mage from Tevinter - who likes Tevinter and never stops going on about how great it is. Id like to hear the other side and not just "Tevinter has slaves and all the mages there are eeeevil"

Personally, if we had a Mage from Tevinter i'd like to see one that's rather.... Uhm, level headed.

Fenris had a lot of seething hatred for Tevinter, and everything we learnt from him was harsh and uncompromising evil. It was something about his character that honestly bothered me, especially since i could respond with "Not every Mage there is like that, surely" and he'd just shrug it off saying that they would be if they could be.

We already gather, from multiple run-ins with Tevinter Mages, that some of them are honestly downright power-hungry, greedy, self absorbed, borderline evil sons of Hades, but we also know that a lot of Mages are capable of breaking that particular stereotype, since Fenris himself admits that it's a possibility.

If we do see a Tevinter Mage as a future companion, i'd like it to be someone that's level headed and logical. Someone that understands the pinnacle of Tevinter Politics, has seen right down into the core of their actions, intentions and motivations, and give us a straight forward, simple, reasonable and level headed opinion on the entire thing.

I'm just so sick of personality extremes after all the Companions in Dragon Age II, i would like to see Companions that offer some compromise and some level of logical in-put for Cultural Lore.

Also, as unpopular as this idea may be, i'd like any Tevinter Mage we get in future titles to be Feynriel. He has a lot of potential to actually *be* a level headed young man and his unique powers are an extremely interesting anomaly, to me personally, that i would like to learn more about.

He's obviously capable of enduring a few different endings from Dragon Age II. He can go to Tevinter to study. He can be made tranquil. I'm pretty sure he can be possessed. But with Feynriel's level of power and his unique link to the Fade, him reappearing would hardly raise any eyebrows. ( Especially not after the Leliana "Maker Saved Me" bull.)

So, uh... Yeah, that ended up longer than i thought... Too Long Didn't Read = A more socially, politically and morally neutral Tevinter Mage, and preferably Feynriel.

I would love to see Rhys and Evangeline both as companions in DA3 more than anything, but companion in a relationship.

Rhys, obviously is Wynne’s son so there is a big pull there and a leading mage whilst not being too important like First Enchanter or Grand Enchanter (Like Wynne) so he could come along. He could discuss Cole and is a spirit medium which would bring a new skill to the game and may be the only person alive who knows how to reverse the Rite of Tranquility. He is also the son of a Mage and a Templar and a Fereldan despite being brought up in the Orlesian Circle.

Evangeline as a Templar with a fade spirit sustaining her is very unique and can be explored to huge depths, we also don’t know if that gift will affect her Templar lyrium addiction (that could be interesting if applied to any Templar companion).

Having them both as companions in DA3 could allow us to have companions that share both the same and opposites sides of the Mage/Templar war opinions. The fact they are in love (potentially) can allow them to both see the others sides of the war whilst still holding their own opinion.

It would also be unique to have a pair of companions in your party that are in a relationship.
The Templar/Mage war could strain their relationship with them each being from different sides of the conflict. The protagonist could either help them sort their differences and allow them to fall love with each other completely OR influence them both so they break up for your own purposes……… , The PC could start a relationship with one of them themselves, tell one to leave the party etc. or something to that effect.

They have also both met Shale which provides another connection to previous companions.

They could also be spoken to about the events of Dragon Age: Asunder, tying the book to the game and filling in for those who haven’t read the book

Having companions that come as a pair and that are in Love is something I don’t think Bioware have done before so it is not only new but can be handled many different ways.

Besides I wouldn’t be DA without a witty mage and it’s about time we get a beautiful Templar that isn’t a homicidal maniac.

I would also love to have Ariane as a companion and potential LI, I think she has a fantastic character and we haven’t really had a full time companion like her yet in DA. She is an unexplored character and we didn’t get much chance to interact with the in Witch Hunt. Again she would also be a link (to the Warden in this case) I think she would make a fantastic LI too.

An Ancient Arlathan elve or something to that effect would be cool too. It is very similar to Javik from ME3, but I think it could work.

I can see everything except Feynriel, because quite frankly he's too absurdly powerful. He killed a whole gang of bandits, while asleep, on the other side of the continent. And can psychically summon people from that far away as well. In addition to the whole "being possessed/Tranquil" thing.

Not sure about the companions. I bet they will all be bisexual though.

I do not see any problem with attachment when you play a role playing game you are meant to get attached to your character and to the world around you and to the “people” following you. I would like to see Sten again especially now that you know more about the qunari and Carver from the second game preferably with his older mage brother hawk the tension and triangle dramas that could be unfolded there would be amazing and I have nothing against Fenris also as a warrior.
As far as rouges go I would like to see Nathanial he has so much potential that goes totally untapped, just think of the tension it would be between him and the female warden (but that will never be since the game makers of today are so dead set on making new things rather than exploring the thing they started before they move on. Again just stating my opinion)
I would like to see Mórrígan since she have been the coolest mage by far or maybe Flemeth but I do not think they will agree to that either. (Or maybe the Morrigans third form if they have gone with the old lore from Ireland ;)) And maybe I am the only one but I would like to see more of Yowan and Bethany if she became a mage.
And templar’s of course Carver defiantly if he joined the order and I guess Cullen would do but then again it would be most interesting with your original character. They have that whole history if you chose the mage origin story.
I know that they have said that it will be a new protagonist but that is not something that make me want to buy the game more so I will wait this time until it is cheaper if it was my first character I would preorder but you cannot get everything I guess.

Cassandra is a given if you ask me, I also like to think she'd drag Varric along for the ride too. Other than that, I'd like to see new characters, especially if we're playing as a new character.

I would actually be surprised if we didn't get Cassandra as a companion in DA3.

As for companions that I'm hoping for...
*An intelligent darkspawn (romancable of course :P )
*A desire/pride demon (romancable, with bad end )
*shale, either as a dwarven woman or a golem depending on your actions from origins.(romancable, especially if she is stil a golem XD )
*A female kossith (come on, show us a female qunari already! Romancable)
*Dog (Ro... maker no, that's just plain wrong)
*A narcisstic tevinter mage.(not romancable, for obvious reasons :P )
*Varric (romancable. Have you any idea how dissapointed I was of not being able to romance him in DA2?)
*And of course, Cassandra :) (roma... god I'm tired of writing these out)

As you might have noticed, I was a bit sarcastic about the romances. But just a little bit XD

I like the idea a Tal-Vashoth companion, as we simply haven't had one yet. It would also allow us to have a Qunari companion who is significantly different from Sten, or is even female (Yes I know if they are Tal-Vashoth they aren't actually Qunari but I'm uncertain what the race itself is called).

A female dwarf would also be a nice addition, as I never played Awakening and so have never had a female Dwarf party member. It would also help to make up for the complete lack of female Dwarves in Dragon Age 2.

Other than that there's nothing I want in particular. A good variety with the races included in the party and the LI's but that's always pretty much a given. All I really want a set of interesting and new (or rehashed minor ala Isabela and Merrill) characters. What I don't want to get are clones of old characters who are similar in nearly every way, or old party members being reused again. I trust Bioware to write interesting, new characters though.

I want Anders as my healer Wynne is dead and too boring. Varric or Zevran as my archers. Morrigan or Merril as battle mages. Fenris or Carver as muscle. And some new companions for variety. A Tal Vashok Sarabas ? A Fog Warrior ? A talking intelligent darkspawn ? And ofc a warden. Cullen would be awesome and a male version of Cassandra to be pleasing to my eyes :D

In any case, DA writers have created wonderful companions already. I'm pretty sure they will be able to pick and chose and surprise us with great npcs.

Actually Wynne is alive in the next book so its likely she will be mentioned in the game but I dont think she will be a companion.

They said companions would be a mix of old. My guess is 3 will be from Origins and or DA:2 and 3 will be new

Melca36: I wonder if the "old" will be actual past companions, or old as in "old familiar faces" who were previously NPC's? If it's past companions then I hope it's not any of the previously romancable ones, too many variables for it too go horribly wrong.

Whatever they do, I hope they keep the DA2 bickering. It was so entertaining to put Carver and Anders or Aveline and Isabella on a party

Unless DAIII takes place in the short span of time between DAII's ending and Asunder's beginning, it'll be definitely too late for Wynne.  Image IPB

But at least a piece of her lives on.... sort of.

Since you will play as a new character, then probably no companions that you could romance before will be the new players companions. But I hope that maybe some old companions will come back, which you couldn't romance before but can now. Nathaniel and Varric would be fun so see again.
And as everyone have said, Cullen would be fun to romance, even though he was in love with the female mage grey warden.
I just hope that the previous choices you made in the earlier games will have more impact on the world than it did in DA2.
And I really hope that Morrigans child will be shown in DA3, and that some questions from the books aswell.
Still confussed who Alistairs mom is, if he's really is half elf, or if Maric Theirin has another bastard, and maybe he/she will be shown in DA3.

Characters I would like to see in DA 3:

Morrigan - Reasons needs not be given
Oghren - We all needs a bersker with the breath of ale and some wisdom of the dwarfs.
Shale - She ROCKS!
Sten - We all need a refrigerator but in lack of such Sten does the job!
Cullen - I like the way he has evolved as a templar - more human..
Alistair - nice to learn how he gets by as king...
Varric - A master of tales is always welcome!
Merrill - A must! She is a juwel of a character - cool logic nicely tucked away in childish behavior.
Fenris - would like to see if he evolve as a person.
Aveline - her family past seems to be a bit exciting. The grand game her father didn't want to play.
Keran - The world needs more of his kind.
Charade - she is the next in line to the Hawke estate...
Bethany/Carver - a must! Reason not needed. You could call it closure...
Tallis - otherwise the assassin dlc was worth nothing..!
Ariane - she would be something! As a friend!
Finn - his fate due to the tewinter statues words... We will not speak again...?
Connor - need I say more?
Lia - She might be worth a closer look as a companion.
Avernus - that would be a kick! spirit/human again....
Velanna - Her I liked! Grew as a character...
Nathaniel - A nice character with a spark of chivalry.

That was just on the top of my head... I might have forgotten some one.. But I'm just human...

Agreed! We've supposedly not seen the last of Sebastian, and I'd actually like to visit Starkhaven if we could. It's supposed to be as beautiful as Kirkwall is dumpy.

Buried somewhere in the darkest, deepest, smelliest, pits of this thread is a post of mine, explaining how desperately i want this man to return to Dragon Age and finish off his story, and why.

I swear on Tyr's Holy, Righteous, Fury. Sebastian has so much damn potential, and if Bioware leave him unfinished it'd be a huge waste of character.

Without even reading that post, I can say without reservation that I'd probably agree with all of it. I actually can't imagine DAII without him - and you can tell that the writers put a lot of love into his character and story too. No doubt if they continue his story there will be plenty of fans that see him as an antagonist (I certainly wouldn't), but that's just something that makes for a great character.  ^_^

It's also nice that his potential vendetta against Hawke doesn't have to be our problem in the next thing. While he doesn't strike me as the type of guy to hold a grudge for long, it may have just been the point of his "hardening" that ends up making him a much more decisive person. Which would be fun to watch.

I dunno, but I want to play as a socially awkward reluctant hero. And have all my companions force me to be the hero.

That'd be sweeeeeet.

Maric isnt the type to be raping serving maids. He has only been with those he loves. But Duuncan decided to watch over some other bastard son of Marics and forgot about the one he had with Fiona?

No question in my mind that Alistair is Maric and Fionas. Imagine if you kept Loghain alive and both Fiona and Maric aare in DA3, they reveal to Alistair they are his parents. Loghain finding out the king of Ferelden is half elf, mage and gray warden. But half Orlesian. His head would expolde.

I wouldnt mind seeing a hedge mage as a companion.
