Make Normal the Casual and Insane the Hard mode, please. And make a Nightmare mode.

As much as I complain how stupidly hard a game is when I'm playing the hardest difficulty,at the end I always enjoy the "Yeah...I just did that." moment.

The greater the fight, the greater the victory.

I have an admission, I as of yet, cannot play nightmare on DA2 and have settled to playing merely "hard." That doesn't make me want bioware to make nightmare easier, I just play the level of difficulty that offers the most challenge while making the game fun for me.

I played about the last 30% of Origins on casual because I freaking sucked at it and never got any better. Now I do feel a bit dirty for having had to play the game in retard mode, but you won't hear me crying about how "the combat sucked" or the game was "too hard" on here - I just wasn't good at it. Some people just aren't good at certain types of games, and that doesn't mean they have to be dumbed down for them.

Shouldnt this be in the mass effect 3 forums?

Having said that, I have found modding my own difficulty level to be much MUCH more fun than any of the preset levels, so I dont really care as long as I can Mod mass effect 3s difficulty straight away.

- Which makes me think, why not give players the ability to make a custom difficulty suited to them when they start a new game,?
For instance with sliders for enemy and player health, power cooldown, enemy intelligence and numbers ect. and a % difficulty measures your adjustments.

I agree with the guy who either started or replied last... The first two games were slightly difficult with the non-fighter classes (i.e. Adept, Sentinel, Engineer) But with the Soldier or Vanguard (the Infiltrator takes some getting use to at first, well in ME 1 anyway..) you pretty much breeze through the game even on harder difficulties... I would like to see you fine ladies and gents at Bio Ware & EA set a bar that surpasses what you guys already accomplished so far... Haven't played DA, but I'm sure it's a winner as well. Just don't make it too easy for the Soldier class... It gets to be like shooting bottles on a ledge... Yeah it's awesome for 10 seconds, but then it's just cheesy....Image IPB Cheers! Image IPB

You think? Sentinel is basically my sleepwalker class. Once you have Tech Armor maxed out, you're pretty much indestructible. Never tried Adept or Enginner, though.

Adept was basically the sleepwalker class in ME1. Why bother shooting the charging Krogan that was buffed himself with Immunity, when a maxed out Lift will just take him off the vertical edge of the game map.

thanks for proving my point.

So, your point is proven... how? Because you followed this little nugget here with a long paragraph of stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with anything I've said, where you yourself admit you don't understand the issue of achievements (which is in large part what this is about, and you'd know that if you'd actually read the OP's posts)? Or because you don't care about achievements, nobody else is allowed to care either and if they do, they're "douches"?

We're done here.

hurt?
Yeah if you don't want to read the posts of others, then please don't respond to them in the first place, it defeats the purpose of a "discussion".
And btw: saying something sounds douchy and being a douche are still two different things.
And nice how you successfully misinterpret every single statement I make, respectively how you turn everything around. That's worth an achievement boy, you can call yourself "Michel Friedman" now :D
And I'm just refering to his behaviour in the show, not the coke and the prostitutes. :?

The galaxy isn't in danger if 3 commandos can just breeze through entire armies. Insanity should be the only mode for sake of immersion.

Right, so they should just give the Insanity Achievement away, just like how they now give kids trophies because they participated, and didnt actually achieve anything.

No. You want the achievement, then you work for it. I want my Insanity run though to be a heart pounding, ball sweat raising, sphincter clenching headf**k to truly emulate the fact I have just conquered the game against all odds.
Cant handle Insanity difficulty? Then set it for a lower setting, or go buy a Wii and play Mario Kart.

This guy knows what's up.

Also that Dead Space 2 hardest difficulty was VERY necessary. Especially for the reward you get at the end. I actually never completed it myself, or tried for that matter, because other games came up and took my attention away. I REALLY wish I would've tried though. The thought of only have 3 saves and no checkpoints is exciting to think about. Why? Because beating it would make you feel like you actually accomplished something. I want a really hard challenge. I could understand if you wanted the devs to make the difficulty hard but not cheap (Collector ambush on Insanity I'm looking at YOU), but you're just QQ'ing about the difficulty itself.

Insanity in ME2 is already too easy.

It should be harder in ME3, not other way around.

Wait. So let me get this straight.

The OP wants to play on insanity difficulty, but he doesn't want it to be hard?

They will make ME3 a bit harder than ME2. Just a smidge. By the third installment in a series you can expect a savvy crowd.

That being said - there will also be a chewtoy mode too. Normal will be slightly harder, but nerf mode will still be nerf mode - the boredom of caual play available for any and all to have a walk in the park. Many Many others will aspire to take on more challenge though.

Okay first up I am not a hard core gamer. I will never play ME2 on insanity because quite honestly I'm not good enough to do it. I am not adept enough on the controls and not quick enough in terms of manual dexterity or mental thought processes to handle the game at that level. Now, I've beaten the game twice - on normal with a vanguard and veteran with a sentinel and I'm proud of those achievements because to me, they were my equivalent of insanity. The game was as challenging for me at veteran as it wad for an expert player at insanity and I don't think it in anyway way detracts from my achievement. A game should be accessible to anyone and I agree that the game is maybe not hard enough for the very best and that's just as much a shame as it is for those who get their faces kicked in on casual. Maybe a game should have a slider from 1 to 100 where 0 will get you past the toughest enemies just by looking at them and 100 is so hard that only 1 or 2 people in the world could beat it if the wind was blowing in the right direction.

It would be interesting if insanity gave enemies different abilities, rather than just increased armor/shields.
What I would LOVE are little tweaks; on insanity the enemies might look different, or something subtle like the sky being a different color (instead of morning on casual-hardcore mode, make the sun set for insanity, blue electronic lights on the floor are now red, for example). That to me makes the game a bit more interesting and desirable to play on insanity.

The easiest way to make the game harder is to give them more health and armour. It makes the fights boring as hell, after the 90th time to duck behind cover while your powers recharge is insane, insanely boring... BAM!!!. Its why I don't usually go above veteran.

Making the AI smarter is too hard.

The difference between veteran & hardcore is significant, as there is a whole new tactical element with an added layer of protection which behaves differently to health. If you know what you're doing, Hardcore isn't dull - but instead ofers you a new challenge. But I do think that Insanity can get a bit dull, as there is no real difference between Insanity & Hardcore.

Also, I think the AI is a bit smarter though on the higher levels, as enemies flank you more often - however the effect isn't hugely noticeable.

So I hope that on ME3 they make the higher difficultly levels harder - not by increasing hit points required, but by adding new tactical elements and improving enemy AI.

Hard level was fun apart from the achievement also got a nice gun to use as a bonus for doing it hardmode so yeah keep hardmode in and have a few bonus loots for doing it gives one a better sense of accomplishment
