I found this as I was perusing youtube.  Thought it would be an interesting view for the graphically illiterate, like myself  :)

Link

Looks like the Bioware graphics department is really trying to up the ante.  Whadya think?

I didn't know people were complaining, seems obvious to me that there has been a significant increase in graphical detail. Still, great vid, thanks for linking

Hopefully it will finally support DX10 at least. The shadow effects on some of those screens are too good for DX9 to handle.

Given that it was an Xbox demo, it will more than likely be DX9, and not 10 or 11. I cant picture Bioware getting the extra money from EA to implement multiple versions of DX.

Good enough to drool anyway without DX11 support.

That was awesome. I believe ME3 will push the 360's power to the near-max.

That's cool.

Now, for ME4, let's implement this.

I f***ing love the future.

It notes that so far cutscenes are not pre-rendered - has that been confirmed. I got a new gfx card at the weekend and the cutscenes are substantially shown out to be the poor cousin, when playing at high res (1920x1080p) and (1680x1050).

Edit: For clarity - the cutscenes in ME2

Damn, that's now 3 copies of ME3 I'm going to have to buy.....

(tries to convince himself that he wasn't going to buy it on PS3, 360 and PC, anyway)

DX11 implementation is over-rated, so far.  DA2 has DX11 and it is barely distinguishable with the DX9 renderer in gameplay.

I think DX9/10 can still perform at a nice level.  And, I have a DX11 card!

MMORPGTPSRTS set in Mass Effect IP with ability to import your ME3 Shepard while playing diffrent character as Human( Male and Female), Turian( Male and Female), Asari( Female only), Salarian( Male only), Quarian( Male and Female), Drell( Male and Female), Krogan( Male and Female) & Geth with those graphics and I would even pay monthly fee.

The animations impressed me more than any level of graphic detail. Given that the ME team worked with DICE (makers of the jaw-dropping Battlefield 3 engine) on sound, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they had some involvement with the animations.

I mean how clunky would a sideways roll or wide armed stab with the omni-tool look in ME2 or god forbid ME1? The team has done their homework for this one, and it has me very optimistic.

I will reserve judgement on that link until I actually see an animated scene rendered on a current PC. There are a ton of questions based off of that video. They need to set up an actual Tech Demo for industry people to look at and question.

Dragon Age II supports DirectX 10 and 11.

Very interesting, and seeing as how I do 3d modeling and animation (granted for it's for industrial applications, but that just changes the product, not the process) I would love to see how this actually works and how/if it would change the way we do animations. BTW the link is getting passed around the office now, thanks for posting it :)
