 it took me a while to get my DLCS authorized and not all of them work specifically my blood dragon armor. also when i start the game and log in it tells me all of my DLCS are unauthorized. logging out then logging back in usually fixes this problem but im wondering whats wrong. i bought the ultimate edition off steam and this isnt the first steam game i have had problems with. please if you have any solutions for my problems with this it would be very helpfull.

First, you do not need to play the game logged in. Once your DLC has authorized, you can set the game to not log in to the EA servers and not worry about authorization issues.

Second, you will need to be more specific about what you mean by they aren't working. Areas aren't showing up? Items aren't spawning into your inventory? Items aren't applying the bonuses they are suppose to?

For future reference, there is a solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum with links to solutions for the most common issues. There is also a read first thread pinned to the top of the forum. While hardware and drivers are likely not the issue in this case, there are plenty if folks who won't even look at your issue if you haven't provided all the information; and the rest of the reporting format will help you provide enough information for someone to help you as quickly as possible.

how do i set i so i can use the DLCS without logging in? also sometimes when i enter the game all my content doesnt work. other times it works just fine and most recently when i try to load my saved game it tells me that my saved game has premium content and im not on an authorized account to use this content. when it says the content is working i try to use it and it still doesnt work. i keep trying to do the soldiers peak qwest and it lets me talk to the guy and tell him we can go to soldiers peak but there are no marks on my map for where i am supposed to go. i still cant buy the golem from the merchant and the dragon armor wont show up in my inventory. i bought all the content packages with the game and i used the code and regestered the game with the other code. i dont understand whats going on ive never experienced problems such as these.

Again, please see the read first thread and report your problem using that format. It sounds as if you are having periodic problems logging into the servers and that is causing your DLC to de-authorize. What is causing the problem and the options you have for fixing it depend in part on your operating system, game version and form (disc, Steam, EA-Origins etc).

im sorry what do you mean by see the read first thread??? this is all new to me i dont really understand. my operating system is windows vista home premium. i bought it off steam. its dragon age origins ultimate edition version 1.04.

Pinned to the top of this forum is a thread titled READ FIRST. There is also a solutions round-up thread pinned to the top of this forum.

Edited once I got to a computer:
On the first page of the PC Tech forum and on the first page of virutally every forum here, there are a series of pinned threads with important information (they either have little symbols that look like lightbulbs or symbols that look like push pins).  They contain the rules for the forum, important announcements, and in the case of this forum, posting guidelines (the READ FIRST thread) and solution round-up threads.

The solutions round-up thread contains links to many of the most common known problems.  If you cannot find your solution there, or require help with one of the solutions, then you should go to the read first thread and follow the posting guildelines there.  Even if you don't think a piece of requested information is important for your issue, list it anyway.  It may or may not be, but it is better to have it than to leave it out, it helps those who frequent this area pick out patterns in problems with specific hardware and software setups, and it is a matter of courtesy to just provide the requested information to people who are volunteering to help (not necessarily aimed at you, OP, but others may run across this thread, and I've been repeating myself a lot lately).

In your case, your solution may be as simple as turning off log in as soon as your DLC is authorized.  To do that, in the same window that you enter your user name and password, there is a box that you can check in the bottom left corner that enables or disables automatic log-in.  Uncheck the box.

Once your DLC is properly authorized, it should all work properly.  Some of your DLC items, such as the Blood Dragon armor may require one additional step.  If they are not appearing in your inventory, exit to the main menu.  Go to the downloadable content menu and then to the installed content tab (the furthest to the right).  Uncheck the box next to Blood dragon Armor to disable it.  Re-load the character(s) that is/are missing the armor.  A warning will pop up that you are missing Blood Dragon Armor and giving you the option to force load the game.  Force load the character.  Make a new save.  Exit back out to the main menu and then back to the installed content as before and check the box to re-enable the armor.  Re-load the save you just made without the armor and it should appear in your inventory.  This may not work until after Ostagar.

If you continue to have authorization issues, you can try the solutions in the solutions round-up thread.  Again, please do ask for help if you need it.  Your other option is to use the beta 1.05 patch.  It fixes all DLC authorization issues, but has been known to cause increasingly long load times the longer you play.  These are re-set by exiting and re-starting the game, but it can be irritating.  You cannot apply the beta patch to a Steam install because of the way they handle patches, but your CD key from Steam entitles you to the EA-digital download version of the game that can use the beta patch.  Directions are in the 1.05 beta patch thread to download the EA version of the game and install the patch.

ok i read both of them and ive tried rebooting my computer and that doesnt help. force load they re enabling wont help. i couldnt find anything to help the issues i am having. the kings guard was able to give me the location of the key to kings chest after i revived him but when i try to go to ostigar its says "unable to load area" when i try to take the quest to soldiers peak it never shows up on my map. i was able to get the golem wand but i cant find it in my inventory. if it is an issue with connecting to the dragon age server how can it be fixed? sometimes logging in and out fixes the problem but when i try playing the game while logged out it wont let me load a save claiming i dont have the account to access the content. did i miss something??? in one of those threads??

Is your content showing up as authorized when these problems are occurring? Is this happening with the same character? I know this is insanely frustrating, but if you stick with it, we'll figure it out.

sometimes when i log in it shows them as unauthorized. i usually log out then log back in and refresh my DLC list in the game and then they get shown as authorized. but even when they are shown as enabled and authorized none of them are working. its all happening with my city elf he is the only character i have. he is level 6. ive been told that once my content is authorized that i can play without logging in but when i try that it wont let me load my saved game. i get the error message stating that im not on the authorized account to use the DLCS

Have you checked to make sure that the daupdater service is running? (instructions in the solutions round-up thread- let us know if you need help with them). Are you running on an administrator account? (not as administrator, but actually on an administrator account. The Steam edition in particular seems to be very cranky about this).

my DA:O content updater isnt showing in my services could that be the problem??? nvm i got my updater started and did everything else the thread told me to do and im still having trouble

That is almost certainly your problem. There are directions in the solutions round-up thread to get it running. Look at the Steam specific threads towards the top first, there are two exe files that are put into the Steam folder that are suppose to auto-execute and install the services, but don't always. Other versions don't have them, and since I don't have the Steam version, I can't look it up on my system. They are towards the top of the round-up thread.

You may find it far less frustrating to simply download and install the EA digital version and try the 1.05 patch. You will need to uninstall the Steam version, but you will have the option during uninstall to keep your save games.
