. I guess I could try xbox Japanese support, might be worth a shot.

Perhaps. Or see if you can find someone who is actually competent at EA support. That too is worth a shot (especially if support is routed back to them no matter what territory the game is released in).

I will be trying EA support again, but I'm not really expecting much. A friend of mine has also confirmed the the DLC is broken, as his Xbox 360 crashes too when attempting to play it.

Is your Xbox 360 a Japanese Xbox 360? Does the game match the region? There have been some cases that DLC does not work or can cause issues if the region of the Xbox 360 is not the same as the game and the DLC that is being purchased.

Hi, thanks so much for replying to my post. I have a Japanese Xbox 360 and the game does match the region. I have played and completed the game so no issues there. But after I downloaded the newly released DLC (Kasumi's Stolen Memory) it crashes every single time. I have tried everything to get it to work. I have a friend who also has a Japanese Xbox 360 and the Japanese version of the game and he downloaded the DLC too and he is experiencing the same issues with the DLC.

It seems the DLC has been removed from the Japanese marketplace, so I guess someone has realized there is an issue with it.

Fingers crossed that they'll release a version that doesn't cause an problem pretty soonish then; I can't imagine customers being denied something they legitimately purchased will be very pleased with the experience.

I've been checking this thread quite often. Is there any news on when the dlc will be put back on the marketplace?

Yeah, I would also like to know if there is any news on when the DLC will be put back on the Japanese Marketplace. Maybe someone at Bioware could shed some light on this please.

I had my parents in England buy me a points card and downloaded the addons using a UK account. It might be worth doing the same (you can buy US points cards from play-asia.com and get them from the US xbox live perhaps?).

That said, my copy of the game is from England also... not sure if they will work with Japanese copy of the game? If you live anywhere near Shinjuku, you're welcome to meet me and try it if you want?

Unfortunately that won't work; the Japanese title is completely separate from the version that was released everywhere else, so only the Japanese DLC will work with the Japanese title.

I don't understand why EA are like that to be honest... they region lock xbox360 games, yet don't bother with the ps3 versions. Doesn't make any sense to me!

Region locking just doesn't make any sense whatsoever, no matter what the format. Though with dlcs I'm guessing there could be a coding issue related to language and options. Doesn't help the situation that some of you are facing mind you.

Over the 10 months (Not include the time to be localized), we are waiting a long time.
But there is ever news.
Why do they ignore completely the old fans?

It is not a problem of a region code.
The issue of broken Kasumi DLC (Japanese version) has not yet been addressed for over three months.
EA Japan says BioWare is still working on fixing broken Kasumi DLC.
Please give me the news about this issue.

Likelihood is you'll need to contact EA support for official updates if any exist. The devs rarely ever address the console versions of the games.

Last week, one of Japanese ME2 players called EAJ's customer service, and asked what is going on,
but the answer s/he got was only "BioWare is fixing the problems now."
We are not even sure about EAJ did something to fix it.

I know posting this here might be useless, but we need some testimory from BioWare.
For example, "localization is not our work, either" is enough.

Much as I can understand you and agree with you the point I made still stands. Ever since the topic was first brought to light no official presence has ever graced this thread. It might be worth contacting one of the head honchos around here, but again, no-one has ever given any official word on the situation.
