You do know that normal TV does make the text almost unreadable, right? It was same problem in Dead Space and in Dead Rising games. So he has a valid point. <_<

And no, not everyone has the money to buy HD-tv.

i play ME on my PC, but yeah i have that issue with other games on my 360 so i can completely sympathize with that.

try playing dead rising, super tiny fuzzy text without any voice over while fighting zombies? wtf dudes...

its really not the fault of the person, the text is so pixilated due to being SD to make it fuzzy and hard to read. its a pain.

Okay, if you can't read the text on a 54 inch and I can read it just fine on a 42, I think there's something wrong with your eyes and you need to get them checked out.

No sarcasm, I'm seriously concerned. Of course it could depend on how far you sit from your television, but come on, FIFTY FOUR INCHES?

You'd have to be 20 feet away to not read the text no matter how small it is.

THIS!

I had to get glasses too... PC gaming ruined my eyes for being too close to the monitor for 2 years when I used to play on PC. Shouldn't have started in a first place, damn it!

Still, go check the eyes, man.

I get so irritated with the small text size. Especially with the emails and codex entries. That and I tried to go on forums to complain about this one level where there's scions and harbingers (and it's bloody hard on insanity), and people hadn't a clue what I was talking about because my SDTV lead me to believe that scions were in fact called "scum". While the name is more suiting in my opinion, it's annoying that I couldn't even get the name of an enemy right because of the text size.

I know that this had to suck for you- but I laughed so hard when I read it through that I scared the rest of the folks in the office!  Ah, priceless.

On the real though, the tiny letters do suck.  They were fine on my screen, but the hubs plays on his dinosaur of a laptop- and they are practically unreadable.

Haha at least my struggle to read blurry letters entertained someone! Glad to be of service. I think they should change the name of them to scum in ME3 though. Really they pissed me off enough times that I wanted to call them worse things, but scum works.

Heheh, i remember my transition from standard TV to FullHD .. never noticed the word "loading" in the bottom left of the citadel loading screen.

I would suggest getting a FullHD TV to everyone still squinting here.. everything will look great! The prices keep getting lower and lower with the coming of 3D supported ones.

The small size is bad enough, but they should look at how the text contrasts with the background if they are not going to change the font sizes.

Seriously, HD tvs are insanely cheap these days. No need for the devs to waste their time on fixing stuff like that.

I could buy a 40" HDTV for what I paid for my HD Ready 22" TV X amount of years ago.

The solution is simple. Save up for a better TV if SD is such a pain in the ass. Or eyes, in this case.

He's not being a jerk. HDTVs are not exactly a new thing and they are ridiculously cheap.

I think if Bioware is making a decision to specifically format their games for a HD market, they should clearly mark that as such on their packaging. Imagine ME3 released with a little text on the side of the box like a pack of cigarettes, clearly stating that most of the text in the game is illegible without a HD screen to watch it on. Even then, having a ingame option to change the text size would seem a requirement, since a lot of elderly and disabled people might like to subtitles more visible, too.

I own a HD tv, but it was given to me. Since I work two jobs just to make ends meet, the suggested option to just go out and buy one on a whim seems like the automatic reaction of someone without bills to pay. Not everyone has the option to just spend $20 a week on whatever they want, let alone a hundred to throw at single game's problem.

ACTUALLY, I DO have glasses and I can't read the text sometimes because it's too small or there's white background.

So the OP is right. I agree with him. Please no tiny text for ME3.:crying:

We're living in the year 2011. I know I sound like total douche, but you guys have had more than enough time to catch up with this 'new' HDTV thing. Games in the future will require a HDTV. Might as well go out and buy one now.

Indeed, HDTV's have declined considerably in price over the last couple of years, however the term ridiculously cheap is relative and they are still not ridiculously cheap if you are struggling in the current climate to pay mortgages, run a vehicle, put food on the table or whatever any given persons limiting circumstances may be.

With that in mind it would be nice to see some addressing of the issue.

With regard to the earlier post (by somecthemes) about marking the packaging as designed for HDTV I can't see that happening as it may put some people off purchasing.

HAVE an HD TV.  <_<

So yes, you're just being a douche, and yes you sound like a total one. And yes I did have time to catch up. That's why I do have one and I still can't read the text sometimes while being just at ~ 5 meters from the screen AND with glasses.

There's no way I could have known that judging from your post. But hey, now we both sound like douchebags, so that's nice.

And if what you're saying is true, you should probably get your eyes checked. Or get a new pair of glasses.

I apologize if I sounded like a douche. You did it first.

And yes I have a HD TV of about I don't know the exact size but I think it's around 40+". Pretty big and still I can't see them sometimes, my parents and my brothers also have to be close to actually read them.

I already said why it's that I can't read it. It's because I consider the text it's too small and because sometimes there's white background + white letters which make things difficult.

I can see well for now, it's just I can't read from afar. Not everyone has eagle vision. Well in fact I had a pretty good vision until  around two years ago when I started reading bad. I'm myopic from one eye and a bit of the other.

But yeah anyway it's not like you care or anything, so... the OP brings a valid point.

I'll just repeat what has been stated and recommend that you get yourself a decent HDTV. Unlike several years ago, they're now sold everywhere and are remarkably inexpensive. You won't regret it.

In response to Bobad, I can see why tags like "for HD tv's only" decreasing sales, but that would be a proportional decrease, I'd say about the same number who don't own or have access to a HD tv. For anyone who had a HD tv, it'd probably be seen as a improvement or in keeping with the times.
Not mentioning to the customer that a HD tv would improve the game's perfermance is okay, not mentioning that a HD tv might be needed to read the basic information on screen; it'd be like selling copies of Mass Effect without the label on top indicating whether it's for the xbox, the ps3, or pc; and being suprised that people are upset that they weren't told.

I know I won't regret buying an HDTV, but c'mon guys, we live in different regions with different conditions. You guys say that HDTVs are cheap everywhere when you don't even know how is to live here.

I don't have a problem with reading texts in my SDTV. which surprisingly can use 480p, but don't say stupid things like that.

I agree with this, pretty much all of BW's most recent games have been eye-sores. I used to think it was just because I didn't have an HDTV but now I do, and I still can't read a damn thing.
