Dragon Age 3 Companion Speculation

I'd never even thought about Maraas until I saw this thread, but I'm totally sold. Definitely should be a companion, and it would be a great way to continue to expand our knowledge of Thedas, which is allegedly supposed to be the point of the series (if we forget about how questionable the lore *actually* is)...
As for Origins chars, I don't think any of them should be companions... I love my Warden and that party and all, but its time to move on, and if they're used it really should adhere to player canon, and be in small cameos. Obviously they're going to have to decide if Wynne will be another back-from-the-dead scenario if the events of Asunder become canon (which is clearly important for a Mage-Templar war/ Orlesian setting), but I'm sure there are ways around that... However, like it or not, Morrigan will be back. If you did the DR/ romanced her, obvi the whole OGB thing needs some explaining. If not, her epilogue says she insinuated herself in the Orlesian Empress' court. She could totally be behind this Orlesian civil war if so. And who's to say the Eluvian didn't send her to somewhere in Orlais? I don't personally understand the reason for Witch Hunt if so, but whatever...
I don't see Leliana returning as a companion. Cassandra and her seem a bit interchangeable in terms of roles, so I think it's a pretty good bet that Cassandra Pentaghast, Nevarran noblewoman turned Seeker will be a companion.
Cullen... *sigh* I totally fell for Cullen when he was stuttering away at my mage warden. But... in my headcanon he never got over that mage warden, and he hints as much in DAII "I knew an Amell once... Never met her like again." I don't want Cullen as a companion, I think it'd ruin him a bit. I would be 100% satisfied if BioWare put together some epic battle where my Warden appears to help and Cullen dies defending her, perhaps against another Templar...
I think if the Circle was saved in Origins, First Enchanter Irving and Knight Commander Greagoir should return. Definitely not as companions, or even significant characters, but just a comic tie in to Origins... Ie continuing their whole "old married couple" arguments, even without their duties, lol. Irving is supposed to be alive during Asunder anyways, so assuming the Circle was saved, he'd definitely be at Andorral's Reach with the rebel mages. And Greagoir NEEDS to be Rhys' father. I have a deep seated need to see that puritanical Templar break down crying at Wynne's grave and have a father-son moment with his mage son. Irving and Greagoir also provide a good argument for the Aequitarian position, anyways, of Templar and mage working well together.
Charade Amell should return as a link to Hawke and his (potential) surviving sibling. I'd also like to see my Amell warden's siblings appear at some point... Leandra did say that "all" (3+ I'm guessing? Warden included) of Revka's children were taken by the Circle... It wouldn't be too far fetched to see one end up in Orlais at Montsimmard or White Spire, if the Amell Warden ended up at Kinloch Hold.
Feynriel pretty much needs to make an appearance. The first Somniari in centuries and he's only a footnote? I don't think even EA-contolled Bioware would do that.
I'm not all that attached to the DAII companions otherwise. Don't really want to see them. Meh.
I do want to see this played out from different viewpoints, however. Loyalist mages, Aequitarians, Libertarians, Resolutionists, hardcore blood mages/apostates, Templars loyal to the Divine, loyal to the Seeker, some involved in relationships with mages, zealots, etc. As long as its shades of gray, I'm fine. The black and white way of things in DAII was frustrating. I had really wanted to side with Thrask and take down Meredith that way... Reform the templars and the Circle, but noooo. lol.

Anders will be back like it or not. Even if you killed him I have a feeling that Bioware will say that the power of Justice inside him made him immune to knives. As for the other DA2 companions I would like to see them return in cameos I don't think many of them should return as companions. Fenris I never really cared for. Bethany or Carver not likely to be companions. Isabela and Merrill not likely as companions although I like both characters. It would be nice to see what Aveline does with Kirkwall in ruins. With Charade, a good possibility to be a companion.
I would also like to return to Vigils Keep and see how it changed over the years along with Amaranthine. Maybe see Oghren, Velanna, and the others again. Plus who became the Warden-Commander after the Hero of Ferelden left. Maybe that's where Stroud comes in. Another very minor character that comes to mind is Alec the sheepherder. According to the epiloge he becomes a great hero of the next age.
One last thought- What about Lanaya. She was Zathrian's first and became keeper of that clan in my playthrough.

Or Cole, that would be awesome.
Other than that i say: Finn, Ariane, Sigrun, or Shale.
Also it would be pretty cool if Hawke or the Warden became temporary companions for like a few quests.

I am guessing some Warden activity could be going on over there. That opens up for Howe, Oghren and the Hawke siblings.
Leliana is a good bet as well. Shale could probably pop up anywhere on the map too - as could Varric. Sebastian and Aveline are pretty much tied up near kirkwall, so i guess those two are out.
I am sure there will be some great new ones, though. I sincerely hope they don`t force Fenris, Merril or Talis down my throat again. Not unless they change the design of the elves considerably, anyway.

2. I like Rhys, but I'd prefer to see him somewhere in the game, not as a companion and certainly not as a LI for the same reasons someone else stated.
3. I don't want Cole anywhere near my game. Anders 2.0 IMO.

The forum does have a "no spoilers allowed" in the heading. Just for the record.

And anyways, Cole and Evangeline don't survive the events of Asunder, technically speaking. Don't know what I mean? Read the frelling book!

Naw. Switching to a different book instead. I know too much now. The suspense is kind of gone.
That's like not watching Shindler's List or Titanic or The Thin Red Line because you know the ending. The movie is still worth watching.

Those movies are based on historic events. Not the same as, say, reading LOTR for the first time. Being a good way into it, then someone tells you Sam and Frodo survives.

It would also let us see the issues of having a cross-cultural romance, which is something that was only hinted at with Merrill's romance in DA:2 (which was disappointing, because there was a lot of opportunity to explore that further). Blood magic and the mirror seemed to be the focus there, rather than the cultral issues of a Dalish falling in love with a human, although there were a few lines of dialogue about it.
Maybe a Qunari who is uncertain of the Qun, with a friendship path that encourages them to stick to the doctrine and a rivalry path that encourages them to do what they believe is right, even if it goes against what the Qun says, with romance only being an option on the rivalry path. That dynamic could work with a human or an elf who follows the Qun as well.

Even so, common sense dictates that there are going to be spoilers regarding Dragon Age 2 and related works being let loose in a discussion regarding companions for Dragon Age 3. It's pretty obvious dude.Rawgrim wrote...

No its not pretty obvious when this is one of only 2 of the boards that has a no spoiler heading on it. Naturally one would think spoilers would be kept from the threads in here, rather than in those that has Spoiler in the heading.
Again: no biggie. I can live with it perfectly well.
